Power Delivery is compatible to use with the new standard of charging, which is USB-C. The reason that USB-C is becoming the new standard for charging when it comes to a lot of portable devices is that it’s able to offer faster charging. One of the most notable devices that use the USB-C standard is now Android smartphones.

With the rise of Power Delivery, there are now, even more, larger devices that use USB-C to charge such as tablets and laptops. The difference when it comes to charging larger devices that also use USB-C Power Delivery charging is that they usually require higher Wattage amounts from the charger. Of course, there are smartphones and a laptop like the USB-C compatible MacBook that re able to have their max charging speed when using a 30W USB-C Power Delivery wall charger.

That said, there are still a lot of laptops that use Power Delivery and require more than just 30W of charging power that most wall chargers are able to offer. That’s why we’re reviewing this DBPower 60W USB-C Power Delivery wall charger.

Power

Output Charging:

You can use a USB-C to Lightning Charging cable to charge the iPhone X or iPhone 8 at Power Delivery Speeds.

Most of the time with USB-C Power Delivery wall chargers form third parties, they usually have an output of 30W. That’s a good amount of charging power but there are certain Power Delivery compatible laptops that require a lot more power. Without having more charging power, those types of devices are not able to charge at all. Take, for example, the Razer Stealth gaming laptop or the Dell XPS 13 laptop. Both of those laptops require that you use a 45W Power Delivery charger with them, as using anything lower will not be enough power.

Or the Dell XPS 15 laptop that requires that you use a 60W Power Delivery charger.

That’s why using this DBPower USB-C wall charger is so useful as it’s able to output 60W of charging power and to break that into Amperage and Voltage levels:

5V/3A | 9V/3A | 12V/3A | 15V/3A | 18V/3A | 20V/3A

So this charger basically covers all PD compatible devices that are under the 60W umbrella and below.

Another thing that this charger is capable of is that it’s able to output Quick Charge speed. So you can also charge Quick Charge compatible smartphones at their max charging speeds, even if they’re not Power Delivery compatible.

Design

Size and Weight:

The benefit of a wall charger using a single USB-C port or really any single port for that matter is that they’re very small. The use of no other ports does make the charger rather barren and it’s purpose very clear, but at the same time, this charger is also very small and lightweight which makes it very easy to take anywhere that you want.

As it has a length/width of 2.7 inches, and the thickness of the charger is 1.1 inches. The weight of the charger is actually quite heavy for a 1-port wall charger at 8.8 Ounces.

Functional Components:

Using the charger is very simple, as it makes use of a built-in AC adapter that’s retractable. Once you plug the charger into an AC outlet, you’re ready to use it. The one thing that we found that was missing that this charger does not have a LED light at the front to show that it’s on and ready to use.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this charger is very good, it’s all made of plastic but even so, the charger has a great feel to it and the AC adapter holds solid when you take it out and retract it back into the charger.

Tech:

If you’re using the max 60W of charging power with this wall charger for a long duration of time, then the charger will get warm. However, it does cool down once the device that you’re charging is near or at its max power. As that’s the case with all charges actually.

Reliability

If you’re searching for a USB-C Power Delivery wall charger that’s able to cover a wide variety of Power Delivery compatible devices, then this DBPower wall charger can be very reliable. As it’s able to provide basically double the amount of power than the average 30W of charging power. This way, you can charge larger and more powerful laptops that require the 60W power that this charger features.

However, one part of this charger that isn’t so reliable is that it features only a single port, so you can’t charge another device at the same time that you’re charging a Power Delivery compatible device.

Summary:

Power:

There’s no shortage of power when it comes to Power Delivery charging when it comes to this charger has there’s a 60W output.

Design:

The great part about using a single port is that this charger is very small and uses a built-in retractable AC adapter.

Build:

The charger does tend to get warm if you’re charging at 60W for a long duration of time.

Reliability:

It’s a very well-built wall charger if you’re someone that relies on USB-C power Delivery with their devices and actually needs a 60W charging output for your laptop that uses Power Delivery.

Specs of the DBPOWER 60W USB-C Power Delivery Wall Charger:

  • Output:

USB-C Port: 5V/3A | 9V/3A | 12V/3A | 15V/3A | 18V/3A | 20V 3A (60W)

  • Input: 100V-240V/AC
  • LED Power Indicator: None
  • Size: 2.7 x 2.7 x 1.1 inches
  • Weight: 8.8 Ounces

Conclusion:

This charger has a single port, at the same time, using a single port, in this case, is just fine because it has a 60W charging speed that can output enough charging power for most Power Delivery compatible devices to charge at their max charging speed.
