Best Chargers for HP EliteBook 840 Aero

(Last Updated On: January 10, 2022)

Going with top-tier spec laptops is a must for some consumers who want the best when having a portable computer. It makes sense, too, as it’s incredible to blaze through doing your work or for media purposes without having any slowdowns. One of the lesser-known laptops that’s up there with Apple’s Macbook or Microsoft’s Surface devices is the HP Pavilion EliteBook 840 Aero laptop. This laptop does have a steep price, but it delivers with its specs in most cases.

With such a powerful laptop as the HP Elitebook 840 Aero that uses USB-C charging and comes with a 65W charger, you’re going to want more accessible and convenient charging options if you’re going to charge the laptop and other devices simultaneously. You may also want a replacement charger if your original breaks or goes missing; that’s why in this guide, we’re covering different chargers that you can use to charge the Elitebook 840 Aero that offers an equivalent or better charging experience for the laptop in comparison to the original charger.

SAIL01 65W GaN Dual USB-C Power Delivery Wall Charger

Included in the box with the HP EliteBook 840 Aero is a 65W USB-C desktop charger that uses a power cord. So the original charger is neat because of its long reach, but its flaw is that it’s not too portable because of its long wires, and it’s limited to only being able to charge a single device at a time.

That’s why we recommend getting a wall charger for charging your HP laptop, as they can output just as much power as the original charger while being smaller and being able to charge multiple devices. This SAIL01 GaN wall charger is an excellent example of that, with this charger having two USB-C ports and using dynamic charging via USB-C 2.

This charger uses dynamic charging from its USB-C 2 port because the port changes its charging speed depending on if you’re charging one or two devices simultaneously. Charging a single device, such as your Elitebook 840 Aero, will result in USB-C 2 outputting 65W, the max charging speed of the laptop.

However, charging two devices simultaneously, from USB-C 1 and USB-C 2, will result in USB-C 2 outputting 45W, and USB-C 1 always outputs 18W. You can still charge the HP laptop with a 45W charge rate. The charger also has 25W PPS charging that can super fast charge smartphones like the Galaxy S20, Note 20, and the Galaxy S21. The box with the SAIL01 wall charger is a 3.3-foot USB-C to USB-C cable.

We wanted to mention that the SAIL01 uses GaN tech to be a smaller charger while maintaining high power output.

Baseus 100W 1-Port GaN Power Delivery Wall Charger

If you don’t need to charge multiple devices and want a powerful wall charger for portability and possibly future-proof your charging needs, this Baseus wall charger fits your needs. That’s because this Baseus charger only has a single USB-C Power Delivery port that outputs 100W. The single-port outputting 100W places a vast blanket on the devices that this charger can charge. You can charge your Elite 840 Aero with this wall charger, and you can also set most other USB-C devices such as other laptops, smartphones, and tablets.

The charger is also tiny, with a length of just 3.6 inches and a foldable plug; you won’t have any trouble being portable with this charger. Included in the box is a USB-C to USB-C cable.

UGREEN 100W 4-Port Power Delivery Desktop Charger

A desktop charger may be what you’re looking for if you want lots of charging power and ports to use; this way, you can charge multiple devices at relatively fast charging speeds. This UGREEN 100W desktop charger can do just that. That’s because the charger has four ports; there are three USB-C Power Delivery ports and one USB-A port. If you’re charging just a single via USB-C 1 or USB-C 2, you can utilize the full 100W of the charger.

Charging two devices, one from USB-C 1 and USB-C 2, will result in a 45W power output from each of the ports; this means that you can practically charge two Elitebook 840 Aero laptops simultaneously. Charging four devices simultaneously gives you 45W from USB-C 1, 30W from USB-C 2, and 10.5W from USB-C 3 and the USB-A port.

So even if you’re charging four devices, you can still charge your Elitebook 840 Aero from USB-C 1. You can’t do this with the original charger, and something you can do with very few wall chargers. That said, UGREEN does have a 4-port GaN wall charger that is basically this desktop charger but in a wall charger form factor.

