Most of the time when people think of power banks, they have a portable charger with USB charging ports in mind to charge their smartphones and tablets. However, that’s mostly the case when power banks first came out and now we’re at a point when portable chargers can do more than just charge a USB chargeable device, as there are many of them on the market that actually use DC Ports and some of them even use AC Outlets.

This DBPower 26,400mAh power bank, in particular, uses an AC Outlet and at the same time uses two USB charging ports for your small portable devices. Along with its high power capacity and powering options, this portable charger seems to be an all-around champ. Let’s take a closer look if you should consider purchasing this power bank that goes the extra mile.

Power

Power Capacity:

There’s a lot of power to be used with this DBPower portable charger, just as there should be. Since this power bank has an AC Outlet and at the same uses two USB ports. Even after the conversion during charging, this power capacity still holds up quite well.

3.7 x 26,400 = 97,680 / 5 = 19,536

So you’re actually able to use about 19,500mAh of power capacity to actually charge your devices and power your appliances. This is still a lot of power that you’re going to be able to charge your devices with. For example, this DBPower portable charger is able to charge small devices such as smartphones to their full power about 6 times or more.

Charging larger devices such as tablets with this power bank holds no problems either, most tablets such as Apple’s iPads or Samsung’s Galaxy Tab tablets have battery capacities of 6,000mAh. As a result, this power bank can charge them to full power about three times if you’re solely focusing the power capacity to charge a tablet only.

Then there’s the power capacity in terms of supplying power to an appliance. Well, when it comes to measuring power capacity in terms of an AC Outlet powering an appliance then you really can’t do the measurement by the Mili Amp Hours. Instead, you have to use the Wattage power amount that AC Outlet is able to output and in this case, it would be 80W. With 80Watts of power, you’re able to power appliances within the same power range for an hour.

So if you’re powering a small fan that requires 80W of power then the power bank will be able to supply about an hour worth of power to it.

Output Charging:

There are two mains ways to use this power bank and we find that to be somewhat of a relief. The main reason for that is because lots of high capacity portable chargers that use an AC Outlet also have USB ports, but then they also have a few other things to go along with that too such as DC Output ports. This power bank does have a DC port but it’s used as an input to recharge the power bank.

So it’s quite simple here with just two USB charging ports each of charging ports is able to output a charging speed of 5V/2.2A. The max output of the USB port side of this charger is 4.2A and therefore you can use both of the USB ports near their max power at the same time. A charging speed of 2.2A for each of your devices is quite good and it’s enough to charge most standard devices such as smartphones and tablets at their max power.

However, neither of the two USB ports feature Quick Charge and therefore you won’t be able to charge your Quick Charge compatible devices at their max charging speed.

AC Outlet

As we mentioned within the “Power” section of this review, this Wattage output of the AC outlet is actually quite limited. We’re not saying that it’s a bad thing, as this is quite a small power bank and it’s exactly a large portable power station such as the Anker PowerHouse or the Goal Zero Yeti. So it’s supply of 80W of power for your appliances is quite a good amount that can power small appliances only.

These appliances may include lamps, small fridges, fans and of course since you’re at Charger Harbor, the AC Outlet can be very useful for using with USB wall chargers. The use of a USB wall charger can be useful if you want to use a USB-C wall charger to charge your USB-C compatible devices.

Input Charging:

This DBPower portable charger is recharged through a DC input port and it has a recharge rate of 16.8V/2.0A. We’re excited to see such a smart decision is made with the recharging speed with this power bank as it can recharge to its full power within just 2 hours. When you consider that this power bank has a 26,400mAh power capacity, that is a very fast recharge rate.

With its high power capacity and use of an AC Outlet, we’re not gonna lie, this power bank is quite large and also heavy.

It has a length of 7.2 inches, a width of 4.8 inches, and a thickness of 1.6 inches. The weight of this power bank is 2.3 pounds. So it’s the type of portable charger that you plan on taking to a location and using it there. You won’t be too comfortable holding this and charging your smartphone at the same time.

Functional Components:

Nearly all of the functional components of this power bank are on a single side.

Structure and Material:

Even though this is a large power bank and larger portable chargers tend to have weaker build qualities, this one does a better job than most others. The entire power bank is made of plastic but all of its pieces are well put together.

This charger isn’t shockproof so you shouldn’t be dropping it too much or be dropping it from great heights but it’s perfect for daily use and can take some bumps and light falls.

Tech:

Since this power bank features an AC Outlet, you’re probably concerned with overheating issues. Well, rest assured, this power bank only tends to get a little warm. Other than that, if this power bank does exceed its output powering capabilities then it will automatically shut-off.

Reliability

This is a power bank that’s more reliable than just your regular portable charger, that said, it’s not for everyone. Sure, it’s reliable in the way that it has a very high power capacity that can charge devices multiple times to their full power. It uses an AC Outlet that can power appliances within its powering range and it also has two USB ports.

With all that said, what matters most is if it matters to you. Those that are looking for portable chargers with AC Outlets want more power output and this simply offers 80W. But then again, it has a smaller size and a lighter weight than most other portable chargers that also use AC Outlets.

There are a few trade-offs that can make reliability waver in some areas and skyrocket in other areas.
