USB-C is the future when it comes to charging our portable devices. The reason for that is because the Type-C standard is able to deliver faster charging for small devices such as smartphones and it’s also being used for larger devices such as laptops.

For the most part, when it comes to laptop charging we always think about an adapter that usually has a power supply brick. Using those types of chargers can be quite a large hassle as they’re heavier, and you’ve also got a long AC adapter cord. Another thing about laptop chargers is that they’re only meant for charging that certain laptop that you’ve got, and that that’s why USB-C is growing so rapidly. USB-C is now being used with laptops and therefore, you can use the same USB-C wall charger that you use to charge your laptop to charge your smartphone.

It’s all becoming more universal.

That’s why we’re reviewing this iClever USB-C 30W USB-C wall charger with Power Delivery. Power Delivery is a powerful form of charging that USB-C offers. With Power Delivery you’re able to charge UBS-C compatible laptops at a faster rate. So let’s take a closer look at this clever wall charger.

Power

Output Charging:

The charging that you get from this USB-C wall charger is one of the best parts of it. That’s of course because it uses USB-C Power Delivery which delivers 30W of charging power. The first thing to about actually using this wall charger is that you have to use a USB-C to USB-C charging cable to charge USB-C compatible devices.

It’s with its 30W of power that you’re able to charge MacBooks that use USB-C, or Chromebooks that use USB-C at or near their max charging speed. That’s the main benefit of Power Delivery with USB-C, as most wall chargers that just use regular USB-C ports only output 15W of power but that’s a very slow charging speed for laptops.

At the same time, you can use the USB-C port to charge smartphones that use Power Delivery to charge at their max charging speed. Smartphones such as the Google Pixel, iPhone X, and iPhone 8 are examples of smartphones that use Power Delivery for max charging speed. You might be wondering how you’re able to use this iClever wall charger to charge an iPhone, well you can use a USB-C to Lightning cable to charge it at its max charging speed.

Overall, this iClever Power Delivery is great to use if you have devices that can charge faster than the standard 3 Amp charging rate that most USB-C devices can do. Definitely a good amount of power for USB-C compatible laptops

Design

Size and Weight:

Since this iClever wall charger only has a single USB-C port it’s very small and even though the use of additional USB-A charging ports would have been nice; ultimately, it would have made it larger and the objective design is just better for portability.

With its use of only a single USB-C port, it has a length and width of only 2 inches and the thickness of this charger is 1.1 inches. The weight of it is 3 ounces. You’re going to have absolutely zero problems being able to take this everywhere and anywhere as placing this into a purse or even in your pocket are very realistic options.

Functional Components:

There are only 3 main functional components with this wall charger.

The first one is, of course, the USB-C port and then above the port is where you’ll find a Blue LED light to show that the wall charger is plugged in and ready to provide power. The one other functional component is the retractable AC adapter that makes portability easier.

If you’re someone that sleeps in the pitch black dark, then the Blue LED light might be a little too bright but that can be fixed with covering it up with some tape. That said, if you’re not disturbed by the light then it’s fine.

Build

Structure and Material:

The entire wall charger is made of plastic and that’s okay as basically most wall chargers even within the Power Delivery wall charging space are made of plastic. The components feel great to use even after constant use. We also had no problems with the AC adapter being loose or the receptacles falling out which can be a common thing to happen with wall chargers that use built adapters.

Tech:

On the tech side, this wall charger is very safe to use even when you’re maxing out its 30W of Power Delivery charging power.

Reliability

If you’re reading this review, then this iClever wall charger is likely going to be very reliable to you because you may own a device that can charge at its max charging speed when you use Power Delivery charging power. In this case, it’s 30W, and if you own a laptop that uses USB-C, then it’s going to be very reliable.

However, if you own a device that uses USB-C but is not Power Delivery compatible then you’re likely going to receive only 15W of max charging power and in that case, it’s best to just purchase a regular USB-C wall charger to save yourself some money.

Summary:

Power:

There’s a lot of power to be used if you’re charging USB-C compatible laptops and also have a smartphone that uses Power Delivery. 30W of power can definitely go a long way, just make sure you own a USB-C to USB-C charging cable for USB-C compatible devices and a Lightning to USB-C cable if you want to charge an iPhone X or iPhone 8 at their max charging speed.

Design:

It’s very small by being a complete square and you’re able to take it anywhere.

Build:

All the components on this miniature wall charger feel great to use and the wall charger altogether has a great structure.

Reliability:

On the reliability side of this charger, it’s going to depend if you’re really relying on its full potential and relying on its full potential means that you’re using its powerful Power Delivery charging abilities.
