Portable Power stations are not the most popular portable powering solution as they’re large and heavy with their massive power capacities and having a whole lot of charging and powering options too.
That said, the part that makes portable power stations undesirable is also what makes them so great to have as there are indeed lots of ways to use them from charging your smartphones and tablets, to charging your laptops too. Of course, they have a lot of power to last a lot longer than just your regular portable charger.
This iMuto Portable Generator is what we’re talking about when it comes to portable power stations as it has quite a high power capacity and plenty of charging options too.
Also, this powering station has a bit of modularity as iMuto has an add-on piece that can give you, even more, powering and charging power, although we question a design like that. Let’s take a closer look.
Compared to other portable power stations that we’ve done reviews on here at Charger Harbor, this iMuto portable power station has a rather low power capacity of 50,000mAh.
Now we know that’s still a lot of power and you’re right, 50,000mAh of power capacity can give you a lot of full charges to smartphones and tablets, however, if you want even more power there are power stations such as Anker’s PowerHouse or Goal Zero’s Yeti 400 that each have 120,000mAh power capacity.
With all that said, it’s simple to understand why iMuto chose to go with a lower power capacity than the competition and that would be the price point of this generator.
As this portable power station is priced a lot lower because of its low power capacity and it also has a smaller size and it weighs lighter too. The lower power capacity in terms of being a portable generator makes sense and it’s a great choice if you’re searching for something that is more affordable and not the highest end of portable generator tech.
The 50,000mAh power capacity is the initial power capacity and it’s vital to focus on the power that you’ll actually be receiving from this charger. The batteries in this powering stations are rated at 3.7V.
3.7 x 50,000 = 185,000 / 5 = 37,000

For the most part, you’re going to be receiving an Output power capacity of 37,000mAh and that’s still a lot of power even after its conversion.
You’re still able to charge smartphones into the double digits to full power and you can even charge some tablets into the double digits if you’re mostly using this power source station to charge a tablet.
However, if you’re purchasing this iMuto portable power source station then you’re most likely going to want to go further than just charging smartphones and tablets, as it can also charge laptops too.
There’s a lot of power to charge laptops to their full power, and you’re also able to power appliances too. Something to know about powering appliances though is that this iMuto power station alone, doesn’t have an AC adapter and you must purchase the AC inverter separately.
There are quite a few parts of the iMuto portable power station that you need to know and what they’re capable of.
USB Charging Ports:
The USB charging portion of this generator is really good and we found that to be surprising and a great thing at the same time. That’s because of most of the time when it does come to USB ports on power stations such as this, the charging ports are rather weak with charging speeds of 5V/1.0A only, which is slow.
In this case, though, this iMuto power station has 4 USB ports with three of the ports having a charging speed of 5V/2.4A each and then there’s one USB port that uses Quick Charge with a charging speed of 5V/3.0A | 9V/2.0A.
The max output of the USB port part of this power station is 56W or 11.2A and that is a lot of power that allows you to use the max power of each of the ports at their max power at the same time.
However, the max output of power when it comes to power station overall is 100W, so you may not be able to use the max power of each USB port at the same time if you’re using the DC Output ports too.
DC Charging Ports:
On the iMuto power station itself, there are three DC Output ports. There are two DC ports that have a charging speed of 12V/5.0A and then there’s a single 19V/4.0A port.
Each of the ports is able to charge your laptop or any other DC charging device that you may own, you just have to match the powering requirements with the device and the DC port.
That said, you can add an additional DC port with the AC inverter attachment and that gives you a fourth DC port with a charging speed of 9-12.6V/15A, and well, that kind of output is more for powering an appliance rather than charging.
AC Outlet with Addition of AC Inverter:
If you do choose to get the AC inverter add-on then you’re able to use an AC Outlet that provides a max power of 100W. It’s not too much power but it’s good enough to power small appliances such as lamps, fans, and mini fridges too.
