Power Delivery has changed charging for the better, and this is the case for most portable devices as most portable devices are now using USB-C ports to be recharged from. Along with USB-C, you get Power Delivery fast charging that offers higher charging power well beyond what regular USB-A ports can output and what standard USB-C ports can deliver. As a result, we now have tablets, laptops, smartphones, and many other devices that use USB-C ports; this results in you being able to use a single charger to charge up all, if not most, of your portable devices.

In this review, we’re taking a look at this CHOETECH 100W GaN Dual USB-C Power Delivery wall charger; the model is PD6008. The charger can output tons of charging power, and it may very well be your best go-to universal charger for all things USB-C.

Power

Output Charging:

This CHOETECH wall charger is not lacking with its charging power; that’s because the wall charger has a max output of 100W, basically Power Delivery’s power limit. If you’re using a single port, then that port can output 100W, which means that you can charge nearly all USB-C chargeable devices with this CHOETECH wall charger. Yes, you can still fast-charge smartphones with a 100W PD port as the charging speed adjusts to the device you’re charging, and you can charge most laptops at their max speed.

Charging speed for Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 Laptop

Charging two devices simultaneously results in each of the ports outputting 45W, a lower charging speed, but this still enables you to charge two USB-C laptops at the same time at a fast charge rate. In the past, this was not possible as older laptops would use a DC charging brick.

Charging speed for Surface Go Tablet PC

In our tests using this CHOETECH GaN wall charger, we charged a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 laptop and a Microsoft Surface Go at the same time. The Lenovo laptop was able to charge at around 30W, while the Surface Go was charging at 20W. Basically, both devices were able to charge at their max speed simultaneously.

Design

Size and Weight:

The size of this CHOETECH wall charger is the second best part, other than its charging power because, despite its charging power, it has a length of 2.7 inches, a width of 2.5 inches, and a thickness of 1 inch. It’s like having two laptop chargers in one that you’re able to take anywhere easily; you can even place the charger into your pocket thanks to it using a foldable plug. The small size is all thanks to the CHOETECH wall charger using a GaN chip that makes it smaller and can still output lots of charging power.

Functional Components:

The charger is easy to use, just like any other one. Just plug it into an outlet, and you’re ready to use it. At the front, where the two USB-C PD ports are, there is also a Blue power light. The charger does not come with a cable.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality is great, and honestly, most wall chargers on the market have similar builds as it has become such a mass-produced product that has had its manufacturing process done very well.

Tech:

The charger does not get warm; another benefit of the wall charger using GaN as less heat is produced.

Reliability

When a Power Delivery charger has a higher power output, the more reliable it is because the charger can charge a wider range of devices. Some laptops require a 45W PD charger to actually charge, whereas a 30W PD output is not enough. This CHOETECH wall charger covers it all; you’re even able to get 45W from each port when charging two devices at the same time.

Considering the output of the charger, it’s also tiny.

Summary:

Power:

The main reason to get this CHOETECH wall charger is the charging power as it has a 100W power output when you are charging a single device or two USB-C ports outputting 45W when charging two devices.

Design:

The charger is small and portable thanks to its use of GaN, which enables the charger to be smaller and still able to output lots of charging power.

Build:

The charger does not get warm during charging, and that comes as a surprise because of its high power output. Even in our test with charging a Lenovo laptop and a Surface Go tablet PC, the charger didn’t warm up at all.

Reliability:

It’s a reliable wall charger for most USB-C chargeable devices simply because of its powerful 100W power output.