The benefit of using a desktop charger is that it uses a power cord. With the length of the power cord and the charging cable that you use, it can be easier to charge your devices where you want to.

Baseus 65W 20,000mAh Power Delivery Power Bank

Moving onto portable charging, you may want to consider owning a portable charger if you’re often portable with your laptop. This way, whether you’re at work, school, a cafe, or a library, you can still charge your Elitebook 840 Aero without worrying about being near an AC outlet.

This Baseus power bank fits charging the HP laptop quite well because the power bank has a 20,000mAh power capacity. With a 20,000mAh capacity, you’re able to charge the Elitebook to full power about two times, that is, if you’re only using the power bank to charge the laptop. Along with capacity, the charging power from the ports is just as good.

There is a USB-C Power Delivery port and two USB-A Quick Charge ports on the power bank. If you’re only charging a single device via the USB-C PD port, then the USB-C port outputs 65W. However, if you’re chagrin multiple devices simultaneously, the USB-C PD port will output 45W, and the USB-A ports will feature Quick Charge for fast charging compatible Android phones.

You can also recharge the power bank at 65W with a 65W or higher Power Delivery wall charger, but that is not included in the box. You do get a USB-C to USB-C cable in the box, though. There is a Micro-USB input port, too, but we highly recommend using the USB-C port for recharging as it’s much faster. On top of the power bank is a display that shows the ports’ remaining power capacity and charging status.

MAXOAK 100W AC Outlet Power Bank with USB-C Power Delivery

This MAXOAK portable charger is a traditional type of power bank because this one features an AC outlet. If you’re not looking to use a USB-C port directly from a power bank and want to opt to use the original charger that came with your Elitebook 840 Aero, then you can use the outlet on this power bank to plug the charger into. The outlet can power up to 100W, so the original charger will work with it.

That said, even if you don’t have the original charger that came with your HP Elitebook, you can use the 45W USB-C Power Delivery port directly on the power bank. There are also two USB-A Quick Charge ports too. The power bank has a 99Wh capacity to get the Elitebook to full power at least two times.

Included in the box is a USB-C to USB-C cable and a 30W PD wall charger that you can use to recharge the power bank. This MAXOAK AC power bank is much larger than a regular one. There’s no way it will fit into your pocket, but it’s still very much portable.

Excitrus NitroCharge Pro 25,600mAh 100W Power Delivery Power Bank

This Excitrus portable charger is an all-around power bank because it has a high 25,600mAh power capacity that can be used to charge the Elitebook 840 Aero to full power about two times, and you may have spare capacity. The charging is impressive as this NitroCharge power bank has four ways to charge and has a 120W max output.

There are two USB-C Power Delivery ports, one is a 45W USB-C PD port, and the other is a 100W USB-C PD port. There is also a USB-A Quick Charge and wireless charging at the top of the power bank. You can use either of the USB-C PD ports to charge your HP laptop, but we recommend using the 100W USB-C port at all times to ensure that you get the fastest charging speed from it.

In our review for this Excitrus NitroCharge, we could charge a laptop and tablet from both USB-C ports while also fast charging a phone and fast wireless charging another phone by using the wireless charging pad at the top. So this Excitrus power bank can be used in a host of different ways for your charging needs, and you don’t lose charging power even if you’re charging multiple devices because the power bank has a high 120W max output to utilize.

Baseus 65W USB-C Power Deliveyr Car Charger

Just one more type of charger that we wanted to add is a car charger because you never know when you might need to charge your laptop while driving. Especially if you need it by the time you reach work, school, or if you’re on a road trip. This Baseus car charger fits the charging needs for the Elitebook 840 very well because it has a 65W USB-C Power Delivery port and a USB-A Quick Charge port. You can charge the laptop at its max speed when charging it alone and use the full 65W; however, you can opt to charge two devices simultaneously, and the USB-C PD port will drop down 45W, but that’s still enough charging power to charge the HP laptop.

This charger does feature an Amperage and Voltage meter, not precisely an excellent feature, but it’s cool to see. Included in the box is a USB-C to USB-C cable.
