At this point, if you’re searching for a power bank, you should consider getting one with a high Power Delivery charging speed. Most modern portable devices are compatible with USB-C PD charging, as your phone can likely fast charge with PD. If you have a newer laptop that can charge via USB-C, you can use a powerful enough PD power bank to charge your smartphone and laptop.

In this review, we’re looking at this Baseus 20,000mAh 65W Power Delivery power bank. The portable charger has a very high PD charge rate that you would expect to find on a wall charger, making it worth getting more than a 10,000mAh power bank.

Power

Power Capacity:

The power capacity of this Baseus power bank is nothing unusual, with it having a 20,000mAh power capacity. With this much power, you’ll do well with charging most smartphones to full power about two or three times. That said, with many phones now having large batteries, such as the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra having a 5,000mAh battery size, you may only get two full charges. That’s because, with fast charging, more power is lost during charging; combined with the large battery sizes of modern phones, less power capacity will be put to use.

When it comes to charging laptops such as UBS-C Macbook Pro, Macbook Air, Chromebooks, and in our case, a Lenovo Flex 5 laptop, then you’re going to be fair about a single full charge for a laptop with this Baseus power bank. You will have leftover power capacity to use later, but it’s not enough for another full recharge.

Output Charging:

The charging from this Baseus power bank is the best part, as the USB-C Power Delivery port can output 65W if you’re charging only a single device. In our case, we charged a Lenovo Flex 5 laptop with a 65W USB-C charging brick.

This Baseus power bank could charge the Flex 5 laptop at its max charging speed of about 30W, which stayed constant until the laptop was closer to its full power; then, charging went a little slower, which is normal for all devices.

We could still charge our Flex 5 laptop even when charging two devices. In addition to the USB-C Power Delivery port, the power bank has two USB-A Quick Charge 3.0 ports. When charging a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and the Lenovo Flex 5 laptop simultaneously, the USB-C PD port has a 45W power output, and the USB-A port has an 18W output. In this case, the Flex 5 laptop lowered its charging speed slightly to 25W, and the Note 9 could fast charge.

Charging from all three ports is when they lose their fast charging capabilities as they all share a 30W power output.

Overall, the charging power from the USB-C Power Delivery is the best reason to get this power bank, as a 65W Power Delivery charging speed can charge most USB-C laptops. Maybe not at their max charging speed, but it is faster than the usual 30W that most PD power banks feature.

Input Charging:

You can use the USB-C PD port or the Micro-USB input port to recharge the power bank. We recommend using the PD port to recharge this power bank because you can recharge the power bank at 60W with a 60W or higher Power Delivery wall charger.

Design

Size and Weight:

The charger is small enough to be taken anywhere, with a length of 6 inches, a width of 2.5 inches, and a thickness of 1 inch. It does have a bit of weight to it, with it weighing 1 pound. We still think it’s worth it because this power bank can charge your USB-C laptop and smartphone simultaneously, no matter where you are.

Functional Components:

The charger automatically starts when you plug a device into the power bank.

There is a power button on the charger’s side to restart charging if it has stopped, and you can use the power button to see the power capacity via the LCD at the top of the power bank.

Build

Structure and Material:

The power bank has an Aluminum build that feels premium and gives the power bank a more solid build.

Tech:

The charger does get a little warm during charging, especially if you’re using the full 65W to charge a laptop via the Power Delivery port. Other than that, we didn’t notice any unusual things with this power bank.

Reliability

This Baseus 20,000mAh power bank 65W Power Delivery power bank is one of the best PD portable chargers you can get on the market that still has a small form factor and is lightweight. A 65W Power Delivery charging speed can charge most laptops at their max charging speed or at a fast enough speed; combined with the ability to charge your laptop and smartphones anywhere, the power is highly reliable.

Even if you’re charging two devices simultaneously, the Power Delivery port has a 45W power output, still higher than the common 30W that most PD power banks tend to have.

The power bank comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable to start using it right out of the box.

Summary:

Power:

Charging power is great with dynamic charging from the Power Delivery port. You can use 65W of Power Delivery when charging from the USB-C PD port alone or 45W when charging two devices. You can recharge the power bank at 60W with a powerful enough PD wall charger.

Design:

The charger is not too large and easy to take anywhere. An LCD showing the remaining power capacity is at the top of the power bank. There is a power button, but charging starts automatically when you plug a device in.

Build:

The charger has a strong build with it being made of Aluminum, and it does get a little warm, which is to be expected with a power bank that can output either 65W or 45W from its USB-C Power Delivery port.

Reliability:

The power bank can charge most laptops either when you’re charging from it alone or even if you’re charging from two devices simultaneously. Included in the box is a USB-C to USB-C cable.
