Best Camping and Hiking Power Banks

(Last Updated On: July 30, 2020)

Whether you’re camping or hiking, you’re likely going to bring some sort of portable device with you and that would likely be your smartphone and some other devices such as a tablet or maybe even a laptop. Taking these devices out in the wilderness might seem like the opposite of embracing nature but at the same time, it makes complete sense and that’s because you’re still around nature, and having things you’re comfortable with along with you for your the ride is just fine to do. Sometimes you gotta get away from your surrounding for a little while, not necessarily your material possessions.

Also, since you’re going to be away from a stable source of power to charge your portable devices, that’s where portable chargers come in. Also known as power banks, these chargers can charge your portable devices while you’re on the move and the best part is that there are many different types of power banks on the market, other than ones that are small and don’t have very much power capacity.

In this guide, we’re going to go over the best camping power banks that have high power capacities, so they’re able to charge your devices multiple times before needing a recharge. These chargers are also good for hiking, too.

Power Banks in this Guide:

Anker PowerCore 26,800mAh Power Bank

The first power bank that we have to recommend comes from one of the best brands on the market when it comes to portable charging and charging electronics in general, Anker. This PowerCore 26800 of theirs is one of their highest capacity portable chargers on the market, as it has a 26,800mAh power capacity. So if you’re charging tablets with this power bank, then they can charge to their full power about eight times if that’s all you’re using this power bank for.

Charging tablets with this power bank can also provide many full charges, if we assume that the table that you’re charging has a 5,000mAh battery capacity, then this power bank can charge it to its full power about 4.5 times. Then there’s the charging side, and there are three USB-A ports to use to charge your devices.

Each of the three USB-A ports on this power bank has a 5V/3.0A charging speed and that’s higher than the standard 5V/2.4A charging rate that most power banks tend to have. The max output of 6A is also impressive, because even if you’re using the max output with all the ports being used at the same time, then that will result in a 5V/2.0A charging rate for each of the charging ports, which is still quite fast for charging three devices at once.

Finally, there’s the recharging portion of this power bank, and we realize that recharging a power bank what you’ll be able to do when you’re out camping, but it’s still impressive once you do recharge it. This power bank uses two Micro-USB input ports that can be used at the same time, and that will result in a 4A recharging speed.

Pros for Anker PowerCore 26800 Power Bank

  • High 26,800mAh power capacity that can charge most smartphones to full power about five to six times
  • Has three ports to charge three devices at the same time, and each port is able to output 12W
  • The max output of the power bank is 6A
  • Has two Micro-USB input ports that can be used at the same time to recharge the power bank at a 4A speed
  • Comes with two Micro-USB cables

Cons for Anker PowerCore 26800 Power Bank

  • This power bank does not come with a wall charger

RAVPower 32,000mAh 3-Port Power Bank

This is another very high power capacity that comes from a well-known brand known as, RAVPower. The charger has a 32,000mAh power capacity, so you can expect about 8 to 10 full charges for most smartphones with this power bank. Then if you’re charging tablets with this power bank, that can result in about five full charges, even if you’re tablet has a 5,000mAh battery capacity.

The 32,000mAh power capacity of this power bank can very well last you an entire week if you’re just using it to charge a smartphone up, and that’s why we find it’s great for taking into the wilderness.

There are three charging ports to use on this power bank to charge your devices, and each of them has a 5V/2.4A charging speed. The max output of this power bank is 6A, so even if you’re using the max output, each of the ports is still able to output a charging speed of 5V/2.0A.

The only weak part of this power bank is the recharging and that’s because it only uses a single Micro-USB input to recharge from, rather than using two input ports. The Micro-USB input has a recharge speed of 5V/2.4A, so if you want the fastest recharging speed possible, then we recommend that you use a 2.4 Amp wall charger or higher to recharge the power bank at its max charging speed.

Pros for RAVPower 32,000mAh 3-Port Power Bank

  • Massive 32,000mAh power capacity that last days when it comes to charging either smartphones or tablets
  • The power bank has three ports
  • Comes with two Micro-USB cables

RAVPower 25,000mAh USB-C Solar Power Bank

Another one of RAVPower’s portable chargers is their Solar power bank. This Solar power bank of theirs has a 25,000mAh power capacity, and this is quite rare for most Solar power banks to have, as most-Solar portable chargers on the market simply have a 10,000mAh power capacity. So you have enough power to charge smartphones and tablets to their full power a few times. The power capacity isn’t the most impressive part of this power bank though, it would have to be the output and input charging.

