In that case, you should consider owning a portable monitor. Portable monitors are the way to go if you want an easier time using a second or primary display because they’re tiny. They’re on par with regular monitors regarding display quality, and they’re straightforward to start using.
In this review, we’re taking a look at this KYY 15.6-inch USB-C portable monitor. Nearly everything about this monitor gives you a reason why you should go with a mobile form factor, so let’s see why that is.
What’s Included in the Box?
Coming right out of the box, this KYY monitor comes with everything that you’ll need to start using the monitor. In the box, you’ll find the 15.6-inch monitor itself aligned with the cover stand over it; in addition to those things, you’ll find a USB-C to USB-C cable, a USB-C to USB-A cable, an HDMI to micro HDMI cable, a USB-A wall charger, a manual and a cleaning kit. The cleaning kit is simply for cleaning the monitor screen.
What’s included in the box goes above and beyond because it gives you the ability to start using any of the three ports on the monitor, which provides two USB-C ports and one HDMI port.

Ports on the monitor and Compatibility
Using the monitor is simple, and in terms of what devices you can use, you can practically use most display devices with this KYY monitor. To the right of the monitor, you’ll find two USB-C ports and one HDMI port. The one other port is the 3.5mm headphone jack that can be found on the left side of the monitor.
There’s a set of speaker grills on either side of the monitor when watching media on the monitor display. Also, to the left, right next to the headphone jack is where you’ll find the power button and wheel scroller that can be pressed down to bring up the settings menu and used to adjust settings like brightness, contrast, along with a host of other options.
In tests for using the monitor, we used a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 laptop, and we ended using the HDMI cable connection with the KYY monitor because the Lenovo laptop we used doesn’t have a Thunderbolt USB-C port and instead uses a regular USB-C port that is used for charging and simple connectivity for sharing files.
That said, we didn’t have any problems with using the HDMI port method for sharing the display, and we used the included wall charger and USB-C to USB-A cable to power the KYY monitor. It worked flawlessly.
The Lenovo laptop display was immediately projected onto the KYY display. Still, we had to go into Windows Display settings to adjust the display to be extended onto the KYY monitor. This way, we could have a completely separate window open on either of the two displays.
We used the KYY monitor with a laptop, and you can use the monitor with most, if not all, laptops on the market. You can also use the monitor with nearly most portable devices that display such as smartphones, gaming consoles like the Switch, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and many others.

Quality of the Display and Benefits of two Displays
Knowing that this KYY portable monitor has a 1080p FHD IPS display, we did have an idea of what to expect. This KYY montoir would be very similar to the Lenovo laptop display we were using, and we ended up being correct.
The quality of this KYY monitor is excellent. Unless you’re expecting a 4K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, which you shouldn’t, based on this being a 1080p display with a 60Hz refresh rate, then you’re going to be satisfied with what you’re getting. The colors of the display aren’t too saturated or washed out, but we found ourselves increasing the brightness a bit because we found the default brightness to be too dim.
Also, this portable monitor does feature an HDR setting that can be turned on if that’s something that you enjoy using.
Of course, the whole reason for using a second monitor comes with a purpose, and it’s clearly to increase productivity for most users. You could have a document opened up with one screen and an Excel sheet on the other. You can also be watching a video on one screen and doing work on the other, as much as that doesn’t make sense, but it’s possible with the power of the two displays.
We watched a youtube video on the KYY portable monitor, specifically, an MKBHD video; the video played at 1080p. The video ran and looked great on the monitor and even had the audio working flawlessly with the two speaker grills on both sides.

Build Quality and the Cover Stand
Looking at the price of this KYY monitor and the build quality you’re getting; it’s easy to understand why this portable monitor is affordable. We’re not saying that it’s a cheaply built monitor, but the entirety of the monitor is made of plastic.
The monitor being made out of plastic is not a negative thought unless you care about having premium materials because the use of plastic makes it more lightweight. Even with it being made of plastic, it still has a solid build, and the monitor is beveled at the edges of the display, making it so that in the event of a fall, the screen is entirely safe.
The cover of the monitor also acts as a stand, and some users may find it confusing how to use it, but it’s pretty simple.

This KYY portable monitor is an excellent choice if you want a smaller form factor that’s easier to carry around and has just as good a display as any other regular monitor while letting you be more productive with the use of two screens. It’s easy to set up with nearly any device, and you can immediately start using it. It may not have the highest resolution, or be an OLED panel, have the highest refresh rate, or made of Aluminum alloy; however, it doesn’t need all those things because what you’re getting at its low price point is enough for most consumers looking for an easy to carry second display that improves their workflow.
