There are a range of power stations, which is excellent because you can choose one specifically for your needs. Some power stations can potentially last for weeks and power nearly any appliance; however, for some consumers, that can be too much on the power and price sides. If you want a power bank that still uses an AC outlet and a high capacity, consider this Powdeom 158Wh mini power station.

In this review, I’m taking a closer look at what this Powdeom mini power station offers. This incredibly small power source can be handy for powering smaller, lower-wattage appliances, and the most important part is that it’s tiny with all the power it has.

Power Capacity

This Powdeom mini power station has a 158Wh capacity, and in terms of Mili Amp Hours, that would be 43,200mAh. So it’s the capacity of a high-capacity power bank, and since this unit has an AC outlet, I thought, why not test out the AC capacity? So I used a watt meter with the AC outlet, plugged in a mini crockpot set it to its high setting with a power output of about 90W; I ran the crockpot until the power station went from 100% to 0% to see how much power I could pull from it.

Once the power station was at 0%, the watt meter read 130Wh of AC capacity, and that means I could use about 82% of the original capacity that this power station has, which is good in my book. You’re spending money wisely if you choose to purchase this power station.

With the efficiency out of the way, when charging with a 158Wh capacity, you can charge most phones to full power about 4-5 times or more. You can charge tablets and laptops to full power about once or twice.

When it comes to powering appliances, since this power station has a 150W max output, if you’re powering a 150W appliance, then you can get about just under an hour of runtime. Powering a light source that would usually be rated anywhere from 5W to 20W, this power station would last a few hours.

Output Charging

The output selection is pretty good for a mini power station like this one. The unit has five charging ports, including four USB-A ports, one of which is a USB-A Quick Charge port and a single USB-C Power Delivery port with a 65W output. A DC barrel port with a 12V/10A (120W) output can charge or power certain appliances. Of course, there’s the main attraction for this power station, and that would be the single AC outlet.

The charging ports are great for a small unit like this one, especially the Quick Charge USB-A port and the 65W USB-C Power Delivery port; the USB-C port can be used to fast charge most USB-C chargeable laptops. In my testing, I could fast charge my Samsung Galaxy Note 9 from the USB-A Quick Charge port while also charging my Lenovo laptop from the USB-C PD port.

The AC outlet can take either two-prong or three-prong plugs, and since this power station has a 150W max output, you have to know your expectation on what you’re planning on powering from it. In my case, I tested the mini crockpot at its high setting, which had a 90W power output, and that got me about an hour of runtime with the power station. Also, the crockpot ran with no problems.

So the AC outlet on this Powdeom power station is best for those low-wattage appliances, especially light sources such as lamps that can last for hours with their low power output. The AC outlet can also be great for powering laptop charging bricks.

Also, if you’re wondering, this Powdeom mini power station does feature pass-through charging, so you can use the AC outlet and recharge it simultaneously.

Input Charging

Recharging for this Powdeom mini power station is fast enough for the dual charging option. The box includes a 30W AC adapter, which is a pretty slow charging speed for a 158Wh power station; the good news is that you can also recharge from the USB-C port, which has a 65W recharging rate.

The best part is that you can recharge this power station from the AC charger and the USB-C port simultaneously, giving you a 95W recharging speed to get this power station back to full power from 0% to 100% in about 2 hours. That’s exactly what I did, and I got a little better than 95W and instead got a 100W recharging speed.

Size and Weight

This is a mini power station with a length of 7.5 inches and a width of 3.5 inches. The power station weighs about 7 pounds. With the handle at the top, portability is made more accessible, and you can take this power station with you nearly anywhere; whether it’s camping, biking, or on a road trip, it can be great for daily use, too.

Functional Components

This Powdeom power station’s functional parts, including the charging ports, AC outlet, and power buttons, are off to the side. To power the charging ports, you do have to press the power button, and when powered on, there is a screen that shows the remaining capacity—a LED flashlight on the unit with a constant on mode, strobe, and SOS mode.

The AC outlet on this power station has one power button and a green light showing whether it’s on or off.

Build Quality

The build for this Powdeom power station is solid. The unit is well put together as any other power station I’ve reviewed, and I think it’s made of Aluminum, or possibly plastic; honestly, I’m not sure, but it feels like it’s made of Aluminum. The only thing to be careful of is dropping the power station and exposing it to water. Going over the 150W max output is fine because the power station automatically shuts down, and you can turn it back on to continue using it.

Reliability

If the capacity, port selection, and max output work for you, this Powdeom mini power station will be reliable. This is a good choice if you’re not looking to power something over 150W. The price for this unit is also very low considering what it features. Some regular power banks with no AC outlet are priced higher than this.
