Best Chargers for Google Pixel / Nexus 6P / Nexus 5X

(Last Updated On: October 15, 2019)

Google has some of the best smartphones on the market and even though they’re not exactly the ones that make the smartphones, they’re still the ones that get to decide on what they want their phones to feature.

So they always choose the latest tech such as having some of the latest Snapdragon processors, cameras that take the sharpest images and the battery capacity of their phones is really good.

The 3 main smartphones that we’re talking about right now are the Google Pixel, Nexus 6P, and the Nexus 5X, all of which are flagships that Google sells.

One of the main parts that all three of these smartphones have in common is that they all use USB Type-C for charging, which is really what makes them the next generation of smartphones.

Type- C is a growing charging technology that all new Android phones are going to features because it offers faster charging. Just a few things to know, though, is that Google Pixel, Nexus 6P, and the Nexus 5X do not use Quick Charge, and even though that might seem disappointing, it’s not.

As they’re still able to charge faster than phones that don’t use Quick Charge and in fact, the Google Pixel can use PD for faster charging with an 18W charger.

Then Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X can charge their fastest with a charger that has a charging speed of 5V/3.0A. That said, you may see chargers within this guide that use Quick Charge but we have them on here for good reasons though.

Just take a look at the Battery Capacities of these 3 Smartphones:

Google Pixel Battery Capacity – 2,770mAh

Google Nexus 6P Battery Capacity – 3,450mAh

Google Nexus 5X Battery Capacity – 2,700mAh

Best Portable Chargers for the Google Pixel / Nexus 6P / Nexus 5X

As you saw with the battery capacities of these Google phones, they all have relatively high battery capacities and therefore are going to need a portable charger that has a lot of power.

These power banks also make use of charging tech that can charge your Pixel or Nexus phone near or at its max charging speed, so let’s take a look.

EasyAcc MegaCharge 16,750mAh Power Bank

The first portable charger on this list is this EasyAcc portable charger that has a 16,750mAh power capacity and that’s enough to charge your phones to its max power about 3 times.

The charging with this portable charger is its best part, and that is true for both its Output and Input. This charger has two USB-A ports, with one of them using Quick Charge 3.0 and the other one has a charging speed of 5V/3.0A.

However, even if you’re using a Non-Quick Charge compatible device with the Quick Charge port, then it’s still able to output 5V/3.0A.

So each of the ports on this power bank can charge either your Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5X at their max charging speed. The Google Pixel can charge near its max charging speed, as this charger does not have 18W charging with any of its USB ports.

The recharging of this power bank is another great part of it and that’s because it uses two input ports.

There’s a USB-C input port and also a Micro-USB input port. The USB-C port uses Quick Charge and so when you use a Quick Charge USB wall charger with it you’re able to get speeds of 3 Amps and then it has a Micro-USB input port that has a recharge rate of 5V/2.0A.

When these two input ports are used at the same time, then you’re able to have a recharging speed of 5A. This results in the power bank being able to recharge to its full power within just 3.5 hours which is one of the fastest recharge speeds for a power bank with its power capacity.

Anker PowerCore II 20000

The Anker PowerCore II portable charger is one of Anker’s latest power banks and it’s also one of their best. It has a 20,000mAh power capacity as this brand has quite a lot of and so you’re able to charge most phones to their full power many times over. What matters most is the multiple USB ports and their charging power.

This PowerCore Elite 20,000mAh charger has a total of 3 USB ports and none of them use Quick Charge, so what makes this charger so special?

Well, each of the ports on this power bank has a charging speed of 5V/3.0A and so you’re able to charge your Nexus phone at its max charging speed and you’re also able to charge your Pixel near its max charging speed.

Better than the Standard

Anker PowerCore+ 26800

Perhaps a little overkill with its price but right on par with its power, this PowerCore+ 26800 power bank has some of the best techs with a portable charger on the market.

Of course, it has a ton of power as you could probably tell by the name with its 26,800mAh power capacity which is enough to last you a couple of days with just a single charge.

The charging with this power bank is where it wins as it has 3 output ports. Two of the output ports are USB-A which each has a charging speed of 5V/3.0A, so you’re able to charge your Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P at their max charging speed.

Then there’s the USB-C port that is the third output port which can be used with a USB-C to USB-C charging cable. What makes the USB-C port so special in this case is that it uses Power Delivery with 30W of power; so if you do use the USB-C port to charge your Google Pixel, you’re able to charge your Pixel at its max charging speed.

