Best Power Banks for Handbags and Traveling

(Last Updated On: August 2, 2018)

To put it basically, any and all power banks can basically be taken anywhere that you want as they all have onboard batteries that allow you not to be reliant on a wall charger. However, depending on the type of portability that you want, that’s where you have to be careful about what portable charger you’re going to be getting and that’s because they come in all sorts of different power capacities. Most might say that if you’re traveling, that you should get a power bank that has a very low power capacity and you’ll be good to go.

Well, that’s not entirely true, as something as low capacity as a 3,000mAh power bank can barely charge smartphones to full power and you might want to charge tablets and laptops while you’re traveling. So in this guide, we’re going to be covering the most useful power banks to have with you while you’re traveling which are ones that can easily fit into your handbag and you can use when you really need them.

Anker PowerCore 10000pic-1

The first and most simple portable charger that we’ve mentioned many times here at Charger Harbor would have to be Anker’s PowerCore 1000 portable charger. The charger, of course, has a 10,000mAh power capacity that can be useful for charging most smartphones to full power about two times. Perhaps the best part of this 10,000mAh power bank is that it uses just a single USB port and that means you can only dedicate the power capacity to just a single device.

Another great factor of this charger because of its use of a single port is that it has a very small form factor even with its 10,000mAh power capacity. So the charger has a length of 3.6 inches and a thickness of 0.9 inches, which makes it very easy to place it into a back pocket with ease.

The charging speed form the single port on this power bank is 5V/2.4A and even though it’s not Quick Charge, it’s a fast standard charging speed that is able to charge smartphones and tablets at a fast enough rate.

Aukey 10,000mAh USB-C 18W Power Delivery Portable Charger with Quick Charge

One of the best parts about power banks these days is that even the smaller and lower capacity ones are now making use of fast charging technologies and in this case, it would be this Aukey 10,000mAh power bank. The charger has enough power to charge a smartphone to full power about two times, but the most notable part is that it makes use of Power Delivery and Quick Charge, while most power banks on the market just make use of one fast charging technology.

That said, the Power Delivery charging rate on this power bank is on the lower level and it can really only charge Power Delivery compatible smartphones at their max charging speed. Those Power Delivery compatible smartphones include the Galaxy S8, S9, Google Pixel 2, iPhone X, Essential Phone and any other Power Delivery compatible phone. There are a total of three output ports on this charger, two USB- ports and of course the USB-C port.

One of the USB-A ports uses Quick Charge, while the other one is a standard 5V/2.4A port that’s useful for standard devices.

When it comes to recharging this power bank, you can recharge it at Power Delivery speeds if you use a Power Delivery wall charger, but the power bank does not come with one.

Even with all the powerful charging and the mid-range power capacity, this Aukey power bank still maintains a small form factor with it having a length of 5.8 inches and a thickness of 0.5 inches. Making it a power bank that can easily fit into a handbag, purse or you can slide it right into your pocket.

EasyAcc MegaCharge 16,750mAh Power Bank with Quick Charge and 5A Input

Going higher in the power capacity range, this EasyAcc power bank is one of EasyAcc’s best and that’s because of its output and input recharging. The power capacity is also great on this charger as it has a 16,750mAh initial power capacity and with its output capacity that you can actually use, this charger has enough power to charge most smartphones to full power about 3.5 times and you can also charge tablets to full power about one time.

The two charging ports on this power bank are one Quick Charge port and a standard port that thas a 5V/3.0A charging speed. You can still charge Non-Quick Charge compatible smartphones with the Quick Charge port, and so the Quick Charge port will simply default to a 5V/3.0A charging speed. The recharging for this MegaCharge power bank is really where its power is. That’s because the charger makes use of two input ports.

There’s a USB-C input with a 3A recharge speed and a Micro-USB input with a 2A recharging speed. You can use both of the input ports together to recharge this power bank at a 5A recharge speed and that will result in a 3.5 hour full recharge time. Not bad at all for a 16,750mAh power bank.

Along with all this power, the size of this charger is slightly smaller than an iPhone 7 Plus with it having a length of only 5.3 inches and a width of 2.9 inches.

RAVPower 20,100mAh Power Bank with Quick Charge and USB-Cpic-12

This RAVpower 20,100mAh portable charger is quite a higher capacity power bank, and it’s one that has gained quite a lot of praise while it’s been on the market. The power capacity is enough to charge most smartphones to full power about 5 times if that’s all you’re using this power bank for. Charging tablets and even laptops with this power bank are also possible because of the USB-C port, but it’s going to take a large chunk of the power capacity to do so.

There are a total of three ports on this RAVPower portable charger. There are two USB-A ports, with one using Quick Charge and the other one is a standard 5V/2.4A charging speed. The one other output on this power bank is a USB-C port with a 5V/3.0A (15W) charging speed and it’s by no means a Power Delivery USB-C port, but it can charge a USB-C MacBook, just not at its max charging speed. To recharge the power bank, there are two input ports that you can use but they can also be used once at a time.

The Micro-USB input uses Quick Charge and the USB-C port has a 5V/3.0A recharging speed. So if you want to recharge the power bank as fast as possible, then we recommend that you use the Micro-USB input with a Quick Charge wall charger.

Jackery SuperCharge 45W USB-C Power Delivery Portable Charger

This is another 26,800mAh power bank but this one comes from Jackery and the main reason to get this power bank is that it features some powerful Power Delivery charging. So this is definitely the type of power bank to get if you have a USB-C Power Delivery compatible laptop and that’s because it has a very high power capacity and the USB-C Power Delivery port on this power bank has a 45W charging speed.

Most Power Delivery portable chargers on the market simply use a 30W charging speed. With the fast charging speed, this ensures that your USB-C laptop will be able to charge at a faster speed. That said, it’s not compatible with all Power Delivery laptops and we recommend taking a look at the charging power requirements of your laptop before purchasing this power bank. For example, this SuperCharge portable charger is able to charge the Dell XPS 13 because it takes 45W of Power Delivery charging speed and nothing lower. At the same time, the Dell XPS 15, it not able to charge with anything lower than a 60W charging speed so this power bank will not be able to charge it.

With all that said, this can be a perfect portable charger for a MacBook that uses USB-C.

Despite its very high power capacity, the charging options with this power bank are very limited as there are only two ports. There’s a USB-A port that uses Quick Charge and the USB-C Power Delivery port.

You can actually recharge this power bank at a Power Delivery speed with a Power Delivery wall charger, and the best part is that the power bank comes with a 45W USB-C Power Delivery wall charger which means that you can recharge it at max power right out of the box.
