One of the fastest growing charging technologies is Power Delivery. Most might think that it’s Quick Charge, but Quick Charge is really at a standstill currently because it can only be limited to Android smartphones that are compatible with the charging tech. While on the other hand, Power Delivery is a lot more widespread among portable devices because it’s able to be universally used with many devices because it uses the USB-C standard.

USB-C is becoming more common and since it’s compatible with Power Delivery that’s what more and more portable devices are starting to use because they have the option to use Power Delivery.

Not only are wall chargers starting to use USB-C Power Delivery, portable chargers have started to use it too. This is definitely a game-changer when it comes to charging our portable devices and that’s because we’re able to charge our Power Delivery compatible devices at or near their max charging speed while on the move.

This iMuto 20,100 portable charger has Power Delivery, but what makes it interesting is that it has a Power Delivery port that can output a charging speed of 45W. So let’s take a closer look to see what this means.

Power

Power Capacity:

The power capacity of this power bank is quite a bit lower than what most portable chargers that use Power Delivery have. As some other Power Delivery power banks that we’ve reviewed have a power capacity of 26,800mAh. While this charger has a 20,100mAh power capacity. So if you’re searching for a lot more power capacity that can last you for a longer time and charge more, take a look at those alternatives.

So let’s see how much of the 20,100mAh power capacity that you’re actually able to use.

3.7 x 20,100 = 74,370 / 5 = 14,874

The output capacity that you’re able to use to charge your devices is going to be about 15,000mAh. It’s with this power capacity that you’re able to charge most smartphones to their full power about 4.5 times. Charging tablets with this power bank can result in about two full charges if your tablet has a battery capacity of 6,000mAh.

If you’re charging larger USB-C Power Delivery compatible devices such as the MacBook or Chromebook, then you can charge them to full power about 1.5 times. Why does charging larger devices result in lower charges?

Well, it’s not really because laptops feature larger batteries, but in this case, it would be because laptops that use Power Delivery have faster charging speeds, therefore the faster charging speed will result in a lower conversion of power.

Output Charging:

Charging power from this iMuto Power Delivery portable charger is very good, but at the same time, limited. The reason that it’s limited because this power bank only features two output charging ports.

USB-C Power Delivery Port

The USB-C port on this iMuto portable charger is more powerful than your average Power Delivery port on other power banks. That’s because this USB-C port has an output charging speed of 45W. Most Power Delivery portable chargers are able to output a charging speed of 30W.

Does the increase in charging power really matter? Well, yeah it does if you’re charging devices such as a MacBook or Chromebook laptops and that’s because the 45W of charging power is able to charge the laptops faster than the 30W of charging power that other power banks offer.

Quick Charge Port

The one other output port for this power bank is the USB-A port which features Quick Charge, and so you can use that to charge Quick Charge compatible smartphones at their max charging speed. Or you can use the Quick Charge port on his power bank as a standard port to charge Non-Compatible Quick Charge devices.

Input Charging:

Recharging this power bank is also a great experience. There are two input ports on this charger. There is a Micro-USB and USB-C input port.

You can only use one input at a time, but if you can, you should definitely use the USB-C port for recharging this power bank and that’s because it uses Power Delivery to recharge. That said, in order to recharge this power bank at Power Delivery speeds, you need a 45W USB-C Power Delivery wall charger, and a USB-C to USB-C charging cable, which you likely already own.

If not, here are some recommendations.

Or you can use the Micro-USB input port to recharge this power bank, but it has a recharge of 5V/2.1A only.

Design

Size and Weight:

The size of this power bank is large, but nothing massive. As it has a length of 6.3 inches, a width of 3 inches, and a thickness of 0.8 inches. The weight of the power bank is 13 Ounces. So it might not be the type of portable charger that you charge while you walk with, but it’s still simple to take anywhere with you and set it down to charge your devices while you’re on the move.

Functional Components:

Using this power bank is quite simple. All the charging ports are on the single side, and the power button and four Blue power capacity indicators are on the long side of this charger. You do have to press the power button to begin charging through either the USB-A port or the USB-C port.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this power bank is very good, with it having a larger strip in the center that protects the power banks in the event of a fall, At the same time, this isn;’t a rugged power bank, so just be careful not to drop it from high heights.

Tech:

This iMuto portable charger does get warm while you’re using the Power Delivery charging, and that’s really what you can expect with portable chargers that use Power Delivery as there’s quite a lot of power being outputted. It doesn’t get hot, just warm, though,

Reliability

The reliability of this charger depends on what you’re going to use it for. If you’re getting this power bank for the Quick Charge, then stop and look for a much cheaper alternative that is also more simple.

This power bank is it’s most reliable if you’re going to make use of the Power Delivery, and even if you can’t really find a use for the USB-A Quick Charge port, it still makes sense to get it for the Power Delivery because the Power Delivery port offers 45W of charging power. Higher than the norm.

Summary:

Power:

The Power Delivery port on this power bank is more powerful than what most other Power Delivery portable chargers feature.

Design:

It’s an easy charger to use and even though it’s quite large, it’s still easy to take nearly anywhere with you.

Build:

The build quality of this power bank is good structurally. While you’re using Power Delivery, it can get quite warm.

Reliability:

You should definitely get his power bank if you’re going to make use of the Power Delivery, and not for the Quick Charge port. As the Quick Charge port is really only a plus.
