Car charging is one of the most useful types of ways to charge our portable devices, even though it may not seem like it. As many people commute with a car, and since your commute can be rather long, charging your smartphone while you’re driving is the best time to do it. However, for certain smartphones car charging is a lot more helpful than others.

The main reason for that is because some smartphones are compatible with fast charging tech. So it doesn’t really matter if you have a short or long commute, charging a Quick Charge compatible smartphone with a Quick Charge car charger is going to prove to be a lot faster than just a regular device.

That’s why we’re reviewing this Aukey two-port car charger with two Quick Charge ports. There aren’t very many car chargers that use two Quick Charge ports, so let’s see if this car charger is worth it.

So, this Aukey car charger is mainly meant for charging Quick Charge compatible smartphones. As there are indeed two Quick Charge ports on this car charger, so you can actually charge two Quick Charge compatible smartphone at their max charging speed. At the same time. Such as a Galaxy S8 and an LG G6 can be charge at their max power at once.

On the other hand, you can still charge two Non-Compatible Quick Charge smartphones and tablets with that charger and the ports will output a 5V/2.4A charging speed. A 5V/2.4A charging speed is still quite fast in terms of standard charging.

Fast charging a Galaxy S8 and an S6 at the same time.

As a result, if you own Quick Charge compatible smartphone, getting this car charger is a great option. While at the same time, even if you don’t have a Quick Charge smartphone, you’re still able to charge your smartphone or other USB chargeable devices quite quickly. Perhaps a passenger in your car might own a Quick Charge compatible smartphone, and therefore they would be able to charge their smartphone at their max charging speed.

Of course, the best combination would be if you charge your Quick Charge compatible smartphone and a passenger also charged their Quick Charge smartphone at the same time, as both of the ports are able to output Quick Charge charging speeds.

The best part is that you can use the max power of both ports because the max output of this car charger is 36W, and each port is able to output 18W.

Design

Size and Weight:

Most car chargers in general, are small. This Aukey car charger with its use of two Quick Charge ports, is still small. As it has a length of 2.3 inches, and a thickness/width of 1.2 inches. The weight of the charger is 0.8 Ounces. So it’s a small car charger that has a low profile, and even though it can’t really beat Aukey’s Flush Fit car charger in terms of being very small, it’s still out of the way.

Functional Components:

Both of the ports on this car charger are a bright orange color to signify that they use Quick Charge. However, the car charger does not use a LED light to show that it’s on and ready to use, as most car chargers have. That said, some might find that to be a good thing as most car chargers can have a very bright power light that causes some disturbance.

Build

Structure and Material:

The structural build of this car charger is very good and it’s what you can expect from most of Aukey’s products, with there being no loose parts even when placing the car charger and taking it out of the 12Volt outlet multiple times.

Tech:

On the charging usage side, this car charger does tend to get quite warm if you’re charging two Quick Charge compatible devices at the same time. It makes sense that it does get warm as 36W is quite a bit of power. We recommend charging two Quick Charge compatible smartphone at the same time for a short duration.

Reliability

This car charger is very reliable not only for Quick Charge smartphones but also for non-Quick Charge smartphones because the port will still able to output 5V/2.4A. Of course, the real icing on the cake is the fact that you’re able to charge two Quick Charge compatible devices at their max charging speed at the same time.

Summary:

Power:

Charging power is the reason that you’re getting this car charger as it has two Quick Charge ports that can be used at their max power at once.
