Best Chargers for Surface Pro 9 in 2023

(Last Updated On: February 19, 2023)

Microsoft has made some significant innovations in recent years regarding its portable PC lineup, specifically with the Surface Pro devices. The Surface Pro has been able to deliver the benefits of being a laptop and a tablet while still being incredibly portable. At this point, with the Surface Pro 9, specs are better than ever, and thankfully there is no longer a 4GB version. We’re finally at a point where 8GB is the starting RAM that you can choose from.

The most notable part of the Surface Pro 9 is that it has a regular Wifi version and a Pro 9 5G version, both models are good, but battery power for Surface devices has never been a strong suit, especially in this case since 5G can drain the power of the Pro 9 pretty quickly. In this guide, I recommend a few chargers you can use in case you’ve lost your original Surface Connect charger and want a more accessible way to charge via USB-C.

UGREEN Nexode 140W USB-C Power Delivery Wall Charger

The charger I want to recommend is this UGREEN 140W charger, and this has to be one of the best all-around types of charger I’ve reviewed because this charger has so much power. The full 140W of this charger can be used if you’re only charging a single device from the USB-C 1 port; that’s more than enough to fast charge the Surface Pro 9.

No matter how many devices you’re charging with this UGREEN charger, you can still fast charge your Surface Pro 9 even if all the ports are being used. Charging from USB-C 1 and USB-C 2 simultaneously will produce a 65W Power Delivery output. Charging from all three ports simultaneously will result in a 22.5W charge rate for the USB-A port; USB-C 2 will output 45W, and the USB-C 1 port will output 65W. So it’s best to stick to charging from USB-C 1 for your Surface Pro 9.

Considering the 140W output, this charger is also tiny because it uses GaN and comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable.

KOVOL 140W 2 Port Power Delivery Wall Charger

On the more simple and more affordable side, there’s this KOVOL 140W charger. You can use the full 140W from the USB-C port; the other is a USB-A port. When using both ports simultaneously, the USB-C port will output 120W, and the USB-A output will be 18W. So you will always be able to fast charge your Surface Pro 9. Even with its high output, this KOVOL charger only has a 3-inch length, although it has a hefty weight of 11 ounces. Simple but very powerful for nearly all your USB-C changing needs.

Baseus 65W 3 Port GaN PD Wall Charger

Going lower on the charging power, there’s this Baseus 65W wall charger. The charger has two USB-C ports and a single USB-A port. You can use the full 65W from USB-C 1 if you’re only charging your Surface Pro 9 alone, which will be able to fast charge it. If you’re charging multiple devices simultaneously from this Baseus charger, then the fastest you’ll be able to charge your Pro 9 is 45W.

For example, charging three devices simultaneously will result in a 15W shared output from USB-C 2 and the USB-A port, while USB-C 1 outputs 45W. Also, when charging from both USB-C ports, the power split is 45W and 18W, which lets you charge your Surface Pro 9 and fast charge a phone.

UGREEN 100W 4 Port Power Delivery Desktop Charger

As an alternative to a wall charger, I recommend a desktop charger. Desktop chargers are the same as wall chargers but use a power cord. A power cord is a lot better for easier placement of the charger. In this case, I’m recommending another UGREEN charger, their 100W four-port desktop charger.

When charging a single device from this charger, USB-C 1 and USB-C 2 will output 100W, while USB-C 3 and the USB-A port will output 22.5W. Also, for fast charging your Surface Pro 9, it’s best to stick to charging from USB-C 1 at all times because when charging two devices simultaneously, the USB-C 1 port will output 65W.

The USB-C 1 port will drop down to a 45W Power Delivery charge rate if you charging four devices simultaneously, so charging for your Surface Pro 9 will slow down.

INIU 65W 20,000mAh PD Power Bank

Another great thing about the Surface Pro 9 being able to charge from USB-C is that you can use a powerful enough power bank to charge it. This INIU B63 power bank has a 65W USB-C Power Delivery port that can fast charge the Surface Pro 9. There is also a 30W USB-C port and a USB-A port. The 65W USB-C port drops to a 45W charging rate if you’re charging from multiple ports simultaneously.

Since this power bank has a 25,000mAh (92Wh) capacity, and the Surface Pro 9 has about a 46Wh battery, you can recharge the Pro 9 to its full power for about a single time and have spare capacity left over. Recharging this power bank is also pretty fast, with a 45W PD recharge rate.

Baseus Blade 100W 20,000mAh PD Power Bank

The Baseus Blade power bank is one of the highest-rated because of what it offers, the price isn’t too bad, and the specs are great. The main reason to get the Baseus Blade is its 100W Power Delivery output from either its USB-C 1 or USB-C 2 port; this enables you to fast charge the Surface Pro 9 no matter where you are. Additionally, two USB-A ports have a 30W charging speed.

Recharging this power bank is also fast, with a 65W input speed. The 20,000mAh capacity of this Baseus power bank is enough for the Pro 9 to get to full power at least once.

Not charging-related, but something very important is that this power bank has a screen at the top that shows the remaining runtime, voltage, amperage, and capacity. Not many power banks offer those specs in real-time.

Another car charger I recommend is this Baseus 65W car charger. So you can use the total 65W from the USB-C port when charging one device. If you’re charging from the USB-C and the USB-A port, the car charger has a 45W and an 18W split.
