Power banks are the best kind of charging tech and this is because they’re able to be implemented in lots of ways. Some power banks are able to be implemented within charging cables.

Others are able to have Tough Rugged possibilities and can even be immersed in water. One thing will always remain the same with all power banks though and that’s the fact they’re always going to be portable. Power banks can go anywhere and everywhere it’s just a matter of how far you’re willing to take them.

With that said, this is the Ghostek Power Bank Backpack. Yes, it does have all the abilities to charge your devices and a power capacity that is able to last quite a bit. The best part is, a Backpack with a power bank is quite literally able to go anywhere.

Power Capacity:

The power capacity starts at 7,000mAh and since there are 3 charging ports with the power bank, it’s going to depend on how you’re using the charger to really say what the Output power capacity will be.

So if you’re charging 2 devices at once, then you’re most likely going to be receiving a 70% conversion rate and that will result in an Output power capacity of 4,900mAh.

A usable power capacity of 4,900mAh is still very helpful and you’re going to be able to charge most smartphones about 2-3 full times. When it comes to charging smartphones with high battery capacities, then you’re going to be able to get about 1.5 full charges.

GhostTek NRGbag BackPack for Tablets

Also, an Output power capacity of 4,900mAh is still enough to charge a few tablets to their full power. For example, if you’re charging a Galaxy Tab with its 4,000mAh capacity, then it’s able to charge to full power once. However, other mini tablets like the iPad Mini 2 or iPad Mini 4 are going to charge near their full power but not fully.

Output Charging:

There are 3 charging ports, and each of the ports is able to charge at 5v/2.0A. What’s even better is that the Max Output of the Built-In power bank on the Ghostek backpack is 3.8A.

One charging port is outside of the backpack and the two other charging ports can be found inside the backpack.

A charging speed of 5V/2.0A is going to be able to charge most smartphones at their max charging speed and tablets will be able to charge near their max rates.

However, the built-in power bank does not feature Quick Charge, so your Quick Charge compatible devices will not be able to charge at their max charging rates.

Input Charging:

What’s really great about this power bank is that it doesn’t feature the normal Micro-USB Input that’s used to recharge most power banks. Instead, it uses a DC-Input that is able to recharge the power bank at 12V/1.0A. As a result, the power bank is able to recharge quite quickly within 3-4 hours.

Design

Size and Weight:

It’s an average sized backpack that you shouldn’t have problems carrying on your back.

Since it has a length of 18 inches, a width of 14 inches and a thickness of 6 inches. The weight of the backpack alone is 2.8 pounds.

Functional Components:

Compartments

The backpack has two main zipper compartments on the front. There’s one large one and the other smaller compartment is where the power bank and 2 built-in charging cables are.

Outside USB Port

On the outside, there’s a USB port that’s facing down for easier access and the USB port that’s on the outside of the backpack is the strongest design feature because you can have a smartphone charging while you’re using it like normal. It’s very convenient to have.

All the Things a Power Bank has:

The other power bank components on the outside of the Ghostek backpack power bank are 4 LED power capacity indicators, a power button, and a DC Input to recharge the power bank.

How it Works

You must press the power button to begin charging. Altogether, you can charge one device when you’re on-the-go, and when you’ve settled down with the backpack, then you can charge 3 devices at once.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of the Ghostek backpack is pretty good, but it also has its faults. The main good thing is that it’s water resistant and all your vital belongings won’t get wet.

However, there are compartments within the backpack that have Styrofoam lining/padding and eventually, after constant use, the lining of those can be ripped and overall the integrity of it can be compromised.

Tech:

On the tech side, the Ghostek power bank is quite good with its tech build, by that I mean it’s average. The power bank that it uses is able to give good charging speeds and is able to recharge at a good rate because it recharges uses a DC Input.

There are no overheating issues, thankfully, because that would mean putting your backpack at a risk.

Reliability

If you’re looking for a way to even carry around a power bank in your hand or pocket, then this Ghostek backpack is exactly what you’re searching for. The built-in power bank is the sole reason that this backpack is going to be more reliable than just a regular backpack.

Most people that go to school and work, usually have a backpack for their belongings and since you have a backpack on for either a short or long while, then you can charge your smartphone with this while you walk.

This backpack has integrated one of the most useful charging technologies with a product that most of us use every day.

Summary:

Power:

The power bank has enough power capacity to charge most smartphones 2-3 times and great charging too.

Design:

There’s not a lot of compartments when it comes to the backpack but the charging portion of the power bank is designed well, since there’s a USB port on the outside that allows for charging while you’re on-the-go.

Build:

Even though the backpack is waterproof, there are a few parts that are weak because they use Styrofoam lining.

Reliability:

If you’re thinking of getting a more than a normal backpack, then this is it because it’s able to give power while your wear it.
