Best Car Chargers for Google Pixel 3 XL

(Last Updated On: October 12, 2018)

Car chargers can be one of the most useful charging electronics that you use, and this is especially true if you’re someone that owns a fast charging compatible smartphone. The reason for that is because fast charging such as Quick Charge and Power Delivery only happen with smartphones if the phone has its screen off. As having the screen on and fast charging at the same time runs the risk of the phone overheating.

In this case, we’re talking about Power Delivery car charging for the Pixel 3, as it’s Power Delivery compatible. However, with many Android smartphones on the market making use of Quick Charge, there are plenty of car chargers that make use of QC tech, but you might have trouble finding Power Delivery car chargers.

Even though the Pixel 3 does have its flaws that many people are down about, including us here at Charger Harbor, we still want to provide the Pixel 3 users with the car chargers that they should be using. As you can fast charge the phone with the humongous notch while you’re driving.

CHOETECH 3-Port 18W Power Delivery Car Charger

When it comes to fast charging your Pixel 3 and basically all other Power Delivery compatible smartphones on the market, you need an 18W Power Delivery charger or higher. A standard 15W USB-C port will not fast charge the phone.

For the first car charger that we have to recommend, it would be this CHOETECH Power Delivery car charger. The charger makes use of three ports.

One of the ports is, of course, a USB-C port that has an 18W charging speed that can fast charge your Google Pixel 3. The other two ports are USB-A and they share a 12W charging rate. Very few Power Delivery car chargers on the market make use of this many ports, and so having the ability to charge another two devices while you charge a PD smartphone is highly useful for passengers that you’re driving with.

Speaking of charging multiple devices at once, you’re able to use the max power of all the ports at once,  as the max output is 30W.

Anker PowerDrive Speed+2 30W Power Delivery Car Charger

This car charger comes from one of the best brands when it comes to charging electronics in general and they’re known as, Anker. You might know them from our other buying guides or perhaps you’ve already purchased one of their chargers.

This is the PowerDrive Speed+ 2 car charger has two ports. So the USB-C Power Delivery port has a 30W charging rate, and this is the charging power that can fast charge not only a smartphone but also charges Power Delivery compatible laptops.

When it comes to charging laptops with an 18W charging rate, you can, but it’s mostly meant for a laptop like a USB-C MacBook. With 30W of charging power, it opens up doors to charge other, more powerful laptops that would otherwise not charge with a 18W charging speed.

The other port is a USB-A port that makes use of Anker’s PoweriQ 2.0 charging tech. This is basically another way of saying that the charger has an 18W charging speed and that it can fast charge Quick Charge compatible smartphones. Even though the PoweriQ 2.0 port does have 18W output, you still have to use the USB-C port to fast charge the Pixel 3.

So there are two fast charging technologies on this car charger, with Power Delivery and Quick Charge.

Aukey 27W Power Delivery Car Charger

This Aukey car charger is quite similar to the above Anker car charger we mentioned, with the USB-C Power Delivery port making use of a 27W charging speed. So you’re able to fast charge PD compatible smartphones and you can fast charge PD laptops at fast charging speeds, too.

The other port on this car charger is a standard USB-A port that has a 5V/2.4A (12W) charging speed. So there is no Quick Charge being used with this car charger. The good news is that you’re able to use the max power of the two ports at the same time as the max output of the car charger is 39W.

Meagoes 18W Power Delivery Car Charger with Quick Charge

So we already mentioned a Power Delivery car charger that already features Quick Charge, and that would be Anker’s PowerDrive Speed+2 car charger. That said if the price of the charger is just too much (Anker has a tendency to price high) and if you simply don’t have any use of a 30W USB-C Power Delivery port, then you should consider this Meagoes Power Delivery car charger.

What makes this charger worth getting is that it still has a Power Delivery and a Quick Charge port. The USB-C Power delivery port has an 18W charging rate, and you can also fast charge Quick Charge smartphones with the USB-A port.

You get two of these fast charging technologies for basically half the price of Anker’s PowerDrive Speed+ 2 car charger. The build of the car charger may not be as good as Anker’s but the powering is definitely good for charging smartphones and worth getting if you don’t want to spend double the money on 30W of charging power that you might not even use.

RAVPower 45W Power Delivery Car Charger

These final two car chargers are ones that feature even more Power Delivery charging that goes beyond 30W. As crazy as it might sound, these can fast charge Pixel 3 but they can also be highly useful for charging more powerful Power Delivery compatible laptops.

That’s basically what this RAVPower car charger is designed to do, as it has a 45W USB-C Power Delivery port, so this much power can be used to charge a Dell XPS 13 laptop or an Asus USB-C laptop, both of those types of laptops require that you use a 45W Power Delivery charger for them to actually charge.

The other port is just a standard USB-A port that has a 12W charging speed, and with the max output of the car charger being 57W, you can use the full power of the two ports at the same time.

Trianium 45W Power Delivery Car Charger with Quick Charge

One other Power Delivery car charger that we wanted to recommend is this Trianium car charger that still features a powerful 45W USB-C Power Delivery port. On top of that though, is that the USB-A port features Quick Charge.

So you get very powerful Power Delivery charging and fast charging for Quick Charge compatible smartphones. This is definitely one of the best car chargers to get if you use Power Delivery heavily not only for your Pixel 3 but also if you’re using it to charge other Power Delivery devices, too.
