There are many Power Delivery compatible devices on the market. If you have an Android smartphone that uses a USB-C port to charge from or an iPhone X model or a newer one to the iPhone 11 Pro Max; then you probably have a phone that is Power Delivery compatible.

It doesn’t stop there, Power Delivery is now heavily used with laptops, with the Apple MacBook being the most common to use the charging tech. However, many other laptops have adopted the USB-C port for charging such as Microsoft for their newer Surface devices, many Chromebooks are Power Delivery compatible, you have the LG Gram that is chargeable through the USB-C port, and a bunch of other laptops, too.

When it comes to charging Power Delivery devices you want a charger that has quite a bit of power to be able to charge your laptop and your smartphone. That’s what this Aukey Omnia Mix 65W Dual port wall charger is likely able to do for you.

Power

Output Charging:

The main thing to focus on with this charger is power. There are two ports, one is the USB-C Power Delivery port and the other is a standard USB-A port.

This Aukey Omnia wall charger has what is called Dynamic charging, meaning that the charging speed for the ports can change depending on how many devices you have charged. In this case, it’s the USB-C PD port that has the changing charging speed.

So, if you’re only charging from the USB-C port, the charging output will be 65W, or at least that’s the potential output that you’re able to get. This is a ton of power that can be useful for charging PD compatible laptops like an Apple MacBook it comes very close to being able to charge it at max speed.

Also, as we mentioned in the intro of this review, there are plenty of other PD laptops out there. Some of the newer ones are Surface Pro X, Surface Laptop 3 and the Surface Pro 7 from Microsoft. You’ve also got the 2020 LG Gram that can be charged through its USB-C port, even though the charger still comes with a charging brick to be charged through a DC port.

Overall, with a  65W output, it covers a wide blanket of devices that you’re able to charge with it.

You can also charge smartphones with the USB-C PD port, and it does matter that it’s able to output 65W because most phones will simply charge at 18W with a PD port.

So, the Dynamic part of this charger comes when you’re charging two devices at once. If you’re charging a device from the USB-C PD port and the USB-A port at the same time, the PD port outputs a 45W charging speed.

So you do get a lower charging speed when charging two devices, and the output of the USB-A port is 12W and does not feature Quick Charge.

Design

Size and Weight:

Another factor that makes this Aukey wall charger worth getting is its form factor. This charger is super small for the power it’s able to output.

It has a length/width of 2 inches and a thickness of 1.1 inches. The weight of the charger is 3.6 Ounces. So the charger is just a square, and so small that you can place it into a pocket. What you have is a charging brick that is smaller than a credit card.

The insanely small size of this wall charger can be thanked by the use of GaN tech. It’s a chip inside the charger that can replace many parts and still have the charger output a high amount of power.

Functional Components:

Using this wall charger is easy, you just take out the AC adapter and plug it into an AC outlet.

When the charger is plugged in there’s a White power light above the charging ports. The two ports are colored Orange.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this wall charger is one of the best that you’ll find in the consumer charging electronics space. The brand, Aukey, has been around for quite a while, and if you’ve heard about Anker, then Aukey is on par when it comes to the quality of their products.

This wall charger has everything together, and the retractable AC adapter confidently snaps in and out.

Tech:

Since this wall charger can output lots of power and still maintain a small form factor, you might think that it overheats, but it doesn’t. The charger manages heat very and the GaN tech helps with that.

Reliability

This Aukey wall charger is going to be very reliable for those that have a USB-C PD laptop. As 65W of PD power covers quite a lot of laptops that can charge using the tech. Even when charging two devices and having a 45W output, that’s still a lot of power.

We only wish that the USB-A port would be using Quick Charge, so those that have Android smartphones would be able to fast charge their phones while also charging their laptop.

Summary:

Power:

Charging power is not lacking, especially if you’re only using the USB-C port, because you’re able to get 65W from it. Charging two devices does lower the PD port to 45W, and the USB-A port only has a 12W output.

Design:

It’s a small wall charger that can have such a small size because of its use of GaN tech.

Build:

The build quality is one of the best in the business, and that’s what you can expect from Aukey.

Reliability:

It’s a reliable wall charger and with the power output changing, you can make it more reliable if you’re only charging a single device at a time.
