Best Fast Charging Power Banks for iPhone XS / XS Max / iPhone XR

(Last Updated On: September 18, 2018)

The iPhone X that was released last year was quite a game changer because of its use of a notch and it basically put Apple into the game of creating a bezel-less smartphone. The other thing is that it made the iPhone even more premium with the phone being made of full stainless steel, the screen made use of OLED rather than LCD, and it received quite a large upgrade with its performance specs.

Now with the release of the iPhone XS, XS Max, and the iPhone XR, things are faster than ever. Well, this year, it’s more of an increment change, but if there’s one thing that’s welcome once again with the new iPhones it would have to be the usage of Power Delivery with them. This is great because it means that you’ll be able to use a wider range of Power Delivery charging electronics to fast charge your phone. In this case, though, we’re going to be focusing on Power Delivery portable chargers that you can use to charge your iPhone XS and iPhone XR.

Just something to know before you read any further. In order to actually charge your iPhone with a USB-C port, you have to use a USB-C to Lightning charging cable.

Jackery SuperCharge 10,200mAh Power Delivery Portable Charger

When it comes to Power Delivery portable chargers, they’re made mostly for the purpose of charging larger Power Delivery compatible devices such as laptops and tablets. The reason that we say that is because many of them make use of high power capacities and that tends to make them larger. Now, we are going to mention quite a few high capacity power banks, but for the first two, they’re going to be mid-range ones that can still fast charge your iPhone XR and the iPhone XS.

The first Power Delivery portable charger is this Jackery SuperCharge. The charger makes use of a 10,200mAh power capacity, so it can charge most smartphones to full power about two times if that’s all you’re charging with this power bank. There are two ports.

One is a USB-C Power Delivery port with an 18W charging speed, and an 18W charging rate or higher is basically what you need to fast charge an iPhone with Power Delivery. If a power bank has a USB-C port with a 15W charging speed and the brand is claiming that it can fast charge an iPhone then that’s not correct. The other port on this power bank is a USB-A port with a 5V/2.4A charging speed.

To recharge this power bank you have to use the USB-C port, and you can recharge it at Power Delivery speeds when you use a Power Delivery wall charger. The downside is that this power bank does not come with a Power Delivery wall charger so you have to purchase one separately.

Aukey 18W 10,000mAh Power Delivery Portable Charger

One other other mid-range Power Delivery portable charger is this Aukey power bank. The charger has the same power capacity as the previous Jackery one that we mentioned, as this one also has a 10,000mAh power capacity.

This charger does feature three ports, two of which are USB-A ports with one featuring Quick Charge and the other one is a standard port that has a 5V/2.4A charging speed. The other port is, of course, the USB-C Power Delivery port that has an 18W charging speed. So there are actually two fast charging technologies on this power bank.

The form factor of this Aukey power bank is great and that’ because it has a length of only 5.9 inches, a width of 2.9 inches, and the thickness of the power bank is 0.5 inches. So the charger can easily fit into your pocket, if you want to hold it and use your phone at the same time, then you can just stack your phone on top of the power bank.

Anker PowerCore+ 26800 Power Delivery Portable Charger

Then there are high capacity power banks that feature Power Delivery. This is Anker’s PowerCore+ 26800 charger that has a very high power capacity of 26,800mAh. With this much power, you’re able to charge a smartphone to its full power about 7 times, if that’s the only device that you’re charging with it. It’s also useful for charging laptops and tablets to full power multiples times, and charging a laptop like a MacBook with this power bank is perfect as the Power Delivery charging is quite powerful.

There are three ports on this power bank. There are two USB-A ports with each of them using a 5V/2.4A charging speed and the max output of the USB-A ports is 3A. The USB-C Power Delivery port has a 30W charging rate, which is quite a lot more powerful than an 18W charging rate, but just because it’s higher doesn’t change anything and so you’re still able to fast charge an iPhone XS and an iPhone XR with it. In fact, having a more powerful Power Delivery port is a lot more helpful as you’re able to charge a MacBook laptop at a faster speed with it and also a few other Power Delivery compatible laptops.

For recharging this power bank, you have to use the USB-C port, but that’s not a problem at all as this PowerCore+ actually comes with a 1-port 30W Power Delivery wall charger that you can use to recharge this Anker bank at its max charging speed. The other benefit is that you can use the wall charger to also charge your iPhone at its max charging speed, too.

Jackery 45W  26,800mAh Power Delivery Portable Charger with Quick Charge

This Jackery SuperCharge power bank is quite similar to the previous Anker power bank that we just mentioned, as this one also has a very high power capacity of 26,800mAh. So there’s plenty of power to be used to charge small and large devices to full power many times over.

On this power bank though, there are two ports. The USB-C Power Delivery charging is more powerful as it has a 45W charging speed and you can, therefore, use it to fast charge Power Delivery compatible smartphones and also more powerful Power Delivery compatible laptops. The reason we say that is because there are laptops that require more than 30W of power to actually charge such as the Dell XPS 13 laptop that needs 45W of charging power to actually charge and that’s what this Jackery SuperCharge power bank is capable of.

The other port is a Quick Charge port and so you can fast charge Quick Charge compatible smartphones at their max charging speed. So there are actually two fast charging technologies.

An added benefit of getting this power bank is that it also comes with a 1-port 45W Power Delivery wall charger that can be used to recharge the power bank at its max charging speed.

Dodocool 45W 20,100mAh Power Delivery Portable Charger

One other Power Delivery portable charger that we wanted to recommend is this more standard type of high capacity power bank, which is the Dodocool 45W Power Delivery portable charger. The charger has a high capacity of 20,100mAh, so it might not have as much as the previous two power banks that we mentioned but it’s still a good amount that can be used to charge smartphones many times over and most laptops can be charged about two times.

The charging is very powerful though. There are two USB-A ports with each of them outputting a 5V/2.4A charging speed. The USB-C Power Delivery port has a 45W charging rate, so just like the Jackery Supercharge, this one is also capable of charging larger Power Delivery compatible devices.

To recharge this power bank you have to use the USB-C port, and it is compatible with Power Delivery. However, the downside is that this power bank does not come with a wall charger, so you have to provide your own. The max recharge rate of the power bank is 30W, so a 30W Power Delivery wall charger will be able to recharge the power bank at its max charging speed. The good is that it comes with a USB-C to USB-C charging cable, though.
