Another big improvement is that jump starters use high Power Delivery charging output, with some using up to 100W of Power Delivery for input and output.

This review looks at this JOMGAND JQ3500 3500A portable jump starter. The unit has a 3500A peak power output which is pretty high, and has a good chance of jump-starting most batteries; the even better part is that it features a 100W USB-C port. Let’s take a closer look.

Jump Starting Power

The 3500A peak current power of this JOMGAND jump starter is the main reason to purchase it. 3500A peak current is very powerful and can easily jump-start most batteries no matter how weak they are, so reliability is already high. The jump starter works well for 10-liter gas engines and 8.5 Diesel engines, and as long as you’re using it with a 12V battery, you can use this jump starter.

Power Capacity

The power capacity of this JOMGAND jump starter is 24,000mAh, so it’s slightly higher than comparably powered ones. The capacity is enough to perform 60 jump starts, and that’s a ton when you consider that you’ll rarely ever have to use this jump starter when your battery is too weak to start your car. So even after just one jump starts on a weak battery, you can continue storing it in your car without recharging it.

On the capacity side, since this jump starter does have a 100W USB-C Power Delivery port, you can use it to charge phones, tablets, or laptops. You can likely charge most phones to their full power about three or four times. Tablets and laptops may fair a single full charge from the capacity, with some spare power left over. That said, you probably won’t use this jump starter to charge your laptop much, but the option is there if you ever need to.

Charging Power

The charging power from the ports is impressive from this JOMGAND jump starter because it has a USB-C port with a 100W Power Delivery output and a USB-A port that features Quick Charge of up to 18W. A 100W Power Delivery charging speed can fast charge most devices that can charge via a USB-C port.

For my testing, I could charge my Lenovo Flex 5 laptop at its max charging speed of 30W while also fast charging my Samsung Galaxy Note 9. This charging power can almost make you want to use this jump starter as a regular everyday power bank because you can fast charge your devices. Of course, the main thing stopping you from using this as a daily driver power bank is the size and weight.

Recharging the JOMGAND Jump Starter

The recharging is as good as the jump starting power and the charging output because you can recharge the unit at 100W of Power Delivery. However, you must provide your own 100W Power Delivery charger because this unit does not have one. That said, recharging this jump starter at 100W is insanely fast, and in case you need it at a good capacity very quickly, it can be done compared to some jump starters with a 15W recharge speed.

The jump starter does come with a USB-C to USB-A cable and a USB-C to USB-C cable, though.

Also included in the box is a car charging cable that can recharge the jump starter at 60W while driving.

Size and Design

This one is a bit large for a 24,000mAh 3500A peak current jump starter, but that’s what you can expect from this powerful jump starter. The unit has a length of 8 inches, a width of 4 inches, and a thickness of 1.5 inches. The weight of the jump starter is 3 pounds. So not exactly small or lightweight, and that’s fine considering that you will likely store it in your car.

When it comes to jump-starting your car, you have to plug the jumper cables into the jump starter and connect them to the battery you’re jump-starting; then, the voltage of the battery appears on the jump starter, and the green light turns on to show that you’re ready to start your car.

Also shown on the screen is the remaining battery capacity. To the sides of the jump-starter, you’ll find the ports and an LED flashlight with three settings: constant on white mode, red SOS mode, and SOS flashing mode.

Build Quality

The build quality of this JOMGAND jump starter fits the build of other well-known brands. The unit has a solid build to it, but if you choose to store it in your car, I recommend placing it in a carrying case to ensure that it’s safe from too many bumps. That said, a carrying case isn’t necessary. The main concern is ensuring the jump starter has time to cool down if your car doesn’t start on the first jump-start attempt.

Conclusion

The JOMGAND 3500A portable jump starter is a solid device that will likely jump-start your car if you ever need it, simply because a 3500A peak current is a lot of power and more reliable than a 2000A jump starter, along with the 100W USB-C Power Delivery port and many accessories included in the box.
