The PowerCore Elite has a power capacity of 20,000mAh and for the Output power capacity, it can fluctuate because the power bank has 3 Output charging ports. Overall it’s going to depend on how many devices you’re going to be charging at once to really say how much Output power capacity you’re actually going to be receiving.

With that said we’re going to assume that for the most part, you’re going to be charging 2 devices at once and the max current that’s being Outputted will be about 3.5A. Then you can expect an Output power capacity of about 17,000mAh.

It’s important to know and remember that this power bank does not use Panasonic battery cells, and instead, it uses Lithium Polymer ones which is why conversion may be poorer than other Anker power banks.

Charging Smartphones, Mini Tablets and Full-Sized Tablets to Full Power

With that said, you can still get lots of full charges on plenty of devices, because this power bank is still a high capacity one. For most smartphones, you’ll be able to get 5 full charges or more. As for the tablets, you can expect 2 full charges for small tablets like the iPad Mini 1 and 2 versions.

For full-sized tablets, you’ll be able to get a full charge if you’re only charging it alone because that way you’ll be using the entirety of the power capacity.

It’s a large enough power capacity that you can use for days and possibly for weeks depending on the way you use it. The power capacity is indeed reliable enough for the 3 charging ports it has, it’s just that it’s very reliable when you’re charging small devices like smartphones.

This is mainly because smartphones don’t require a massive amount of power capacity, and the charging speed is going to be at a rather intermediate rate.

This is where things get the most interesting for the PowerCore Elite. That’s because it has 3 charging ports and Anker made sure that each one of the Output ports is very capable of providing an optimal charging experience.

Most of the time with powerful power banks, their standard ports are able to give a Max Standard charging speed of 5V/2.4A. That’s not the case here. Instead, this PowerCore takes it a step further with each of the Output ports being able to Output 5V/3.0A.

Very Fast Charing Through Each Port

So if you have a Quick Charge compatible device, this power bank can charge it near its max charging speed. However, it’s important to know that this power bank does NOT feature Quick Charge but it’s able to reach very close to Quick Charge speeds.

This means that you can charge nearly any USB charging device at its max charging speed. This is definitely true for tablets, as their max charging rate is 2.4 Amps. As for Non-Quick Charge smartphones, this will be able to charge them as their max charging speeds as well.

A Max Output for Stable Fast Charging

Then there’s the fantastic Max Output. The Max Output of this power bank is 6 Amps, and this means that it can Output 6 Amps all at once.

So if you’ve got 3 very high power demanding devices, like 3 iPads connected to the power bank at the same time, then it will be able to Output 2 Amps out of each of its ports so the Max Output of 6 Amps is reached. Even when you’re pushing the charging speed to its max potential it’s still able to give fast charging to nearly any device connected to it. It’s true for iPads and it’s very true for smartphones.

If you’re charging 3 smartphones all at once, then it’s very rare for the power bank to have difficulty providing the optimal amount of power to them; unless if you’re charging 3 Quick Charge compatible devices at once.

One of the most welcoming parts of this power bank is the usage of 2 Micro-USB Input ports. This is an awesome feature that is mostly used with power banks that go beyond the 20,000mAh power capacity but this PowerCore 20000 takes advantage of it.

Each of the Input ports is able to recharge at a 5V/2.0A charging speed. So if you’re using a 2 Amp wall charger or higher that has 2 charging ports rated at 2 Amps, and you’re using the 2 Micro-USB Input ports, then this power bank will be able to fully recharge in just under 6 hours.

This is a phenomenal recharge speed because with another one Anker’s power banks, the PowerCore 20100, that only has 1 Micro-USB Port, the recharge time is about 9 hours long. The usage of 2 Micro-USB Ports is a great step in the right direction because it can ultimately make recharge times for even larger capacity power banks quite short.

In this case, the PowerCore 20000 is able to recharge at 4 Amps! Anker also has another portable charger, the PowerCore 26800, that also uses 2 Micro-USB Input Ports.

Design

Size and Weight:

It’s quite a large power bank and a heavy one at that as well. With that said, it’s nothing absurd and we think that the size is very compliant for what the power bank is capable of concerning its power capacity and charging ports.

It has a length of 6.2 inches, a width of 2.6 inches and a thickness 1.1 inches. It’s quite heavy at 12.3 ounces and yet it’s still not a pound, so we think that’s actually a plus.

It’s indeed possible to hold this power bank while you’re charging something like your smartphone but if you’re charging 2 devices or 3 devices at the same time, then this portable charger isn’t going to be very portable as you’ll have no choice but to set it down.

Placing it into a bag will hold no problems, though.

Functional Components:

We absolutely love the design of this PowerCore Elite. It has all the aesthetic design queues that Anker is known for. With this one, the charger has a slightly curved top and completely flat bottom to it.

The bottom part is where most of the functional components are and this is where you can find the 3 Output ports on the same short-side, there’s a power button on the long side, and the 2 Micro-USB Input ports are on the other long side of the power bank. On top is where there are 4 Blue LED Power capacity indicators.

It’s just as easy to use as other Anker power banks with charging automatically starting when you connect a device to any of the charging ports and charging stops when there aren’t any devices connected. This leaves the power button mainly to be used to check the power capacity when the unit is not in use.

Structure and Material:

This thing is built really well. Anker doesn’t create any rugged power banks and most of the time we feel that is perfectly fine. This is because their power banks are just naturally built like their meant to last forever. Sure, this power bank isn’t waterproof or shockproof from falls.

However, it keeps itself together with just 2 separate pieces keeping it together and it’s all made of plastic.

It’s a perfect portable charger to take with you on road trips, possibly camping and is really meant for everyday use.

Tech:

On the tech side, the PowerCore Elite follows in the footsteps of its predecessors because it uses Anker’s Multi-Safe Protection system that is able to keep charging stably even when you’re charging 3 devices at once. Also, the usage of PowerIQ and Voltage Boost keep charging fast.

Anker states that it uses Advanced Cells for their batteries but we’re pretty sure that it’s just a marketing scheme on their part because they’re not Panasonic battery cells and if they were, then they should have stated it.

Reliability

This power bank is reliably universal. We say that because it isn’t exclusive to any kind of charging technology like Quick Charge or USB-C. This way, anybody can take advantage of the charging power that this power bank has to offer.

Whether it’s people that have USB-C or Quick Charge compatible device, this power bank is still able to accommodate those devices, not only that, they’re able to accommodate those devices very well.

With its fast charging through each of its ports that are up to 5V/3.0A and a Max Output of 6A, this power bank is able to provide a max charging rate for most devices from smartphones to tablets.
