The iPhone X is the best iPhone yet. Some might say that it’s way too expensive and that it’s not really worth the price. However, just taking a step back and considering just how powerful it is and the quality that goes into it, the price doesn’t exactly seem too exuberant. Well, yeah, of course, we understand that it’s not a cheap smartphone by any means but it’s a definite upgrade from the previous iPhones as it has a near bezel-less screen. Despite the Notch, the screen is also AMOLED which was a long time coming for iPhones.

Put it all together and you’ve got yourself a powerhouse of a smartphone that’s that is going to require a good amount of usage and you’re going to have to likely recharge it throughout the day. Using a power bank is a good option, but the use of a battery case can actually be a better choice as it’s a power bank that’s basically in the shape of the iPhone X.

This Alpatonix BXX iPhone X battery case seems to be a popular choice to purchase for iPhone X users and that’s because of the charging power and user experience that it’s able to offer. So let’s see what it has to feature with its charging power and usability.

Power

Power Capacity:

Battey Cases have come a long way from when they were first introduced to the market as most of them had lower capacities. This battery case though, actually has a good amount of power capacity 4,200mAh. It’s a very high capacity power capacity, and even though it’s not the amount that you’re actually able to use to charge your iPhone X, due to the conversion of power during charging. It stills holds up.

The battery is rated 3.7 Volts so let’s just calculate how much power you’re actually gong to be able to make use of.

3.7 x 4,200 = 15,540 / 5 = 3,108

1 Full Charge

The amount of capacity that you’re actually able to use is about 3,108mAh and this is still a lot of power when it comes to charging the iPhone X with its 2,716mAh battery. As a result, you’re able to get one full charge to your iPhone X. So you can potentially use the entire power from your smartphone and have this battery case charge it up for the next day and still keep using your iPhone X constantly without having to directly recharge.

Even when it comes to recharging, you’re most likely going to just recharge this battery case as it can be most helpful in those need type of situations.

Output Charging:

This Alaptronix battery uses a Lightning connector and it has a charging rate of 5V/1.5A. Not the fastest changing speed that an iPhone X can recharge at, as the max charging speed is Power Delivery speeds for charging. That said, a 1.5 Amp charging speed for a battery case is actually quite impressive as the reason a battery case can’t have a very fast charging speed is that it’s a power bank in the shape of a case.

Therefore, having a very high charging rate can risk high temperatures and possibly cause damage to your smartphone or the battery case itself. It doesn’t have a fast charging rate as a whole but is quite fast when it comes to battery case charging.

Input Charging:

There are two main ways to recharge this power bank and this is where this battery case shines the most. That would be because you can use either the Micro-USB input to recharge this power bank. Or you wirelessly recharge this battery case. That’s right, this Alpatronix battery case features Qi wireless charging and so you can set the iPhone X with the battery case on it and have the battery case recharge through a wireless charger.

The Micro-USB input recharging is the faster option for recharging with its 5V/1.5A recharging speed. While the Qi wireless recharging rate is 5V/1.2A.

When it comes to recharging this battery case wirelessly, any wireless charger will do and you don’t have to worry about Fast Wireless charging as the 5V1.0A recharge rate that it does wirelessly is what most wireless chargers are capable of outputting. Another thing is that when you are using a wireless charger to recharge this battery case, it only recharges the battery case, not the iPhone X as the case is too thick as it has its own coil.

However, it’s also important to know that the iPhone X is Qi compatible and can, therefore, charge wirelessly too without the battery case on.

Design

Size and Weight:

The size of this battery case isn’t overbearing, that said, you can’t expect it to be the size and thinness of just a regular case and that’s because it has a length of 6.1 inches, a width of 2.9 inches and a thickness of 0.6 inches. The battery case is 3.8 Ounces.

So it will add some bulk to your smartphone, but slightly less than an Otterbox case would.

Functional Components:

Using this battery case is very simple. It’s all just a single piece and in order to fit your iPhone X into the case, all you have to do is just slight the smartphone from the top and into the Lightning connection at the bottom of the battery case.

Once the iPhone X is connected, you can then press the power button at the back to turn on charging and that’s also where the 4 White LED power capacity indicators will turn on. Cut-outs of the buttons for this Alpatronix battery are done well but of course, you’re not going to get the same feeling as you would without a case. At the bottom of the battery case is where you can find the Micro-USB input port for recharging.

Build

Structure and Material:

One of the most asked questions when it comes to battery cases is if they’re able to protect against falls and in this case, yes this battery case is able to do so. The back of the iPhone X is fully protected and the front has raised bezels to make sure that you’re screen doesn’t shatter. Not all battery cases are built like this and have much more minimal designs.

Tech:

This battery case does get warm while it’s charging your iPhone X and that’s quite common because of the very small form factor that it has.

Reliability

If you’re searching for a battery case for your iPhone X that’s able to offer an ample amount of power, then this Alplatronix battery case is very well it. As it’s able to offer a full charge, it has wireless and Micro-USB recharging. Along with versatile charging features, it’s also able to keep your iPhone X safe in the event of a fall.

Summary:

Power:

There’s enough power capacity to charge an iPhone X to its full power at least once. It has quite a fast output charging speed of 5V/1.5A. The battery case has two ways to recharge, which include wireless charging and Micro-USB input.

Design:

This battery has a small enough form factor, and it’s easy to use with just the press of a button. Perhaps the most major usability feature is that you can set your iPhone X on a wireless charger with the battery case on and it’ll start to charge the battery case.

    Given stars are for:
    – Good price
    – Communicative support

But unfortunately the product quality is not great. I have a Samsung S8 battery pack from them.
It’s working random, you plug your phone in charger and in the morning you find your phone dead and battery case empty
Also the push button for battery case is annoying since whenever you sit down it’s pressed since it’s big and it turns off the charging mode, also by holding it for longer it will TURN OFF the battery case which I’m not sure why we have this feature, besides it won’t get charged or charge the battery until you turn it on again which doesn’t have any indicator to tell if it’s on or off.

I won’t recommend this unit since the CS also mentioned their design has issue and they returned the units to engineers in design team to work more on it.
