Wall chargers are used quite a lot, and they’re basically one of the most used types of charging electronics on the market. It makes sense for most smartphones and other portable devices now to come with a wall charger and so people are basically set to use a wall charger for the most part.

However, there are times when a wall charger can break or get lost and so purchasing another one is necessary. The great thing about wall charges being so widespread is that there are tons of brands on the market that do a great job at creating some great wall chargers.

In this case, we’re talking about Aukey, a brand that specializes in creating some great quality charging tech and other devices too. One of the most popular charging electronics that they have for sale is their 2-port wall charger. It might sound strange but it’s small size and powerful charging is what makes it so great.

So let’s see if that power and compact size really mean anything.

Power

Output Charging:

Aukey Wall charger charging a Galaxy S6 and a RAVPower Luster Power Bank

Charging with this Aukey charger is what you should expect from most wall chargers these days. That means each of the ports on this charger has a charging speed of 5V/2.4A. The max output of this charger is 4.8A, so you can use the max power of each of the ports at the same time.

That said, something else to know that not many people know is that this charger does not feature Quick Charge and therefore it won’t charge Quick Charge compatible devices as the Samsung Galaxy S8 or any other of the many Quick Charge smartphones on the market.

This isn’t a negative aspect of the charger as many would think, we’re just saying that you shouldn’t purchase this charger expecting to charge Quick Charge compatible smartphones at their max charging speed.

However, the standard level of charging, at a 2.4A output is very helpful charging devices in general, and most smartphones will still charge quite quickly, and tablets too such as the Apple iPads. A 2.4A output is also perfect for recharging portable chargers as most power banks have 2.0A input recharge speeds.

Design

Size and Weight:

This is one of the smallest wall chargers on the market and when you combine the size and charging power of it, that’s the main reason that it receives such good reviews. We’ve gotta say, that we’re also one of those reviews, as this charger is indeed very small and easy to carry around and be portable with if you need to be.

It has a length/width of 1.4 inches, and the thickness of the charger is 1.2 inches. The weight of the charger is only 1.2 ounces. It’s with its very small size that using this wall charger on either an AC wall outlet or Surge Protector is not going to result in the other AC outlet getting coved. It’s a great thing because most wall chargers, even other 2-port wall chargers usually cover up surrounding AC Outlets.

Functional Components:

Using this charger is very simple. Just plug the charger into either a Surge Protector or AC wall outlet and you’re ready to use the charging cable that you need to use. Once you have the wall charger plugged in, there’s a White LED light that comes on next to the USB ports that indicates that the charger is receiving power.

On the opposite side of where the USB Ports are, is where you’ll find the AC adapter that this charger uses and it makes traveling with the charger a lot more useful as there are no protrusions and the charger basically just becomes a cube.

Build

Structure and Material:

You would think that this extremely small sized wall charger would have structure problems but it surprisingly doesn’t. In fact, this charger has a near uni-body construction and that means that there are barely any pieces of this charger that are going to fall apart.

Tech:

On the tech side, this charger also performs well, as there’s no overheating even when you’re using both of the ports at the same time.

Reliability

It’s one of the most reliable standard wall chargers that you can get on the market, but it’s not so reliable if you want to charge a Quick Charge compatible device at its max charging speed. If that’s the case, then simply purchase Aukey’s wall charger that does feature Quick Charge, as this charger doesn’t have it.

Summary:

Power:

Charging power is good as it offers optimal standard charging with a charging rate of 2.4A and you can use both of the ports at their max power at the same time.

Design:

This is one of the smallest 2-port wall chargers on the market, and it won’t cover surrounding AC outlets whether you’re using it with an AC wall outlet or a Surge Protector.

Build:

The build quality is very good, with the entire charger being nearly a single construction.

Reliability:

It’s a great charger to use for standard devices, but since it doesn’t feature Quick Charge and if you have a Quick Charge smartphone then it’s best to look elsewhere for that tech.
