All of the popularity and positive reviews must mean that the power bank is spectacular and it’s able to bring the best tech and design that portable chargers have to offer. Right?

There’s no doubt that the KMASHI power bank can hold potential but just how much potential does it hold and is the hype worth the purchase of this supposedly amazing power bank.

Most power bank chargers have their advertised capacities and their real capacities are usually hidden until the user uses the power bank.

The KMASHI 10,000mAh power bank is indeed a 10,000mAh power bank that’s not misleading you. We’re able to charge an iPhone 6 about 5 times and the iPad 2nd generation can charge 1.3 times.

It’s a power bank that is capable of charging relatively low capacity devices many times.

Although, if you’re using the two charging Outputs on the power bank, the 10,000mAh capacity will drain much faster.

Output Charging:

On the Output speeds of the power bank. The KMASHI power bank has two charging Outputs to charge two devices at the same time.

The first Output charger is called Output 1, which is capable of charging at 5V/1.1A charging speed, and although it’s nothing to be impressed about, the charging speed should suffice.

The Output 1 charging port is mainly for charging smartphone devices.

Output 2 can charge at 5V/2.1A charging speed, this charging Output port is mainly for tablets so they can charge at faster Amperage speeds.

Even though Output 2 is meant for tablets, we were still able to use it as a secondary charging port for smartphones and other devices. It’s a well-designed charging setup that provides a reasonable amount of power for both smartphones and tablets.

We do recommend using Output 2 for smartphones if you’re not using an iPad with Output 2 because many smartphones charge at a rate higher than 5V/1.1A.

Just one thing to remember though and it’s that the Output 2 charging port can sometimes have tablets misread what Amperage it should pull from the charger and as a result, a tablet may receive lower Amperage charging speed to 1.0A or lower.

So if you find that the power bank is doing a slow job of charging your tablet through Output 2, then just change the charging port to Output 1 and by doing so charging speed will be at 5V/1.1A.

Even though it’s a slower charging speed than what you’d get from Output 2, it’s still faster than what you’re getting from your tablet misreading the charging speed in Output 2.

It’s a rare problem though and we didn’t experience this with the 2nd Generation iPad.

Input Charging:

The KMASHI 10,000mAh power bank has a Micro-USB Input charging port that can recharge the power bank at 5V/2.0A charging speed.

We recommend using a wall charger that can output speeds of 5V/2.0A or higher so the power bank can recharge fully within 5 hours.

Using slower wall chargers that have an output of 5V/1.0A will result in the power bank taking about 9-10 hours to fully charge. So always use a strong wall charger to recharge your power bank faster.

We recommend the Anker PowerPort 2 that has two charging ports that are capable of an Output of 5V/2.4A max speeds. Check out our review here to know why it’s just a great wall charger for an all-around great charging experience.

Note: The KMASHI 10,000mAh power bank is not capable of Pass-Through Charging, which means that you cannot charge your devices while charging the power bank itself.

Design

Size and Weight:

The KMASHI power bank is a very basically designed power bank and when I say that, I mean the power bank is quite plain the way it goes about the overall design and how generic the shape and size of the power bank is.

 

This isn’t the smallest 10,000mAh power bank on the market and even with its size and the capacity that it holds, the power bank simply does not impress.

The charger is about 6 inches long and 4 inches in width. It’s quite thick as well with about 1 inch of thickness because of the two charging Output ports that are placed one on top of the other.

However, the general shape of the power bank is alright with it being a rectangular brick shape with curved corners and no sharp edges.

Ultimately this is a power bank that is not going to fit within your power bank, or at least it won’t be fitting very comfortably.

Instead, you going to have to settle for holding the power bank within your hand, which is quite comfortable because the power bank is ergonomic and you’ll easily be able to grasp it within your hand because of indented accents within the sides of the power bank.

Along with a somewhat lightweight at 9.8 Ounces, the portable charger is portable enough to be handled.

The other great option for this power bank is that it will fit into your handbag or nearly any bag quite well. It’s a great traveling power bank because of its size, capacity, and general shape that allows you to easily carry it.

Functional Components:

The functional aspects of the power bank are well placed because they’re easy to find and use.

The two charging outputs can be found at the top short end of the power bank. We concluded that it would have been better if the charging output were placed horizontally, not just because this would give the chance for a thinner design but also it would be easier to input a charging cable.

When you have two ports vertically placed, it’s harder to get the 2nd port in because you have to place the 2nd cable exactly within the port. After all, the other cable that’s in one charging port is limiting the space for the other charging cable to get in.’

