Slim power banks are the most useful kinds of mini power banks. The alternative to them is using the portable charger that is cylindrically shaped but those can be quite thick and aren’t going to be able to fit into your pocket as easily.
This is why, at Charger Harbor, we much prefer Slim power banks and we think you would too since most of them are about the same size as a smartphone, and as a result, they’re easy to hold and even place into your pocket.
This is the Jackery Pop Slim. We’ve already reviewed one of Jackery’s other Slim power banks called the Jackery Air 6 and it proved to be very capable with its portability and design, but ultimately the powering side of it was quite weak. Let’s see if this Jackery Pop has more to provide with its power while still holding onto its Slim Roots.

Power Capacity:
The power capacity of the Jackery Pop Slim starts at 5,000mAh and you’re not going to be losing a lot of power during charging. This is because this power bank only uses a single charging port, so, during charging, the conversion of power is only happening for a single device.
That’s going to result in the power capacity having a conversion rate of about 75%, which is better than the average conversion rate and as a result, you’re going to be able to use 3,600mAh of its power capacity.
Pop Slim for Smartphones
It’s with an Output power capacity of 3,600mAh that you’re going to be able to charge most smartphones 1 and a half times.
Even smartphones that have high power capacities, like the Galaxy S7, Google Pixel, or iPhone 7 Plus. Those smartphones can charge to their full power at least once with the Jackery Pop. It’s a perfect power bank for a smartphone because of its power capacity, and portability.

Pop Slim for Tablets
However, if you’re planning on charging larger devices that have higher battery capacities, then it’s most likely not going to be able to charge a device like a tablet to its full power. If you do plan on charging a tablet, a Mini tablet like a Galaxy Tab is going to fair well since most of them have a battery capacity of 4,000mAh.
Output Charging:
There’s only a single charging port. The USB port has a charging speed of 5V/2.1A. It’s a very good charging speed considering that this is a Slim power bank, and the charging speed is going to be able to charge most smartphones at their max charging speeds.
At least this is going to be true when you’re charging a smartphone like an iPhone 6 and other iPhones beyond that because their max charging speeds are at 2 Amps.
However, this power bank will not be able to charge Quick Charge compatible smartphones at their max charging rate, because it doesn’t feature Quick Charge. Although, a 2.1 Amp charging speed will still fair well.
Input Charging:
The recharging speed is also good because the Jackery Pop Slim power bank can recharge at 5V/2.2A. You should use a 2.4A USB wall charger to recharge the power bank as fast as possible, and that will result in a full recharge within just 3 hours.

Design
Size and Weight:
Basically, Like a Smartphone
The size and weight of the Jackery Pop are the best parts of the power bank. Since it’s the size of a smartphone and is just as lightweight too.
It has a length of 4.9 inches, a width of 2.5 inches, and a thickness of 0.4 inches. The weight of the power bank is 5.1 ounces. So you can place this power bank in your pocket, possibly along with your smartphone, and have it charging your phone. Holding it doesn’t pose any problems either because you can just stack your phone on it.
Functional Components:
All of the functional parts of the power bank are on a single side. That’s where you’ll find the Micro-USB Input, the USB Output port, 3 Green LED power capacity indicators, and the power button.
Charging automatically starts when plugging a device into the USB port and it automatically stops charging either when the device your charging is fully recharged or when there is no longer a device connected to the power bank.
Build
Structure and Material:
The center part of the power bank is made of Aluminum and the two side parts are made of plastic. It’s a well-built power bank that won’t fall apart with constant use. With that said, it’s still very open to being damaged by drops and water, so don’t treat it roughly.
Tech:
Surprisingly, this Slim Jackery power bank uses Lithium-Ion batteries rather than Polymer ones.
As a result, heating issues aren’t a prevalent problem and that’s one of the main reasons that you’re able to receive such a good conversion rate during charging. In addition to that, the Jackery Pop makes use of safety protections to keep you and your devices safe.
Reliability
The Jackery Pop is going to be the most reliable for when your charging smartphones because it has a power capacity that’s going to be able to charge most smartphones once to their full power and just a single charging port.
It optimizes very well for charging smartphones too because the power bank has a good conversion rate to provide the most power and a charging speed that delivers well.
Aiming for larger devices like a tablet to charge with this power bank is going to be a mistake as you’ll be disappointed with its performance.
Also, the portability is the most noticeable feature as you’ll be able to take it nearly anywhere with ease.
Summary:
Power:
The power capacity has good conversion and the charging speed through its single port performs well with most smartphones.
Design:
It’s very small, has the thinness of a smartphone and it’s also very lightweight. Just like owning a second smartphone.
Build:
It has a good build, but it’s good to be very cautious about dropping this power bank because there’s nothing to protect it from shock damage.
Reliability:
The reliability is great for when you’re using it with smartphones, not so much when it comes to larger devices.