The charger uses three output ports to charge your devices. Both of the ports are USB-A ports, with one using Quick Charge and the other USB-A port has a 5V/2.4A charging speed. The one other output port is the USB-C port that has a 5V/3.0A charging speed. The max output of this power bank is quite impressive as well, and that’s because it’s 6.4A. Meaning that you can use the max output of the Quick Charge port and USB-C port at the same time.

Just something to know is that you can use the USB-C port as an output with a USB-C to USB-C charging cable. The USB-C port on this power bank does not feature Power Delivery, so you won’t be able to charge a USB-C MacBook at its max charging speed, but it will charge USB-C MacBook just at a slower charging speed. You can of course, still charge USB-C compatible smartphones with the USB-C port, too.

To recharge this power bank, there are three options. There’s a Micro-USB input port that uses Quick Charge and there’s the USB-C port that can also be used as an input with a recharge rate of 5V/3.0A. If you’re using the ports individually, then we recommend that you use a Quick Charge wall charger, as that will use the max power of the input ports.

Or you can use the two input ports at the same time and that will result in a faster recharge rate of 4A.

One other method to recharge this power bank is to use the Solar panel, but that can take a much longer time than either of the input ports. One other reason to get this power bank is that of its build quality, as the charger has an IP66 water-resistance rating, it’s dust-tight and shockproof.

Pros for RAVPower 25,000mAh USB-C Solar Power Bank

  • Has a Quick Charge port, and a 15W USB-C port for fast charging, the power bank also has a 12W USB-A port
  • Can be recharged faster by using the USB-C and Micro-USB input ports at the same time
  • Has a Solar panel for recharging
  • The power bank has an LED flashlight with three functions
  • Once the charging ports are covered, it has a IPX6 water-resistant rating
  • The power bank comes with two Micro-USB cables and a Micro-USB to USB-C adapter

Cons for RAVPower 25,000mAh USB-C Solar Power Bank

  • The power bank does not come with any cables or a wall charger

EasyAcc 26,000mAh 4-Port Power BankEasyAcc Monster 26,000mAh Power Bank

For the most part, most high capacity power banks can have two or three charging ports. This EasyAcc power bank takes it to another level and that’s because it has four USB-A charging ports. The power capacity of this power bank is 26,000mAh, so there’s a good amount of power to use even if you’re charging four devices at once.

Each of the ports on this power bank has a 5V/2.4A charging speed and the max output of the power bank is 4.8A. So you can’t use the max power of all the ports at the same time, but you can use the max power of two ports at once, as that would be maxed output limit. That said, charging four devices at once can be very helpful if you have that many portable devices that require charging while you’re in the woods or if you have friends and family with you that want to charge their devices, too.

Another reason why this power bank is great is that there are two Micro-USB input recharging ports that can be used at the same time. Each of the input ports has a 5V/2.0A recharging speed, and so when you use them at the same time you can recharge this power bank at a 4A recharge rate.

Pros for EasyAcc 26,000mAh 4-Port Power Bank

  • The power bank has four ports to charge four devices at the same time
  • Has two Micro-USB input ports that can be used at the same time to recharge the power bank faster

Vinsic 28,000mAh 3-Port Power Bank with Quick Charge 3.0

This Vinsic 28,000mAh power bank is one of the highest power capacity portable chargers that use Quick Charge. So if you’re someone that owns a Quick Charge compatible Android smartphone then this power bank is a good option to get. As it has a 28,000mAh power capacity that can be used to charge smartphones and tablets to full power multiple times. Also, three charging ports are used on this power bank.

Two of the USB-A ports have a 5V/2.4A charging speed, while one of the ports uses Quick Charge to fast charge Quick Charge compatible devices. That said, you can still charge Non-Compatible Quick Charge devices at their max charging speed with the Quick Charge port.

Despite its very high power capacity, this Vinsic power bank still uses just a single input port, but the good news is that the single Micro-USB input port uses Quick Charge, so you can use a Quick Charge wall charger to recharge it faster.

OmniCharge Portable Power Supply Station

This OmniCharge portable power station is a power bank but at the same time, it’s more than that and that’s because it makes use of an AC outlet and a DC port. The power capacity of the charger isn’t high in comparison to the other power banks that we’ve mentioned as it has a 20,400mAh power capacity. That said, it does have quite a few useful ways to use it.

