Portable jump starters are one of the most dependable power banks to own. However, most jump starters don’t have excellent charging power, even though they can jump-start your car. Recently, jump starter power banks have been improving drastically by using powerful USB-C Power Delivery ports that make owning a potable jump starter better than some regular power banks.

In this review, I’m looking at this Fanttik T8 Max 3000A portable jump starter. Compared to the competition, this Fanttik jump starter has a lower price, more power, and more valuable accessories.

Power Capacity

The power capacity of this jump starter is nothing too special, with its 24,000mAh capacity; however, this is a decently high capacity that can charge most phones to full power about three or four times. If you’re charging tablets or laptops, which this power bank can do, you will likely get a single full charge with some spare capacity.

When it comes to jump-starting vehicles, as long as this jump starter is fully charged, you can get about 60 jumps out of it. So the 24,000mAh capacity is more than enough for what the power bank is intended for.

Jump Starting Power

Not all portable jump starters are equal; you may have already noticed that because some have high and lower peak currents. The higher the peak current, the better because there’s a higher chance that your car or another vehicle can be jump-started in case the battery is very weak.

I honestly wouldn’t recommend purchasing a 1000A peak current jump starter because that may not be enough power to jump your vehicle, and you may be stuck with a dead battery with nowhere to go, and you’d have to call a tow service.

Higher peak current batteries are better, as they’re more dependable. This Fanttik T8 Max has a 3000A peak current that’s pretty high and will give you a good chance of starting your car. Also, this Fanttikk jump starter can jump up to 10L Gasoline engine vehicles and 8L Diesel engine vehicles.

The jump-starting power is not lacking and is reliable in nearly every aspect.

Output Charging

Other than the ports for the jump-starting cables, there is a USB-C port and a USB-A Quick Charge port. The USB-C port has a 100W Power Delivery output, and the USB-A port has an 18W output.

The main reason you’d get this jump starter is its 3000A jump starting, but with this Fanttik power bank using a 100W USB-C port, it’s a huge plus. A 100W Power Delivery charging speed can fast charge most USB-C chargeable laptops, phones, and tablets. In my testing, I could charge my Lenovo Flex 5 laptop at about 30W, which is its Max charging speed, and I could fast charge a Galaxy Note 9. This is because the max output of this Fanttik jump starter is 118W, so you can use the max power of the two ports simultaneously.

If you wanted to, you could use this Fanttik power bank as a daily driver because of how powerful the charging power is; that said, the size and weight may be too much. Still, it’s possible.

Input Charging

Also, the input charging is just as impressive as the output charging because you can use the same USB-C port to recharge this jump starter at 100W. You can use a 100W Power Delivery wall charger to recharge it at 100W. In my test, I used a UGREEN 100W PD wall charger to recharge the unit at 100W, and if you’re going from 0% to 100%, it can take under an hour.

The only downside is that this jump starter does not come with a 100W PD wall charger; instead, in the box, you get a USB-C to USB-C cable, the jump-starting cables, and a 100W PD car charger. I tested out the included car charger with a built-in USB-C to USB-C cable, and I could recharge this jump starter at 100W, which is excellent.

Also, the car charger has a USB-A Quick Charge port that you can use to charge another device, but you have to stop charging from the built-in cable to use the USB-A port on the car charger.

Size and Weight

In general, jump starters are larger and heavier than regular power banks because of all that extra circuitry. This Fanttik T8 Max has a 10.4-inch length, a width of 4 inches, and a thickness of 2 inches. The jump starter weighs 2 pounds.

So it’s not large, but you won’t fit it into your pocket, and it may be a bit cumbersome to hold in your hands. That said, taking it anywhere you want is still manageable, but for the most part, you’re likely to keep this in your car.

Functional Components

When using this Fanttik T8 Max, you must hold the power button to turn it on. Once the jump starter is on, you can use the charging ports and the jump-starting capabilities.

Also, the Override Mode button is next to the power button that can activate Override Mode. This can be used when a battery is completely dead. Still, it would be best if you rarely used that because it’s meant for use when the jump starter can’t even detect a voltage from the battery that you’re trying to jump-start.

When it comes to regular jump starting, you only have to turn on the jump starter, plug in the cable clamps to the unit and connect the negative and positive clamps to the battery you’re starting.

Once the clamps are connected to the battery, the screen on the jump starter tells you the voltage and shows “Start” to show that you’re ready to start your car, and then it updates the voltage on the screen for the battery. Also, on the screen is where you can find the remaining capacity of the jump starter.

The flashlight and the power button for the side of the jump starter are off to the side. The flashlight has three settings: constant on mode, SOS mode, and a red flashing mode.

Structure and Material

The build quality of this jump starter is good, and it even has an IP65 water resistance rating when you have the ports covered with rubber coverings.

Tech

The working temperature for this jump starter is -4F to 131F. Storage temperature is -40F to 149F. So you can use it nearly any time you want, and I’d say it’s fine to have it in your car in emergencies when you need it.

Reliability

A portable jump starter will always be reliable, depending on the peak current of the jump starter. In this case, this Fanttik T8 Max is very reliable because of its 3000A peak current, which has a very high chance of jump-starting most batteries. Add the 100W of Power Delivery output and input; this T8 Max can be used as a daily power bank if you want to use it like that. Also, the included 100W PD car charger and a USB-C to USB-C cable are a great addition. The best part is that this Fanttik jump starter has a lower price than leading brands such as NOCO.
