Best Power Delivery Portable Chargers for Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon / X1 Yoga

(Last Updated On: July 29, 2020)

If you’re going to be purchasing a laptop then it’s a good idea to look for one that features a USB-C port for charging and that’s because the charging experience with the laptop becomes more accessible. USB-C Power Delivery is spreading by storm with a laptop, and the results are that you’re able to charge them with not only wall chargers, but there are also Power Delivery portable chargers and car chargers that allow you to charge a laptop while you’re on the move.

Two quite popular laptops that use the USB-C standard quite liberally, meaning that you can use quite a lot of Power Delivery chargers with them and it’ll charge the laptops, are the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon and also the Lenovo X1 Yoga. In this guide, we’re going to be going over what are the best types of Power Delivery portable chargers you’re able to use with both the ThinkPad X1 and also the X1 Yoga, as making the use of Power Delivery charging with a power bank is the best way to make use of the charging tech.

Power Banks in this Guide:

RAVPower 26,800mAh Power Delivery Portable Charger

The first Power Delivery portable charger is RAVPower’s 26,800mAh power bank. The charger has a very high power capacity that’s a necessity when it comes to charging laptops. In this case, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1, and an X1 Yoga have a battery capacity of about 7,000mAh. Of course, this is good because the battery can last for a while when you’re not charging it, but when it comes to refilling it with a power bank, then having a high capacity portable charger is worth it.

Since this power bank has a 26,800mAh power capacity you’re able to charge either of the two laptops to their full power about 2.5 times. However, if you do want to charge a laptop to full power multiple times, you’re going to have to dedicate the entire power capacity to charge the laptop. This power bank makes use of multiple ports allowing you to charge other devices at the same time which can split up the capacity to other devices.

There are a total of three ports on this power bank. The USB-C Power Delivery has a 30W charging rate, which is the minimum that you should be getting with a Power Delivery portable charger to charge your laptop. An 18W Power Delivery power bank just won’t cut it in this case. The other two pots are USB-A ports that each have a 5V/2.4A charging speed and they share a 3.4A max output.

To recharge this power bank you have two options, you can either use the Micro-USB input that has a slow recharging rate of 5V/2.1A. The USB-C Power Delivery port can also be used to recharge this power bank at Power Delivery speeds when you use a Power Delivery wall charger. However, this power bank does not come with a Power Delivery wall charger so you’ll have to purchase one separately.

iMuto 20,100 45W USB-C Power Delivery Portable Charger

From here on out, we’re going to be switching to lower capacity portable chargers, so these power banks feature less power to use, but the charging power concerning Power Delivery is the same as the other Power Delivery power banks that we’ve mentioned.

This iMuto power bank has a 20,100mAh power capacity, so it’s quite a bit less than the other chargers that we’ve talked about, but it’s still a high capacity. You can use this power to charge the Lenovo laptops to full power about 1.5 times. The charging from this iMuto power bank is quite similar to the Jackery SuperCharge.

This charger only makes use of two output ports, with one being a powerful 45W USB-C Power Delivery port and the other one is a USB-A port that makes use of Quick Charge. To recharge it, you can either use the Micro-USB input with a 5V/2.0A recharge rate. Or you can use the Power Delivery port to recharge the power bank.

However, this power bank does not come with a Power Delivery wall charger so you’ll have to provide your own to recharge it at its max charging speed.

Dodocool 45W 20,100mAh Power Delivery Portable Charger

This Dodocool power bank is a great, more standard type of a high capacity power bank as it makes use of a 20,100mAh power capacity and it also has three ports.

The USB-C Power Delivery port has a 45W charging speed, and it still makes use of two USB-A ports that each have a 5V/2.4A charging speed. You can recharge the power bank at Power Delivery speeds, but again, you have to provide your Power Delivery wall charger because this one does not come with one.

The form factor of this power bank is also pretty good, as it’s about the same size as a smartphone and the part that makes it seem large is the weight of 1 pound. We found that fitting this power bank into a pocket is possible, just not for a long duration or else it would get uncomfortable.

Aukey 30,000mAh Power Bank with 30W Power Delivery Charging

One other Power Delivery portable charger that we had to add and has the highest power capacity within this guide would have to be Aukey’s Power Delivery charger. The charger has a 30,000mAh power capacity, so if you’re using the power bank to solely charge your laptop you can very well end up with three full charges. Of course, this much power can also be used to charge other devices too.

There are three output ports. The USB-C Power Delivery port has a 30W charging speed, and there are two USB-A ports. One of the USB-A ports features Quick Charge so you can fast charge Quick Charge compatible smartphones at their max charging speed. The other port has a standard 5V/2.4A charging speed. So this power bank has it with its charging power.

The same is true for recharging, as you can use one of two ports to recharge the power bank. The Micro-USB input can be used to recharge the power bank at a 5V.2.0A recharge rate, but that’s slow, especially for its 30,000mAh power capacity. That’s why it’s better to opt for using the USB-C Power Delivery port to recharge the power bank at Power Delivery speeds but you’ll have to purchase a separate Power Delivery wall charger because this Aukey power bank does not come with one.

Just make sure that the Power Delivery wall charger is 30W to recharge the power bank at its max charging speed.

Pros for Aukey 30,000mAh 30W Power Delivery Portable Charger

  • Massive 30,000mAh power capacity
  • 30W USB-C Power Delivery port, the power bank also has a Quick Charge port and a standard 12W port
  • Can be recharged at Power Delivery speeds with a PD wall charger
  • The power bank comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable

Cons for Aukey 30,000mAh 30W Power Delivery Portable Charger

  • This power bank does not come with a Power Delivery wall charger
