Most modern laptops have one thing in common, and that would be that most of them use a USB-C port to charge from, or at least have a USB-C port for connectivity purposes. However, as useful as the USB-C port is, most brands, especially have Apple, have a habit of having very few ports and only have a few USB-C ports. This makes connectivity for certain things that you want to connect to your laptop near impossible without a USB-C hub adapter.

In this review, we’re taking a look at this 11 in 1 USB-C hub adapter docking station. This may be one of the best ways to enhance your experience with your USB-C laptop because it allows you to connect various devices to your laptop that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to.

Ports and Features

As we mentioned, this CHOETECH USB hub adapter has eleven ways to use it, so let’s see what each of them has to offer.

USB-C Power Delivery Port:

Of course, one of the most important factors for a USB-C hub is to have a Power Delivery port; this way, you can still charge your laptop while using the hub and having other devices connected. The USB-C Power Delivery port on this adapter can accept 100W of charging power, which is basically the limit of what Power Delivery is capable of.

As a result, no matter what laptop you’re using with this UBS-C hub, using your charger via the USB-C PD port on this adapter will charge your laptop, and you can charge it at max speed without any hiccups.

VGA Port:

Next to the Power Delivery port is a VGA port that you can use to connect your laptop to a second screen, and even though this port isn’t the most modern solution, it’s definitely nice to have in case you need it. The VGA port is capable of an output display of 1080@60Hz, so you won’t be able to transfer higher resolution if your laptop is on the higher-end.

HDMI Port:

There may be a VGA port on this USB-C hub, but there is a modern solution with an HDMI port. The HDMI port can output a 4K@30Hz, which may be more on par with what most users are looking for when using a second display. Also, when it comes to using the VGA port and the HDMI port simultaneously, their output becomes 1080p@60Hz.

Three USB 3.0 Ports:

One of the best parts of USB-C hubs is their USB 3.0 ports because these are the most commonly used ports, as most people still use devices that are compatible with the port. The USB 3.0 ports on this adapter can transfer speeds up to 5Gbps, so you’re getting the best you can from a USB-A port. With these ports, you’re able to connect a mouse, keyboards, flash drives, and various other devices that use a standard USB-A connection to connect to devices. The use of three of these ports really smooths out your experience with your laptop.

USB-C Data Port:

To add to the USB 3.0 ports, a single USB-C data port is capable of transferring the same 5Gbps speed. Of course, when it comes to using this port, you’re going to be a bit limited because you can mainly only use USB-C devices via a USB-C to USB-C connection or a USB-C to Lightning connection if you’re connecting to an iPhone. That said, it’s a useful port with so many portable devices now using a USB-C port.

Standard SD Card Reader and a Mico SD Card Reader:

There are two SD card readers on the hub, with one being a standard size and the other is a Micro size. These are great for photographers who can easily access their photos via the hub and any other file needs.

Ethernet Port:

If you do have access to a direct connection ethernet cable, then the Ethernet port on this CHOETECH USB-C hub may be the best usage that you get. We’re joking, but a direct ethernet connection is a lot faster than a Wi-Fi connection, and if you want blazing fast internet speeds while using this hub adapter, you can get it. We tested it with an ethernet cable capable of 1Gbps speeds, and the ethernet port worked flawlessly. The ethernet port is capable of a 1000Mbps (1Gbps) connection.

3.5mm Headphone Audio Jack:

Lastly, there is a headphone jack that you can use with quite a few audio accessories such as headphones, speakers, and basically anything else that you want to use with the headphone jack.

Design

Size and Weight:

This CHOETECH hub is not exactly large, but it is long with a length of 10 inches, but at the same time, it’s very slim. You will have to have some space to use it, especially if you’re connecting multiple devices simultaneously to the hub, as things can get cluttered.

Functional Components:

Using the hub is simple as plugging the built-in USB-C into the USB-C port on your laptop. Once connected, the USB-C adapter has a LED power light that shows it’s ready to use. There is no software that you have to install to use this USB-C hub, you only have to plug it in, and you’re ready to use it.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this CHOETECH 11 in 1 hub is by far one of the best parts of it, other than the ports that you’re able to use on it. That’s because the adapter is made of Aluminum, and it definitely makes it look and feel premium. There are also rubber pads at the top and bottom of teh adapter to prevent it from moving around.

Tech:

The hub adapter may get warm if you’re using the USB-C Power Delivery port to charge your laptop, and that’s about it. We didn’t experience any heating up when the Power Delivery port was not in use.

Reliability

With the lack of certain ports on USB-C laptops, this CHOETECH 11 in 1 hub is literally meant to be reliable with several features. It lets you access things that you otherwise would not have access to directly on your laptop. So, yes, this is a very reliable piece of hardware that we recommend to anyone that needs to have the ability to connect a range of devices to their otherwise modern but limited laptop that chooses design over function. Unfortunately.

Summary:

Port and Features:

There are a total of eleven days to use this hub, and that’s basically eleven more ways to conveniently have access to certain functions that you can’t have directly from your laptop.

Design:

The USB-C hub is long, but it is slim. It only requires that you plug it into your USB-C on your laptop, and you’re ready to use it.

Build:

The build quality is incredible because it has an Aluminum Alloy build and rubber pads that prevent the hub from sliding around.

Reliability:

The reliability of this CHOETECH hub is the product itself. The hub makes using your laptop more reliable because it lets you gain more features from its ports.

Conclusion:

If you find that you can’t connect various devices to a Macbook or any other laptop that has a few USB-C ports and few of any other ports or connections, then this CHOETECH 11 in 1 USB-C adapter is likely your solution.
