Power Delivery chargers can be found basically anywhere as most people now own a portable device that can be charged via a PD charger. This is still true for iPhone users; a phone that doesn’t even have a USB-C port can be charged via a PD charger with a Lightning to USB-C cable. More importantly, Power Delivery charging is compatible with most modern laptops, making it the universal charging tech.

In this review, we’re taking a look at this Baseus 100W GaN2 Power Delivery wall charger. The charger can output 100W of charging power, uses a single port, and is a lot smaller than any charger that comes with a USB-C laptop thanks to it using GaN2, a new generation tech that enables chargers to be even smaller and still able to output lots of power.

Power

Output Charging:

The charging from the Baseus wall charger is straightforward but very powerful because the charger only has a single USB-C Power Delivery port. The best part is that the USB-C port can output 100W, which is currently the limit of Power Delivery; however, that limit of charging power will increase pretty soon as the USB-C standard is getting an upgrade.

That said, a 100W PD charging speed is the most that you’re able to get for now, and that is the main reason to consider getting this charger. You can charge most USB-C laptops at their max speed with this Baseus wall charger, and you can definitely charge Macbooks at their max charging speed.

Since it can charge laptops with barely any problems, this charger can also fast charge tablets and smartphones. Also, to clarify, this wall charger can still charge smartphones, and they will not get damaged. Charging speed is set to whatever device you’re charging. One of the best parts is that it features 45W Programmable Power Supply (PPS) charging; this means that you can fast charge the Samsung Galaxy S20 and S21 phones even faster than the standard 18W.

In our tests, we charged a Lenovo Flex 5 laptop with the Baseus wall charger, and it was able to charge the laptop at about 30W, which is basically the laptop’s max charging speed. We also charged a Samsung Galaxy Note 9, and it was also able to fast charge. The only real setback with this charger is that it features a single port, so you can only charge a single device at a time.

Design

Size and Weight:

Consider that this charger can output 100W; the size is tiny. It has a length of 4.5 inches, a width of 3.7 inches, and a thickness of 1 inch. Along with a foldable plug, this is a great travel charger if you’re someone that travels a lot with a laptop and needs a charger that can charge your laptop at its max charging speed. The biggest thanks to this small size are that this charger uses GaN2 tech, a newer generation of GaN that makes the charger smaller, making it capable of outputting lots of charging power and keeps it a bit cool.

Functional Components:

Using the charger is as easy as just unfolding the plug and plugging it into an AC outlet. Once plugged in and powered, there is a blue LED power light that turns on.

Build

Structure and Material:

The charger is built like a tank, and you don’t have to worry about it breaking apart. You should still be careful about dropping it, though as wall chargers, in general, don’t have a rugged build.

Tech:

With a charger capable of outputting 100W, this Baseus charger does get a little warm during charging. Brands may claim how GaN tech makes charging cool, but the heat will always be generated no matter what charger you’re using. The important thing is that it doesn’t get hot, and this one does not.

Reliability

The charger is very reliable if you don’t mind only one port being available to charge from, as the single port can output 100W, which can fast charge most laptops. Along with fast charging laptops, this charger also features PPS that can charge newer Samsung Galaxy phones at 45W, which more Samsung smartphone users are looking for.

Even with its high power output, the charger is tiny because its use of GaN tech that makes teh charger smaller; with such a small size and a foldable plug, we think it’s a great wall charger for travel and possibly the only charger you will need if you don’t mind only using a single port. Especially if you’re traveling with devices that are compatible to charge via USB-C.

The charger comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable included in the box.

Summary:

Power:

Charging power is not lacking with the single USB-C PD port outputting 100W and featuring 45W PPS Samsung fast charging.

Design:

It is very small for such a powerful charger, it can practically fit into a pocket, and it has a foldable plug that ensures even easier portability.

Build:

The charger has a strong build, and it runs a bit warm, but that is completely normal and even great when you consider that the charger can output 100W. Most chargers in the past that would output that much would get hot to the touch.

Reliability:

If you get past the wall charger only using a single port, then this is one of the most reliable Power Delivery wall chargers you can own with a 100W power output; you can charge most USB-C devices.

Conclusion:

This Baseus 100W GaN2 Power Delivery wall charger is a great product to own if you’re someone that relies heavily on USB-C charging. This is basically a must-own if you have a laptop that charges via USB-C, and the rest of your device will follow suit with charging from this wall charger, too, as USB-C is the future.