Other functions such as the Battery indication, ON/OFF switch, and Micro-USB Input charger are on the wide side of the power bank.

4 LED indicators show the capacity of the power bank. The switch for the power bank has to be used promptly, meaning that you should tap it to turn on the power bank because any longer than a tap and the power bank simply stays off.

 

It’s a very simply designed power bank, that doesn’t show any signs of innovation in making the power bank smaller, more compact, and slimmer. We really would have liked a little more aesthetic appeal with the power bank but it does just alright.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of the power bank is good and although it’s not made to be strong or be super resilient against damage, we found that it’s a solidly built power bank.

It has 3 main body pieces: The top and bottom black covers and the center lining of red where all the functional things are and the indented accents.

We think that the indented center body of the power bank has more than just a purpose for superior handling; If the power bank were to fall, the edges of the power bank would take the most damage and not the vital functional areas.

The power bank’s material features a smooth plastic varnish finish that is resistant to scratching and corrosion from constant use, although that may be the case, for now, only time can tell if the power bank will be in the same shape that it’s in now.

Tech:

Tech build of the power bank has the standard safety charging tech that you should expect from power banks that you purchase.

With Overcharging Protection and Short-Circuit Protection that can keep you and your devices safe.

It’s a well-built power bank that’s going to deliver on the tech build side of things, however, even though the structural design of the power bank is solid.

The weight of the power bank maybe its downfall by being 9.8 Ounces. That’s more than half of a pound and with all that weight dropping it on a hard floor, may result in something breaking. We urge you to take caution when the power bank is high above hard flooring.

Reliability

Power banks within its class can be questionably reliable because the 10,000mAh capacity may not always be the true capacity.

With the KMASHI power bank, though, we’re glad to say that the 10,000mAh capacity can truly be relied on to charge your smartphone and tablets to their fullest potential.

Charging speeds can be underwhelming, and we dare say that the charging Output speeds could even be better with the two Outputs being 5V/2.1A but that’s not the case here.

If you can truly rely on 1.0A and 2.1A charging speed, then you shouldn’t have any disappointments with this power bank.

However, there are power banks within its capacity range and even higher, that feature two ports with 5V/2.4A charging speeds. Just check out our review of the Anker PowerCore 20100, which has a capacity 20,1000mAh along with two ports that can charge at a 5V/2.4 charging speed.

With that said, if you want the moderate strength of what power bank can deliver charging speeds up to your expectations with either one or two devices.

Then there’s no way you can go wrong with the KMASHI power bank. The popularity of the power bank is well deserved, despite being a little overhyped.

Summary

Power:

The true capacity of being a 10,000mAh is quite a big surprise considering that usually isn’t the case.

As a result, the power bank can charge smartphones plenty of times and a tablet like an iPad about 1.5 times.

The charging Outputs could use an improvement because the charging speeds of both of their ports (Output 1 – 5V/1.0A Output 2 – 5V/2.1A) are becoming obsolete regarding faster speeds being implemented within more modern power banks.

Although these speeds will do well for now and for the power bank to have two ports means you can charge two devices at the same time.

Design:

The design of the power bank is quite lacking in areas of being more portable and aesthetic.

The power bank won’t be fitting into your pocket very comfortably at all. Although it will go into your hand very well with the indented side markings to provide a better grip for the power bank.

The two charging Output ports could have been better placed by making them horizontally placed for easier access.

The other functional aspects of the charger are clear to see and easy to use. We felt that the power bank simply didn’t try enough when it came to the importance of being very portable as a portable charger.

Build:

The build of the power bank is strong, but if we’re talking about being strong enough to withstand drops to the ground, then we don’t recommend it.

The power bank is solidly built with two shieldings on the top, bottom, and middle piece.

The indented grip on the center red piece will try to steer damage away from the vital functional areas of the power bank in the event of a fall.

The ports, power button, and LED lights are well built and have no problems functioning. Along with the safety tech, this run of the mill power bank is not going to fall apart but then again it won’t cross any major expectations either.

Reliability:

The reliability of the KMASHI power bank can and will be relied on once you start using it.

Once you realize that you can take advantage of the full 10,000mAh capacity, the power bank is an absolute savior.

The charging speeds are fast enough to charge your devices at an acceptable rate, the design is small enough to be pleasantly portable and the build is strong enough to withstand everyday trials.

Its got all the aspects that make a power bank a quality one. Enough capacity that will leave you charging your devices for a few rounds or charge two devices at the same time at just “Fast Enough” charging speeds.

The power bank is simple to hold, no it won’t fit into your pocket but for any other portable needs, the power bank can be taken nearly anywhere.
