Anker is a brand that many people might know if you’re someone that purchases most of their charging electronics online. In fact, Anker is one of the main reasons that you should purchase your chargers online because of the quality of products that they offer. It has two USB-A ports and yet the wall charger is very powerful on a standard level.
Now, we’re here to review this PowerPort 2 Power Delivery wall charger from. This is a very simple looking wall charger, but at the same time, this wall charger is one of the best simple wall chargers that you can own that offers a whole lot of power. So let’s see what it has to offer.
The charging power from this PowerPort II wall charger is very good even with its two charging ports.
USB-C is the new standard of charging and connectively when it comes to portable devices. As most new Andriod smartphones are being released using USB-C. If an Andriod smartphone is still released with Micro-USB then that’s not really the type of smartphone that you’re going to want to get. Along with USB-C, there’s Power Delivery which is something that’s used with a few USB-C compatible devices.
The great thing about Power Delivery is that it’s universal in comparison to Quick Charge, and Power Delivery is what the USB-C port on this PowerPort II wall charger uses.
If you’re someone that has a USB-C Power Delivery compatible device then this wall charger is definitely the one you should consider purchasing. As the USB-C port on this charger is able to output a charging speed of 30W. 30W of charging power is enough to charge most USB-C Power Delivery smartphones and tablets their max charging speed. Of course, in order to use the USB-C port, you’re going to need a USB-C to USB-C charging cable.
The Google Pixel 2 and the Essential are two popular smartphones that use Power Delivery. Another popular smartphone that nobody really knows that also uses Power Delivery is the iPhone X and iPhone 8. In order to charge either of the iPhones at Power Delivery speeds with this wall charger, you have to use a USB-C to Lightning charging cable.
When the charging power comes to larger devices such as the MacBook and Chromebooks that are USB-C compatible, 30W of charging power is still quite good. That said, 30W of charging power isn’t the highest that Power Delivery can go, as there are also 45W and 60W ones.
The USB-A port on this charger is another part that of this power bank that is also quite powerful and that’s because it uses Anker’s PowerIQ 2.0. Just a fancier way of saying that this wall charger has 19.5W of charging power. So it can charge more standard devices at faster charging speeds. Even though Anker doesn’t state it, the USB-A port on this charger is also able to charge Quick Charge compatible smartphones at their max charging speed.
Size and Weight:
Just like the regular Anker PowerPort 2 wall charger, the portability of this charger is basically the same and that means it’s easy. It has a length/width of 2.7 inches, and a thickness of 1.1 inches. The weight of this charger is 6.4 Ounces. So you can very well just place this charger into a pocket, and take it anywhere with you. What’s better is that it has a retractable AC adapter.
Not really much to say about using his wall charger even though it has some powerful charging, it’s fortunately just as easy to use as any other wall charger. There’s a retractable AC adapter that you use to plug into an AC Outlet and that results in the charger being powered and ready to use. Above the two charging ports, there a Blue LED light that turns on to let you know that the charger is ready to use.
In order to use the USB-C port, you’re going to need a USB-C to USB-C cable to charge USB-C compatible devices. While on the other hand, you’re going to need a USB-C to Lightning cable to charge an iPhone X or iPhone 8 at their max charging speed.
Structure and Material:
The build quality of this charger is very good and that’s precisely what you can expect from Anker.
The charger does get warm if you’re using the full power of Power Delivery. It’s expected though, and if you’re using Power Delivery and the USB-A port at the same time, it still stays a little warm.
The reliability of this wall charger is most reliable if you’re using the USB-C Power Delivery port. So if you do own a Power Delivery compatible device, getting this wall charger is a great choice. The use of a USB-A port on his wall charger for charge standard or Quick Charge compatible devices is a great addition that even adds more value to this charger if you can make use of it.
The charging power is very good with the USB-C and USB-A port.
It’s very easy to take his charger anywhere that you want with its very small and retractable AC adapter.
The build quality is great, and the charger does get a little when you’re using Power Delivery for a long duration of time.
The reliability of this wall charger depends on if you can make use Power Deliver charging. If yes, then we say go for it.