Power Delivery Recharging

The recharging of this PowerCore+ 26800 PD portable charger is also really good as you can even use Power Delivery when you recharge it.

That said, you have to use a USB-C to USB-C cable to use PD and you also need a USB-C wall charger that has 30W of power. Max recharging speed will result in a full power recharge within just 4.5 hours. Fortunately, this portable charger comes with a USB-C wall charger.

Specs of the Anker PowerCore+ 26800 PD with 27W Portable Charger:

RAVPower 26,800mAh Power Bank with PD

Just an alternative that we wanted to point out is this RAVPower portable charger that also has a 26,800mAh power capacity and it also has a USB-C port that features PD.

The only real difference with this charger is that each of its two USB-A ports has a charging speed of 5V/2.4A and this RAVPower portable charger has two input ports.

With one of the input ports being the USB-C port and then there’s the other input which is a Micro-USB. The Micro-USB port has a charging speed of 5V/2.0A and it’s meant for those that don’t have a PD USB-C wall charger and just want to recharge this power bank using a Micro-USB cable along with a regular USB-A wall charger.

Also, just to note, this power bank doesn’t come with a USB-C wall charger, as the PowerCore+ 26800 does.

Specs of the RAVPower 26800 PD Portable Charger:

  • Capacity:    26,800mAh
  • Output:

USB Ports: 5V/2.4A Each

Type C Output: 5V/3A |9V/2A | 15V/2A | 20V/1.5A

Anker 5,000mAh USB-C Portable Charger

There are not many Mini power banks that feature USB-C, but this Aukey portable charger is one of the few. It has a 5,000mAh power capacity so it’s able to charge your Nexus or Google Pixel smartphone to its full power at least once.

What matters most is its use of just a single USB-C port and nothing else. So you have to use a USB-C to USB-C charging cable with it and the USB-C port has a charging speed of 5V/3.0A and so you can charge your Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P at their max charging speed.

This portable charger is also recharged through its USB-C port but you have to use a USB-C to USB-A cable to do so and it has a 5V/2.0A recharge speed, so any standard USB wall charger with 2 Amp of power with its port will do just fine.

Its form factor is quite good as this power bank is on the mini side of portable chargers with its cylindrical shape, but at the same time, it’s quite thick. It’s going to be best to hold this power bank rather than placing it into your pocket.

Best USB Wall Chargers for the Google Pixel / Nexus 6P / Nexus 5X

There are quite a few USB wall chargers on the market that use a USB-C port, however, there aren’t too many power banks on the market that use 5V/3.0A ports.

Which is one of the main reasons that we have added standard wall chargers and USB-C wall chargers within this guide that can come the closest to giving you the fastest charging speed for your USB-C smartphone.

Anker USB-C Wall Charger

One of the most simplest USB wall chargers that you could use with your Google smartphone is this Anker USB-C charger as it has just a single USB-C port and that’s it.

It’s able to provide 30W of power and therefore, you’re able to charge your Nexus 6P, 5X and Google Pixel at their max charging speeds with this port. Just remember that you’ll be needing a USB-C to USB-C charging cable to use this charger.

Also, this type of wall charger is great to use with other devices that use USB-C such as Newer MacBook models that now use USB-C and also Chromebooks that use USB-C too. It’s the simplest, yet powerful wall charger.

Specs of the Anker PowerPort Speed 1 USB-C:

  • Output: 30W
  • Input:
  • LED Power Indicators: None
  • Size: 2.2 x 2.1 x 1.1 inches
  • Weight: 3.5 ounces

Aukey PD Duo USB-C Wall Charger

Aukey also has a single port USB-C wall charger that uses PD, the main difference between this one and Anker’s charger is that this Aukey charger has an attachment that is able to make this charger a 2-Port USB-A port and so you’re able to charge two standard devices that don’t use USB-C once you add the USB-A attachment.

Specs of the Aukey PD Duo USB-C Wall Charger:

  • Output:
  • USB-A Ports: 5V/3.0A Each

Anker PowerPort 5 USB-C / PowerPort 5+ with USB-C

Anker also has two USB charging stations that use USB-C. Both of them have 4 standard USB-A ports that each has a charging speed of 5V/2.4A, the main difference is what their USB-C ports are capable of.

The regular PowerPort 5 has its USB-C port is capable of outputting a 5V/3.0A charging speed and then the PowerPort+ 5 has its USB-C port using PD so it’s capable of outputting 30W of power which can charge your Google Pixel at its max charging speed.