To recharge this power station there’s a single DC input port just as most portable generators use.
A great part of this portable power generator is that it has multiple ways to recharge it using the DC input port. That’s because you can use either AC adapter or car charger that it comes with; you can also recharge it using the Solar Charger.
The recharging speed ranges from 12V to 24V. The fastest to the slowest method of recharging this portable power station is:
- AC Adapter
- Car Adapter
- Solar Charger
Size and Weight:
Most of the time when it does come to portable power stations they’re quite large and heavy.
Not meant for everyday use and are more meant for either emergencies or if you’re going hiking or camping and want some reliable power that you can take with you in the wild.
That said, this iMuto portable power generator is actually quite small in comparison to other generators on the market and that is a good thing if you want a lighter weight and a small size to deal with if you’re moving with this charger.
It has a length of 4.7 inches, the width and thickness of this power station are 4 inches. The weight of the generator is 2.8 pound.
Overall, this isn’t too large in comparison to generators that have higher power capacities and you’re able to take this generator from one location to another rather easily as it also uses a handle that you can easily carry it from.
There are four sides on this iMuto portable power station and each of them has a functional part of the generator.
Has the DC Input port, an LCD display that shows the power capacity that’s left, the button to turn on the flashlight and the power button to turn on the generator.
There’s one side that is completely dedicated to three large LED lights. There are two main types of modes on this light and that would constant which is by simply pressing the power button once. Then you can turn on SOS by holding down the power button for light.
It’s a pretty powerful light that can give you ample amount of coverage when you turn it off and the best part is that it can stay on for 3,600 minutes if you need it.
On one side is where there are the three DC Output ports only. Both of the 12V/5.0A DC ports are paired together and then there’s the single 19V/4.0A port that’s alone.
The final side of the iMuto power station has its 4 USB charging ports. 3 of the USB ports are white and those are the 2.4 Amp ports and then the fourth Blue port is the Quick Charge port. Under the USB charging ports are where there’s a small compartment that’s labeled as “Fuse” and that is where you can actually replace fuses that have blown out.
At the top:
At the top of this portable generator itself is where there’s a DC Output and that’s for the AC inverter that you can attach to this generator.
When it comes to the AC inverter itself, then that’s where it has a power button to turn the inverter ON or OFF, it of course as its AC Outlet and the AC inverter attachment also has a DC Output port too.
Structure and Material:
The durability of this portable power generator is really good as it has a unibody lower body portion that is entirely made of Aluminum.
The top part is made of plastic and it’s also just a single piece. This power station is built really well and can definitely take a few light drops, but nothing too serious. A part that would have made its build quality really good is if it used charging port covers for dust proofing or even waterproofing too.
On the tech side, iMuto’s portable generator does a good job at providing a safe powering and charging experience as it doesn’t overheat. Also, if you do go over it’s powering limits of 100W then the power station automatically shuts off to prevent any harm to itself and to your devices too.
On the reliable side this is a portable power station, so of course, it’s very reliable as it has a very high power capacity and many charging ports too.
You can also power appliances with its add-on attachment, the AC inverter. That said, it’s important to know that this portable generator is on a lower level in comparison to other portable generators and that can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your needs.
It doesn’t have as much as a high power capacity as other leading portable generators and neither does it use multiple AC Outlets, but it does everything very minimally so it’s at least easy to be portable with.
There’s enough power to charge devices multiple times to their full power and also to power devices for about an hour constantly depending on how much Wattage the appliance you’re powering requires.
This isn’t actually too large of a portable generator and that’s what makes it a great one too, as it’s lighter and smaller than ones that have higher power capacities
The build quality of this portable power station is great as it has a solid top plastic build and a unibody Aluminum structure at the bottom.
It’s a very reliable portable power generator, that said, you have to decide if it does indeed have enough power to rely on for your needs. The lower power capacity than other generators definitely makes portability with it more reliable.