There are two USB-A ports, with one being a 5V/3.0A standard charging port, and the other USB-A port uses Quick Charge. The other two outputs are a DC port with a 150V output and there’s a 3-prong outlet on this power bank that has a 100Watt power supply that you can use to power small appliances.

Overall, this is more than just a power bank and it does have a bit of a higher price point because of its use in an AC outlet and DC port. That said, it can be very useful to have the ability to power an appliance with a portable power supply station while you’re camping.

Pros for OmniCharge Portable Power Station

  • The power features an AC outlet, DC port, USB-A ports, and USB-C ports
  • Can power appliances
  • Uses a digital screen that shows charging status and remaining power capacity

RAVPower 27,000mAh AC Outlet Power Bankpic-1

Another power bank with an AC outlet comes from, RAVPower. This power bank of theirs has a 27,000mAh power capacity, and this is more of the power capacity that can be useful when it comes to using an AC outlet and for charging other devices with the USB ports on this charger.

There are three charging ports on this power bank. There are two USB-A ports that each have a 5V/2.4A charging speed, the one other output port is the USB-C port that has a 5V/3.0A charging speed. The USB-C port does not feature Power Delivery but it can still charge USB-C compatible smartphones quite quickly and it can also charge the USB-C compatible MacBooks, but not at their max charging speed.

The AC outlet on this power bank is capable of a 100W output, so you can connect a USB-C Power Delivery wall charger to it and then charge your USB-C MacBook at its max charging speed. You can also connect many other laptop chargers to the AC outlet and charge your laptop with DC connection ones. The AC outlet is useful for powering small appliances that fit within its 100W range.

Jackery PowerBar 20,800mAh Power Bank with AC Outlet

This Jackery PowerBar 20,800mAh power bank is just one other AC outlet power bank that we wanted to recommend. The charger has a 20,800mAh power capacity, so it’s not the highest power capacity, but at the same time, the charging and powering of appliances is the real reason to get this power bank.

There are a total of four ways to use this Jackery PowerBar portable charger. It has three charging ports, two of which are USB-A ports with one using Quick Charge and the other one has a standard charging speed of 5V/2.4A. The one other port is a USB-C port that has a 5V/3.0A (15W) charging speed, that can charge USB-C compatible smartphones and a few USB-C compatible laptops, but it won’t charge USB-C laptops at their max charging speed, as the USB-C port does not feature Power Delivery.

The AC outlet on this power bank is a 3-prong one, and it’s capable of providing a 100W power output that can be perfect for powering small appliances such as small fans, and it works great for laptop chargers.

iMuto 30,000mAh Power Bank with Three USB Ports

A portable charger with a 30,000mAh power capacity isn’t too common on the market, but they’re very useful to have and this iMuto 30,000mAh power bank is one that can be useful if you want a whole lot of power. So the 30,000mAh power capacity can be used to charge most smartphones to their full power about eight times, and charging most tablets to their full power can be done about five times.

This charger has a total of three USB-A ports, that each has a 5V/2.4A charging speed, and the downside of the charging from this power bank is that it has a max output of 3.4A only, while most other 30,000mAh power banks have a 6A max output. That said, we think that it’s not too much of a bad thing to have such a low max output and that’s because you get to have a better conversion rate during charging and that leaves you with more power to use to charge your devices.

Recharging this power bank is the one part that could have used an improvement as the charger only uses a single Micro-USB input port with a 5V/2.1A recharge rate.

Pros for iMuto 30,000mAh 3-Port Power Bank

  • Has a very high 30,000mAh power capacity
  • The power bank has three ports, with each port using a 12W charging speed
  • Uses a digital power capacity display
  • Comes with a Micro-USB cable

Cons for iMuto 30,000mAh 3-Port Power Bank

EasyAcc 20,000mAh Rugged Power Bank with IP67 Waterproofing

One other EasyAcc portable charger that we wanted to add was their rugged power bank. This charger has a 20,000mAh power capacity, and there are two charging ports being used. Each of the ports has a 5V/2.4A charging, while the max output of the power bank is 3.4A, so there’s decent charging power even if you’re charging two devices at once. Recharging this power bank is also standard with the use of a single Micro-USB input port that has a 5V/2.0A recharging speed.

One of the main reasons to get this power bank other than its powering capabilities is that of its build quality. The power bank has an IP67 Enclosure level (when the ports are covered and nothing is charging), this means that the power bank can be immersed into water and not get damaged for 30 minutes. Also, the charger is dust-tight and shockproof, so it won’t get damaged if you drop it onto hard flooring so it can withstand whatever mother nature has to throw at it.
