Charging is constantly changing, and that is a very good thing. That said, even when things change there will always be those that still own devices that use older methods of charging. It’s normal, as nobody is going to purchase the newest smartphone just to use the latest form of charging tech. With all that said, the latest form of charging tech that I’m talking about is USB Type-C, or also known as USB-C and Type-C.

Many newer Android smartphones have started to use the USB-C standard of connectivity for charging because it’s able to provide faster charging speeds and it’s reversible. Reversible, meaning that you can place it in on either of its sides and it’ll go inside the device. Even larger devices such as laptops are using USB-C for charging because the charging tech can provide up 100W of charging power. So I might be going on a tangent, so my point is that there’s quite a large transition to the USB-C standard and it’s good to have a part of the old tech with us.

That’s why we’re doing a review for this Dodocool 10,000mAh power bank which has built-in Micro-USB cable and it comes with a USB-C adapter. Let’s take a closer look.

Power

Power Capacity:

There’s a good amount of power capacity to be used with this power bank and its 10,000mAh. Of course, just like with all portable chargers, you’re not actually going to be able to use the entirety of the capacity due to the conversion of energy. So let’s calculate how much you’ll actually be able to get.

10,000 x 3.8 = 38,000 / 5 = 7,600

Overall, you’re likely going to be receiving an output capacity of 7,600mAh that you’re actually able to use. This is actually very good as many power banks within this same capacity range tend to have only half of their initial capacity to use. So with a 7,600mAh capacity, you’re able to charge most smartphones about two times to their full power. That’s mainly the purpose of this power bank, which would be to charge smartphones.

Charging larger devices such as tablets can be done with this charger, of course. That said, you’re likely going to have to use the entirety of the power capacity to charge you’re a tablet to its full power. Or you can use a part of the capacity to charge the tablet and save the rest for smaller devices such as your smartphone.

Output Charging:

Charging with this Dodocool portable charger is very versatile and helpful at the same time. There are two main methods of charging.

Charging an S8 with the USB-C Adapter

One way is to use built-in Micro-USB charging cable to charge compatible devices and then you can also connect the USB-C adapter to the Micro-USB port and charge USB-C compatible device.

The other charging method is by using the USB-A charging port and that can be found under the built-in charging cable.

The max output of this power bank is 3.1A and individual charging speed of for each of the ports is 5V2.1A. So if you want to take advantage of the fastest charging speed you should charge a single device at a time. Charging two devices at the same time will likely split the max output into 1.5A for each of the outputs.

Input Charging:

This Dodocool power bank is recharged through a Micro-USB input port and it has a max recharge rate of 5V/2.0A. As a result, you should use a 2 Amp USB wall charger to recharge it as fast as possible.

Design

Size and Weight:

This Dodocool portable charger is actually very convenient to take anywhere and everywhere with you. That’s because it has a very slim form factor and also a lightweight.

The length of it is 5.1 inches, the width is 2.5 inches, and the thickness is 0.5 inches. The weight of the charger is 7.2 Ounces. It’s was very easy to fit this power bank into our pockets and holding it in a single handle also felt easy. Bette yet, you can place this charger into a cloth mini bag that it comes with that can protect it and also so you don’t have to feel the cold Aluminum while it’s into your pocket.

Functional Components:

Using this power bank is super easy and that’s mainly because there’s no power button.

All you have at the top of the charger are four White LED power capacity indicators and then the rest of the functional parts include the Built-in Micro-USB cable, the adapter that’s stored within the power bank and then the USB-A port which is found under the built-in cable.

Charging starts automatically no matter if you’re charging with the built-in cable or the USB-A charging port.

Build

Structure and Material:

The entirety of this power bank is made of Aluminum and it feels great to hold. The charger is very solid and doesn’t have any loose pieces.

Tech:

On the tech side this charger also does a great job as it doesn’t warm up at all even when you’re charging two devices at once and when considering its very small size, having it not warm up is actually quite amazing.

Reliability

This Dodocool power bank is very reliable to use and that’s because it basically has three different way to charge. There’s the built-in Micro-USB charging cable, and also the USB-C adapter that can be used to charge the newer generation of USB-C compatible smartphones.

In addition to that, there’s the USB-A charging port that can be used with any charging cable.

Summary:

Power:

There’s a good amount of power capacity to be used with this charger that can charge most smartphones to full power about two times. You can use the built-in Micro-USB cable to charge compatible devices and you can also use the USB-C adapter to charge USB-C devices too. The use of a USB-A charging port is useful for using any cable that you’d like.

Charging power is quite good with its 2.1A per port speed and then there’s the 3.1A Max output.

Design:

The design is one of the best parts of this power bank and that’s because it has a length of only 5 inches and a very thin form factor that can easily fit into your pocket.

Build:

The entire power bank is made of Aluminum is quite sturdy.

Reliability:

It’s a very reliable portable charger that can be used to charge with a few different devices and the versatility of it is what makes it most reliable.
