We’re at a point where power banks are being able to provide more than just power to our devices like smartphones and tablets. They’re also able to provide power to our vehicles!

That’s right. Power banks can also double as portable Car Jumpstarters and this is absolutely amazing because not only can you have a reliable power source for your smartphone while you’re on the go, but also, you can jump-start your car in case of an emergency. This is truly a great time to be alive.

Of course, different power banks are built to different standards. This DB portable Car jump starter is able to Output 300A Peak Current of power to jump-start a certain prowess of vehicles. Let’s take a look at what it has to offer.

Power

Power Capacity:

Jump Starter portable chargers are able to hold a variety of power capacity, and just like charging the device, the more power capacity that it has the more jumps you’ll be able to do. With that said, this DB power bank has a power capacity of 8,000mAh and for its size, we’re surprised that it uses Lithium Polymer batteries since the size of it says otherwise.

With that said, if you’re mostly using the power bank for the sole purpose of charging devices most of the time, then you’ll average at about 7,000mAh of Output power capacity.

This Output power capacity can mostly attribute to the use of a single Output charging port. Overall, the power capacity is really meant for charging smartphones because you’ll be able to charge your smartphone numerous times over before having to recharge the power bank.

Charging larger sized devices like tablets will have this portable charger fair about 80% of a full charge for Mini sized tablets and about 50% for full-sized tablets.

Power Capacity for Cars:

Since this portable charger doubles as a Car Jumper as well, it also has a certain limit on a number of times it can jump a vehicle.

The first thing to remember is that this Portable Car Jumper is mostly compatible with vehicles that have a 2.5L Gas Engine or under. So if you’re jumping those kinds of vehicles, then it’ll be able to jump them about 20 Times on just a single charge.

With that said, you’re able to get to the 20 mark jumps only if you’re using the portable charger with its full power capacity.

Overall, it’s quite compatible with lots of cars and most likely compatible with the vehicles you own. Just check before purchasing, though.

Output Charging:

Since it only has a single Output charging port there’s not much to say about the charging power. The USB charging port is able to Output 5V/2.1A charging speed and to be honest, we’re surprised for quite a fast charging speed with a Portable Car Jumper.

It’s a fast enough charging speed that’ll be able to charge most smartphones at their max charging speeds, it’ll even accommodate tablets quite well since the charging speed is just shy of a tablet’s Max charging speed of 5V/2.4A.

Vehicle Charging:

The current is 300A when you’re jumping your car and that’s why it’s best to purchase this power bank if your vehicle has a 2.5L Gas Engine since it’ll be able to jump those vehicles easily.

Input Charging:

It has a slow recharge speed of 5V/1.0A and if you’re using a 1 Amp wall charger or higher, then that will result in the power bank being able to fully recharge within 7 hours.

Design

Size and Weight:

It’s quite small and we’re surprised for a device that is able to jump start cars, it can fit into the palm of your hand or inside your pocket quite easily.

This is because the DB power bank Jump Starter has a length of 5.1 inches, a width of 3 inches and a thickness of 0.8 inches.

Okay, so even though we did mention that it’s small, it’s also important to know that something that can Jump Start your vehicle will also be heavy.

The power bank weighs 1.2 pounds, so even though it can fit into your hands, it won’t be too comfortable for long. As a result, even though this power bank can charge your smartphone, you’re simply going to want to take it with you on drives most of the time.

Functional Components:

All of the functional parts are quite close together and are all basically on the same side.

On the short side is where you’ll find the 2 Jumping ports that are covered by a flap, the USB Output port, Micro-USB Input port, and a LED flashlight.

There are 4 power capacity indicators on top of the power bank that have the percentage next to them, to indicate just how much each power capacity light indicates, there’s also a power button on top.

The power button is what you’ll be using to Jump Start a car and to control the flashlight. The flashlight has 3 main settings: Just plain on, Strobe and SOS.

Build

Structure and Material:

It’s a structurally sound power bank even though it’s made of plastic. It has 2 main pieces that make it whole with just a bottom and top piece. It’s best not to drop a portable charger like this because you won’t want to damage any inside circuitry that could prove harmful when you’re Jump Starting your vehicle.

Tech:

This is where things can fall apart. Since the Portable Car Jumper uses Lithium Polymer batteries and is used to Jump Start cars, which causes it to use a LOT of power, the Polymer batteries can actually expand.

However, this isn’t something that will happen, it’s something that can happen. With that said, if the Polymer batteries do expand, this can result in it the power bank’s body structure to come apart and render the portable charger useless.

With that said, the DBPower has a 3-Year Warranty for most of their product and if this happens to you, then simply get a replacement.

We realize that expanding batteries and a useless product is some serious stuff, but it’s important to remember that the power bank will not explode and there’s no reason to be scared, just a little worried.

Reliability

For the most part, if the DB portable charger is working how it’s supposed to, then it’s possibly the most reliable portable charger that you’ll ever own. This is basically true if you’re on the road and you can use this to Jump Start your car.

The ability to charge devices is basically a Plus and we find it to be more of an extra feature rather than an integral part of the power bank.

Beatit Tech 500A Portable Jump Starter

Summary

Power:

The power capacity is just enough to charge smartphones a few times over, and it’s great for Jumpstarting vehicles as it’ll be able to do 20 Jumps starting with a full charge. It can jump start cars that have a 2.5L Gas Engine or lower.

Design:

It’s small but the weight is really heavy at 1.2 pounds.

Build:

The structure build quality of the DBPower portable charger is strong enough. However, it does have a rare problem with the Lithium Polymer batteries expanding when you Jump a car continuously one after an another.

Reliability:

When it works like it’s supposed to, the DB power bank is a wondrous piece of power because it charges all of your normal devices like smartphones and tablets, as well as being able to jump-start your car plenty of times.

Conclusion

So it’s what we expected and what we didn’t expect at the same time.

The DBPower portable Car Jumper is perfect for jump-starting cars and charging your smartphones.

However, there are hangups with its build quality when you’re excessively using it because the Polymer batteries can end up expanding and make the power bank useless. With that said, we think that the 3-year warranty is really good at accommodating that.
