Many Power Delivery power banks on the market either have an 18W or 30W Power Delivery charging speed. 18W is great for fast charging smartphones, but not so helpful for charging laptops. 30W of PD charging is more able to charge USB-C laptops and smartphones, too.

However, 30W is usually not enough charging power for max charging most USB-C laptops on the market, and that is why this Aukey PB-Y24 26,800mAh 65W Power Delivery power bank can prove to be the most useful PD power bank that you can ever own.

Power

Power Capacity:

There is a lot of power to use from this Aukey power bank, as it has a 26,800mAh power capacity. This much capacity is perfect for charging smartphones to full power about four to five times. However, it depends on what smartphone you own.

If we’re taking a look at the latest Samsung Galaxy S20 that has a 4,000mAh battery, then you expect to get about five full charges for the base S20. When it comes to charging the Galaxy S20+ with its 4,500mAh battery or the S20 Ultra that has an even larger 5,000mAh battery, you can expect to get about four full charges for those higher-end ones.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max, which currently has the largest battery size for the iPhone lineup with its 3,969mAh battery, you can expect to get four full charges from this Aukey power bank.

Smartphones have much larger batteries, you can no longer expect to get six or seven full charges unless you have an older phone from two or three years ago. That said, a 26,800mAh power capacity is still quite a lot, and is also helpful for charging laptops and tablets to full power many times over.

Since this power bank does have a 65W Power Delivery port, you are likely going to be using it to charge laptops.

For example, the 2018 MacBook Pro 15” laptop has a 7,224mAh battery, meaning you’re able to charge it to full power about two or three times depending on how you’re using the MacBook.

We tested charging a Microsoft Surface Go, which has a super small battery of 3,411mAh, smaller than what most smartphones have. We were able to charge the Surface Go to full power about six times before fully depleting the power bank. The Surface Go may have a small battery but it uses more power because of its larger screen and some of our full charge testings were conducted while using the Surface Go.

Output Charging:

The three ports that you can use with this power bank all feature fast charging. There are two USB-C Power Delivery ports, and there is a single USB-A Quick Charge port.

The Quick Charge port is going to be most helpful for fast charging Andriod smartphones that are compatible with Quick Charge. The Quick Charge port can also be used for charging Non-Quick Charge compatible smartphones, but they will only get a 12W charging speed.

Charging speed from the 18W USB-C PD port for the Surface Go

One of the USB-C PD port that is labeled as “Output” only has an 18W charging speed, and is most helpful for charging USB-C Android smartphones, iPhones and only some laptops, but this isn’t the PD port that you’re going to want to use to charge your laptop with.

Also, yes, you can charge an iPhone with a USB-C PD port, that’s only if you have an iPhone X or iPhone 8 to the latest iPhone. Also, you have to use a Lighting to USB-C cable to charge it with a USB-C port.

Instead, the Power Delivery port that has the “Output/Input” label is what you should be using to charge your laptop because it has a 65W power output. 65W of Power Delivery charging is not very common with power banks, but with 65W of PD charging you’re able to charge many USB-C laptops out there at or near their max charging speed. This is especially true for MacBooks, Chromebooks and some other laptops such as Microsoft Surface laptops and LG laptops, too.

Input Charging:

You can only recharge this power bank from the USB-C port that has an “Input” label and there are three standard recharging speeds. You can opt to charge it at either 12W, 18W or 45W. We recommend that you use a 45W Power Delivery wall charger to recharge this power bank with as it’s able to recharge the fastest that way.

In this case, recharging speed does matter as the power bank has a 26,800mAh power capacity.

Design

Size and Weight:

A few years back, a 26,800mAh power bank would not be considered too portable, and you likely would not have been able to fit it into your pocket.

This Aukey 65W PD power bank can fit in your pocket. Sure, the charger is not as small or lightweight as a 10,000mAh power bank, but it’s still small with its high power capacity.

About the same length as most smartphones.

The charger has a length of 6.4 inches, a width of 3.4 inches, and a thickness of 1.1 inches. The weight of the power bank is 1.3 pounds.

It is a pocketable power bank, but whether you want to place it in your pocket and go about your day is up to you. You’ll know it’s there, so we find that it’s best to just hold it in your hand or place it in a bag.

Functional Components:

There is nothing complicated about this power bank. All the ports are on the same side, there is a power button right next to the ports and there are four white power capacity indicators.

Charging automatically starts when you plug a device into charge.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this Aukey power bank is the same as other Aukey’s portable chargers. It’s made of plastic, so it’s not shockproof or waterproof. Most power banks aren’t. However, it’s built for everyday use and there aren’t any parts that are going to break apart.

Also, having the power bank being made out of plastic was a great design choice because it makes it more lightweight, rather than using Aluminum which would have made the power bank a lot heavier.

Tech:

Even with a Quick Charge port, and two USB-C Power Delivery ports, this power bank has a max output of 65W.  So if you’re charging three devices at once, it doesn’t overheat, but the 65W USB-C Power Delivery port may have a slower charging speed because you’re using other ports at the same time.

Reliability

This PB-Y24 Aukey power bank is an all-around great fast charging power bank. It uses Quick Charge and two USB-C Power Delivery ports. A 65W USB Power Delivery port is not common but can be very helpful for charging USB-C laptops at a faster charging speed when you’re on the move.

The power bank itself does not come with a PD wall charger to fast recharge it, but it does come with a USB-C to USB-C cable.

Summary:

Power:

The power bank features a high power capacity that can last a few days even if you’re using it heavily. Charging power is great with a 65W USB-C Power Delivery port.

Design:

Even with its 26,800mAh power capacity and higher PD power output, this power bank still manages to be able to fit into your pocket.

Build:

The charger does overheat even if you’re using all the ports at the same time, and it weighs lighter than you might think because it’s made of plastic.

Reliability:

A 26,800mAh power bank with a 65W Power Delivery charging speed is hard to find under $100, but Aukey has done it and they’ve done it well by adding on two PD ports and a Quick Charge port.
