We think that high capacity power banks should be more than just a high capacity portable charger.

They should provide value with the power capacity that comes with them. This is an important aspect for chargers like these because it matters heavily with that you do with a large amount of power that’s available.

Then there are some cases where these large power banks have numerous charging ports and even then it still matters what those charging ports are capable of and most of all how fast the power bank is able to recharge. These small aspects all come together to separate a mediocre power bank from a great one.

This is the Expert Power 30,000mAh power bank, let’s see if it has what it takes to offer a powerful charging experience when you place everything it has together.

Power Capacity

With the Expert Power charger, there’s a LOT of initial power capacity of 30,000mAh and of course, the Output power capacity that you’ll actually receive will be less than the initial.

Based on its charging capabilities with it having 3 charging ports and a quite a fast charging rate throughout each of its Output ports, the Output power capacity for this power bank can fluctuate depending on the way you’re using it.

With that said, we’re going to assume that you’re using about 2 ports at most at the same time and this can make the Output power capacity 25,000mAh or even lower if the devices you’re charging requires a high Amperage Output to charge.

This kind of conversion rate is also happening because the Expert Power Portable charger doesn’t use any special batteries like Panasonic battery cells that are able to give a better conversion rate.

Power Capacity for Smartphones

Even with the Output power capacity being lower than the initial one, it’s still able to provide a lot of full charges to smartphones, we’re talking about having the ability to charge smartphones 8 times or more.

Power Capacity for Tablets

As for the tablets, the power bank can cut right through them as well with full-sized tablets being able to fully recharge about 1.5 times; as for Mini sized tablets, they can recharge about 2.5 times if you’re taking full advantage of the power capacity.

Output Charging: Port 1: 5V/2.4A    Port 2: 5V/2.4A    Quick Charge Port: 5V/3.0A  Max Output: 4A

The Output charging offers quite a lot, but what it can actually offer when you’re using it can be quite limited. This is because the Max Output for the power bank is only 4 Amps.

There are 2 Output Ports that are able to deliver a Max Standard charging speed of 2.4 Amps, and then the last port is Quick Charge 2.0. Each of the ports is able to deliver a superb charging speed and nearly any device that you connect to the power bank will be able to charge at its max charging speed.

You can connect a Quick Charge compatible device to the Quick Charge port for them to charge at Quick Charge speeds.

The charging speeds all sound great but it’s important to remember that you can’t take full advantage of what each port has to offer if you’re charging 2 or 3 devices that have high Amperage needs of charging. This means that you can’t charge 2 iPads at the same time and charge them at max charging speed.

This is because the Max Output of 4 Amps, will only allow the charging ports to charge at 2 Amps each. Then charging 3 high Amperage devices at the same time will heavily affect the charging speed for every one of them.

However, this kind of charging speed problem will most likely only arise if you’re charging something like 2 or 3 iPads at once. If you’re mostly using smartphones with this power bank, then the charging experience can actually be better.

Input Charging:  Two Micro-USB Input Ports: 5V/2.0A     Max Recharge Rate: 4A

The most welcoming thing about this power bank is that it uses 2 Micro-USB input ports and this means that you can recharge it using 2 Micro-USB charging cables at the same time. By using the 2 Micro-USB Input ports, the power bank will be able to recharge within 10-13 hours.

With that said, it’s best to use a 2.4 Amp wall charger that has 2.4A charging through each of its charging ports. If you’re using an only a single Micro-USB Input port to recharge the power bank then it will recharge double the time it takes to recharge it with using the 2 Micro-USB Input ports.

Size and Weight

With something that has a 30,000mAh power capacity, 3 charging ports and the 2 Micro-USB Input ports, this power bank is large and heavy. Although we understand why it’s heavy and large is actually quite a normal thing.

The length is 6.1 inches, it has a width of 3.2 inches and it has a thickness of 0.9 inches. It’s a heavy portable charger as well because it weighs 1.1 pounds. So it’s not the kind of portable charger that you’d take with you on walks or the to gym.

It’s one of those power banks that you’d take to a location and set it down to charge your devices. These are meant to be taken to the office or library and be used as a charging hub for the devices that you want to charge.

This isn’t to say that this power bank isn’t portable, it’s just that you’ll be using it a little differently than you would use Small Power banks or better yet, Slim Power Banks.

Functional Components

The power bank has most all of its functional parts near the same proximity to each other and as a result, it’s easy to use. All 3 of the USB Output charging ports are on a short side of the power bank and with them are also two flashlights. On the long side is where there are the 2 Micro-USB Input ports are. On top of the charger is where you can find the power button and 4 LED Power capacity indicators.

Charging automatically starts once a device is connected to the power bank and charging is able to stop when there aren’t any devices connected to the charger.

This leaves the power button with the ability to check the power capacity and to turn on the two flashlights by holding the power button down for about 3 seconds and holding it down again to turn off the flashlights.

Build

Structure and Material

The structure and material aren’t anything special but the power bank does a good job at holding itself together. There are about 3 separate pieces that it’s made out of and they’re all made of plastic.

The charger may look like it’s a rugged one that can possibly take falls but it’s best not to test it. Even though it’s solidly built, the weight of the power bank is really heavy and it the event of a fall, it can very well be damaged.

Tech

On the tech side, things could better but then again, they could worse as well. The power bank doesn’t feature any special tech that could improve its powering capabilities like Panasonic Battery cells or cool technology. However, it does use safety techs like Shor-Circuit, Over-Current, and Surge Protection.

Reliability

We think that there is a place for this power banks and we think that it’s for those that want lots of constant power. There are more portable power bank chargers that are able to be taken anywhere, be held in your hand and even placed into your pocket.

This one isn’t that versatile, but what it lacks in portability is what it’s able to make up in its powering area.

Its power capacity can charge smartphones numerous times, and charge either full sized and Mini-sized tablets 2 times. This can result in the charger lasting for days or maybe even for weeks. If you can forgive the heavyweight and large size, then its reliability will definitely come in handy.

Summary

Power:

The power capacity is large and plentiful even with the Output power capacity being lower than the initial one. It has 3 charging ports and each of them is able to supply an Ample amount of charging speed, although the Max Output of power doesn’t exactly match up to what the charging ports can do.

It has 2 Micro-USB ports to recharge the power bank in half the time it would take with just a single Input port.

Design:

It’s a large and heavy one too, it’s to be expected though with it having such a large power capacity and so many charging ports.

Build:

The build is quite alright but it does nothing special. It’s made of plastic and is solidly built. It has the necessary safety charging tech to keep you and your devices safe.

Reliability

It’s really reliable in terms of its power, but if you’re searching for a really portable power bank that you can take anywhere and feel that it’s easy to carry, this isn’t the most reliable one in that case.

However, the amount of power that comes behind them is what matters the most and if that’s what you value, then the Expert Power portable charger can offer just that.
