Best Chargers for iPad Air 4 (2020) in 2024

(Last Updated On: January 17, 2024)

The iPad has consistently set the standard in the tablet market, with Apple continuously innovating each new model. These innovations result in faster, thinner iPads with stunning displays and compatibility with numerous accessories. The iPad Air 4, in particular, represents a significant leap, nearly bridging the gap between tablet and laptop.

Powered by the Bionic A14 Chip, the iPad Air 4 offers performance nearly on par with the iPad Pro, despite its lower 4GB of RAM. While it features a 60Hz display, this doesn’t diminish the quality of its 10.9-inch Liquid Retina screen, boasting a resolution of 1640 x 2360. It’s also compatible with the iPad Pro keyboard attachment, enhancing its functionality as a laptop alternative.

A major upgrade from the iPad Air 3 (2019) to the iPad Air 4 (2020) is the shift from a Lightning port to a USB-C port. This change enables the use of Power Delivery for fast charging and quicker file transfers. This guide will focus on the best fast chargers for the iPad Air 4, considering its 7,606mAh battery size. Fast charging is crucial, especially when needing to quickly replenish the tablet’s power.

UGREEN Nexode 45W Charger

The UGREEN 45W charger may have a lot more than you’re looking for, but it’s one of the most reliable mini Power Delivery chargers I’ve reviewed that can be used for fast charging many devices. Of course, you can fast charge your iPad Air 4 from the UGREEN charger while charging it alone because that’s when it outputs 45W of Power Delivery. 45W of Power Delivery can be used to charge most USB-C laptops, as in my review of the UGREEN 45W charger, I could fast charge my Lenovo laptop.

However, you can also fast charge your iPad Air 4 even when charging two devices. That’s because when you charge two devices, the power split becomes 25W and 20W of Power Delivery via the two USB-C ports; this makes it possible to fast charge your iPad Air and charge another device. I recommend plugging in your iPad Air first when dual charging so that your iPad can get the 25W of Power Delivery. Watch my video review of the UGREEN Nexode 45W Charger to see its fast-charging capabilities in action.

VOLTME 65W 3 Port Charger

If you want more power for fast charging the iPad Air, the VOLTME 65W charger is a good option. You can use the total 65W of Power Delivery via the USB-C 1 or 2 ports if you’re charging one device, which can fast charge your iPad. The better part of this charger is that when you’re charging from all three ports simultaneously, the USB-C 1 port can output 45W of Power Delivery, and the USB-C 2 and the USB-A ports share 15W. So you can fast charge your iPad while you charge another two devices with a VOLTME 65W charger. In my review for the VOLTME 65W charger, I could fast charge my laptop and two phones. Check out my video review of the VOLTME 65W Charger for an in-depth look at its multi-device charging features.

UGREEN 30W Robot Charger

The UGREEN 30W robot charger is on the minimal power side because it only has a single 30W PD USB-C port, so if you’re okay with charging one device at a time, this is a good choice. The charger’s design is pretty cool, as it looks like a robot and even has a smiling face during charging. And overall, it’s a nice change compared to other boring chargers on the market. In my review for the UGREEN 30W robot charger, I could super fast charge my Galaxy S20 because the charger features PPS.

AOHI 40W MagCube 2 Port Charger

The AOHI 40W charger is another good option for charging the iPad Air 4 because it has a 40W max output and two USB-C ports. The 40W of Power Delivery can be fully used when charging one device, but if you’re charging two devices, then each USB-C port will output 20W. So, if you want to charge the iPad at max speed, I recommend charging it alone, but even during dual charging, your iPad will charge at a decent. In my review of the AOHI 40W MagCube charger, I could check if fast charging was happening based on the lights at the front. Watch my AOHI 40W MagCube Charger video review to see how it efficiently charges the iPad Air 4.

Baseus 100W 4 Port Charger

The Baseus 100W charger may be too much of what you’re looking for, but if you’re searching for an all-around type of charger that can be reliable for fast charging the iPad and all your devices, this may be one to consider.

The Baseus 100W charger can still fast charge the iPad Air 4 (2020) with the USB-C 2 port even if you’re charging another three devices at the same time; that’s because the USB-C 2 port outputs 20W of Power Delivery when charging four devices, USB-C 1 outputs 60W and the two USB-A ports share 15W. In my review of the Baseus 100W charger, I could charge my laptop, a power bank, and two phones. I also found that the Baseus charger has a USB-C to USB-C cable. Don’t miss my video review of the Baseus 100W Charger for insights into its high-power multi-port charging.

UGREEN Magnetic 20W Power Bank

A power bank for charging your iPad Air 4 may be necessary if you’re portable with the tablet a lot and are heavily using it; it can end up running out of battery power a lot sooner than you think. The UGREEN Magnetic 20W power bank is reliable for iPhones and charging the iPad Air 4. You can’t use the magnetic wireless charging pad with the iPad Air. However, you can use the 20W Power Delivery USB-C port on the UGREEN power bank to fast charge your iPad. Also, if you own an iPhone 12 or newer, you can use the Magnetic wireless charging pad on the power bank. In my review, I could magnetically attach my Note 9 to the charging pad because I had a magnet at the back of my Note 9. See the UGREEN Magnetic 20W Power Bank in my video review, highlighting its compatibility with the iPad Air 4.

ROMOSS PEA30 Power Bank

The ROMOSS PEA30 power bank is more suitable for charging the iPad Air 4 because the power bank has a 30,000mAh battery that can charge the iPad Air 4 to full power about two times. The iPad Air can also be fast charged because the power bank has a 30W Power Delivery USB-C port, and I recommend charging your iPad alone with the power bank. During my review of the ROMOSS PEA30 power bank, when I charged multiple devices at the same time, fast charging from the USB-C port would not work. Check out my video review of the ROMOSS PEA30 Power Bank to see its extensive battery capacity for the iPad Air 4.

Final thoughts about my choice of Chargers for the iPad Air 4 (2020)

The iPad Air 4 is a decent upgrade over past models, primarily because it uses a USB-C port for charging, and it’s even made better because Apple decided to use Power Delivery fast charging with it. You can use a host of different chargers for fast charging, such as going minimal with the UGREEN 1 port robot charger, or you can use all-out chargers, such as the Baseus 100W.