Specs of the Anker PowerPort+ 5 USB-C:

  • Output:   Per PoweriQ Port: 5V/2.4A | USB-C Power Delivery: 5V/3A | 9V/3A | 15V/2A | 20V/1.5A

Aukey 2-Port USB-C Wall Charger

If you’re just searching for a wall charger to charge your Nexus or Google Pixel quickly and at the same time to charge a standard device that doesn’t use USB-C as well. Then we recommend something like this Aukey wall charger that has a single USB-C port with a charging speed of 5V/3.0A and a USB-A port with a charging speed of 5V/2.1A.

This wall charger has a foldable AC Adapter that’s able to make it easier for portability too.

Car Chargers for the Google Pixel / Nexus 6P / Nexus 5X

There are car chargers that feature USB-C ports to charge USB-C compatible devices but there are quite a few brands that have jumped on the bandwagon to use the fast charging tech.

The benefit of using a car charger that uses a USB-C port is that you can charge your smartphone quite quickly while you’re driving and by the time you reach your destination you have enough power to last you the rest of the day.

Tronsmart USB-C Car Charger

This is one of the best car chargers that you can get for your USB-C compatible smartphones as it has a single USB-C port and it also has a USB-A port.

The USB-A port has a 5V/2.4A charging speed for standard devices and the USB-C port features Quick Charge. That said, it will still charge your Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P at 5V/3.0A and the same is true for the Google Pixel too.

However, for those smartphones that do use Quick Charge and the USB-C at the same time for charging, then this car charger is going to be even more useful.

Specs of the USB-C Car Charger:

  • # Of Ports: 2
  • Output:

Standard USB-A Port: 5V/2.4A

USB-C Port: 3.6-6.5V/3.0A | 6.5-9V/2.0A | 9-12V/1.5A

  • LED Power Indicators: None
  • Size: 2.76 x 0.94 x 1.26 inches
  • Weight: 0.88 Ounces

Tronsmart also has a car charger that has a built-in USB-C charging cable with its car charger that also uses a Quick Charge 3.0 port to charge compatible devices.

These types of car chargers are some of the best to use if you always want to have a cable-ready for you once you enter your car. Aukey even has a similar car charger called the CC-Y4 that also has a built-in USB-C charging cable, but their version just uses a standard port.

The good thing is that the built-in USB-C cable with both of the car chargers has a charging speed of 5V/3.0A.

Specs of the Tronsmart Car Charger with Quick Charge 3.0 and USB-C Built-in Cable:

  • # Of Ports: 2
  • Output:

Built-in USB-C Cable: 5V/3.0A

Quick Charge USB-Port: 3.6-6.5V/3A | 6.5-9V/2A | 9-12V/1.5A

  • LED Power Indicators: None
  • Size: 2.76 x 0.94 x 1.26 inches
  • Weight: 0.88 Ounces

Aukey 2-Port Car Charger with PD / 3-Port Car Charger with USB-C and 2 USB-A Ports

The last two car chargers that we to mention are from Aukey.

The two-port car charger is one of the best options as it uses Power Delivery with its USB-C port, which is something that not many car chargers have.

And then the USB-A port has a charging speed of 5V/2.4A. So the USB-C port can charge your Nexus phone at its max charging speed and it can even charge the Google Pixel at its max charging speed too.

Specs of the Aukey USB-C Car Charger with Power Delivery:

  • Output:
  • USB-A Port: 5V/2.4A
  • USB-C Port: 5V/3.0A | 9V/2.5A | 12V/2.0A
  • Input: 12-24V
  • LED Power Indicators: None
  • Size: 1.26 x 1.26 x 2.39 inches
  • Weight: 0.9 ounces

The other car charger is a 3-port car charger that has two standard USB-A ports and a USB-C port.

Each of the standard ports has a charging speed of 5V/2.4A and the USB-C port features Quick Charge just as the Tronsmart car charger has on this guide has too.

So it’s also able to charge your Google Pixel near its max charging speed and you’re able to charge your Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X at their max charging rates as the USB-C port can output 5V/3.0A.

Specs of the Aukey 3-Port USB-C Wall Charger:

Standard USB-A Ports: 5V/2.4A

  1. I have 2 tronsmart powerbanks but they will not charge my 5X via usb-c. Is there some kind of difference between usb-c ports?
