The Surface Pro 7 from Microsoft was a reasonable few steps up from their previous model with upgraded specs, and perhaps the most welcome change to the Pro 7 is that it uses a USB-C port. Implementing a USB-C port on newer model devices when older models didn’t have the port is one of the main reasons to upgrade from older to more recent devices. With USB-C, you get many new features, such as faster file transfer speeds, using USB-C as a display port, and charging from a USB-C port.
The feature of USB-C Power Delivery charging for the Surface Pro 7 was a significant upgrade because it lets you have easier access to charging, rather than just using the Surface Connect port for charging. The Pro 7 comes with a Surface Connect charger, but if you want to use a charger with more ports to charge multiple devices or use different chargers, then using the USB-C port is the way to go.
In this guide, we’re covering different chargers that you may want to consider using to provide a more accessible charging experience for your Surface Pro 7.
UGREEN Nexode 45W 2 Port Charger
The UGREEN 45W charger is on the minimal side because it has two USB-C ports, but it’s a small and powerful charger for the Surface Pro 7 that is easy to take anywhere. The UGREEN charger can output 45W of Power Delivery when charging a single device; it doesn’t matter what port you use. 45W of charging can fast charge the Surface Pro 7 via its USB-C port. You can also charge two devices simultaneously; however, the power split between the ports is 25W and 20W when charging two devices.
You can still charge your Surface Pro 7 when charging two devices, and I recommend plugging it in first to ensure that it gets 25W, but this will charge the Surface slower. You can then fast charge a phone while you charge your Surface Pro 7. In my review for the UGREEN 45W charger, I could fast two phones, and in another test, I could charge my laptop and a phone, but my laptop would charge slower during dual charging. Watch my video review of the UGREEN Nexode 45W 2 Port Charger.
VOLTME 65W 3 Port Charger
The VOLTME 65W charger is more balanced, with this VOLTME charger having two USB-C ports and a single USB-A port. You can use 65W of Power Delivery if you charge a single device via USB-C 1 or 2. Also, during dual charging or having three devices charging simultaneously, the USB-C 1 port will output 45W, while the USB-C 2 and the USB-A ports share a 15W output. So you can still charge your Surface Pro 7 from the USB-C 1 port while you charge two phones via the USB-C 2 and USB-A ports.
In my review for this VOLTME 65W charger, I could still charge my Lenovo laptop and two phones simultaneously. Watch my video review of the VOLTME 65W 3 Port Charger.
Baseus 100W 4 Port Charger
If you’re looking for a charger with many ports and a high power output, the Baseus 100W charger will charge your Surface Pro 7 and any future USB-C devices you own. There are two USB-C ports and two USB-A ports on this charger. This Baseus 100W charger can output 100W of Power Delivery from USB-C 1 or 2 if you charge one device at a time. The better part about this Baseus charger is that when you’re charging four devices simultaneously, the USB-C 1 port can output 60W of Power Delivery, and this still lets you fast charge your Surface Pro 7 while you charge another three devices.
In my review for the Baseus 100W charger, I could pull 100W from USB-C 1 or 2 to recharge a power bank and charge my laptop, a power bank, and two phones simultaneously. There is a USB-C to USB-C cable in the box. Watch my video review of the Baseus 100W 4 Port Charger.
Unitek 140W 3 Port Charger
The Unitek 140W charger is the ultimate type of USB-C charger to own. You can use the 140W of Power Delivery if you charge one device via the USB-C 1 and 2 ports. However, what is incredible about 140W chargers is that when charging three devices simultaneously, this Unitek charger outputs 65W from the USB-C 1 port, USB-C 2 outputs 45W, and the USB-A port outputs 18W.
You can charge your Surface Pro 7 from the USB-C 1 port while charging another laptop and phone. In my review for this Unitek 140W charger, I could easily charge two power banks, one at 65W and another at 45W, and fast charge my Galaxy Note 9 from the USB-A port. This charger comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable. Watch my video review of the Unitek 140W 3 Port Charger.
UGREEN 145W Power Bank
The UGREEN 145W power bank is one of the most powerful portable chargers I have reviewed. The charger has two USB-C ports and a single USB-A port. The USB-C 1 port on the UGREEN power bank can always output 100W of Power Delivery, the USB-C 2 can output 45W, and the USB-A port outputs 18W.
You can fast charge your Surface Pro 7 via the USB-C 1 port and still use 45W from USB-C 2 simultaneously; this makes it possible to fast charge your Surface Pro 7 while also charging another laptop. Most power banks are not able to charge two power banks at the same time. The UGREEN 145W power bank also has a 25,000mAh battery capacity; in my review, the UGREEN 145W power bank is recharged via the USB-C 1 port because it has a faster 65W recharging speed. Watch my video review of the UGREEN 145W Power Bank.
Baseus 160W Car Charger
If you want to charge your Surface Pro 7 while driving, that is possible with a car charger, or you can use a power bank like I recommended. The Baseus 160W car charger is one of the most powerful car chargers I’ve reviewed. The Baseus car charger can output 100W via its USB-C 1 port and 30W from its USB-C 2 and USB-A ports. You can fast charge your Surface Pro 7 from the USB-C 1 port while charging another two devices simultaneously. This car charger does come with a USB-C to USB-C cable. Watch my video review of the Baseus 160W Car Charger.
Final thoughts about my choice of Chargers for the Surface Pro 7
The Surface Pro 7 is a bit of a game changer in terms of charging because you can now use the USB-C or Surface Connect port for charging. USB-C charging is much more accessible, allowing you to use various chargers.
