It’s not very common for a power bank that has lots of charging ports to provide the value that it’s supposed to.

We say this because most power banks that have plenty of charging ports aren’t able to give the best charging experience, simply because the ones that do have lots of charging ports don’t have that good of a charging speed or don’t have a very good power capacity.

There needs to be more than just plenty of ports and this is where quality is very important to have.

This is the Lumsing 15,000mAh power bank that has 3 charging ports. Let’s take a look if it’s able to live up to its 3 charging port legacy or if it falls to the rest of the market that think they can pass by with just fluff.

EasyAcc 15,000mAh Power Bank

Power

Power Capacity

For a 3 port power bank, we’d say that it’s kind of bizarre for such a power bank to have a power capacity of 15,000mAh but here we are. With that said, there has been another 3-port portable charger that we’ve called the EasyAcc 15,000mAh portable charger, it did pretty well with its power capacity and not only that, but it did really great with its charging speed.

It was also the charging speed with the EasyAcc that affected the Output power capacity that it was able to provide. The same goes for this Lumsing charger.

This Lumsing charger uses Lithium Polymer batteries, so Output power capacity is going to be quite lower than the initial power capacity and when you couple that with the dependency of what the Output Amp Current will be, then the Output power capacity can fluctuate quite a lot.

However, right now, we’ll assume that most of the time you’ll be charging 2 devices most of the time and use about 2.5 Amps at a time. This can result in having a conversion rate of about 75%, which is 11,250mAh of power capacity that you’ll actually be using.

We know that’s a lot of power capacity that’s being lost, but let’s focus on what you can do with it. For smartphones, this powerful power bank can dominate in that domain, which means that it can charge most smartphones about 4 times or more.

As for tablets, this power bank can still do a great job then too and this is mostly when you’re charging a tablet alone so it can take advantage of most of the power capacity. For Mini tablets, they can easily charge to their full battery potential. For larger, full-sized tablets, it’s going to be able to charge them about halfway or three-quarters of the way through.

Output Charging: Per Port: 5V/2.4A      Max Output: 3.2 Amps

So there’s nothing more we like seeing than a power bank that’s able to share its charging current between its charging ports, this way there’s no compromise of what Output port is able to deliver faster charging and what is limited to a slower charging speed.

In this case, each of the ports is able to deliver a Max Standard charging speed of 2.4 Amps. With that said, the most important thing to remember is that the Max Output is 3.2 Amps.

Powerful Ports, but Individually

We say that the Max Output is important because you can only take full advantage of 2.4 Amps from 1 single port at a time. This means if you connect a tablet to a charging port, it will be able to charge at its max charging speed of 2.4 Amps.

Then when you connect another tablet the charging speed of the two tablets will become 1.6 Amps, since the Max Output is 3.2 Amps. This isn’t to say that the charging speed of the power bank is bad, but it is to say that the charging power ceiling is quite low and if you plan on charging multiple tablets, then this isn’t the best the power bank.

Instead, the EasyAcc 15,000mAh portable that we mentioned earlier might just be better with its 4.8A Max Output.

Although, this charger is still very capable of charging smartphones at their max charging speed with it being able to divide the 3.2 Amp Output among 2 or 3 devices very well.

Input Charging: 5V/1.8A

Recharge speed is quite good although it could be better, it does well enough. If you’re using a 2 Amp wall charger or higher then it’s going to be fully recharged within 6-7 hours. If you’re using anything slower than a 2 Amp wall charger, then you could be waiting about 14 hours for it to fully recharge.

Size and Weight

For a 15,000mAh power bank, we find it to be very small and so small that it’s about the same size as the iPhone 6 Plus. As a result, it’s really portable.

This is because the Lumsing portable charger has a length of 6.2 inches, a width of 3 inches and a thickness of 0.7 inches. So it’s small enough that it can fit into your pockets and we find that it can very easily fit into a back pocket just like a smartphone can.

Fitting this power bank along with your smartphone into the pocket isn’t something that is very possible, though. With that said, the main downside is the weight because the charger weighs 11.7 ounces, and that’s nearly a pound.

Functional Components

The functional components have their quirks by the way they’re placed but it’s all mostly for functional reasons. You can find the 3 USB Charging Output ports and the Micro-USB Input port on the short side of the power bank.

A slightly strange thing about the USB ports is that a single USB port is placed at an offset. It’s placed at an offset so it’s easier to place charging cables into the power bank.

On the long side is where you can find the power button and on top is where there are 4 LED Power capacity indicators. Charging does NOT automatically start charging, instead, you have to press the power button 2 times to begin charging.

Charging stops when either there are no devices connected to the power bank or the devices that are being charged are fully charged.

Build

Structure and Material

The entirety of the power bank is made of plastic and it has about 3 separate pieces that come to together to make it whole. Overall, there’s nothing bad about the structure of the charger but it’s definitely not in the rugged category.

You’ll be able to use it every day but don’t drop it as the shock from the fall, along with its heavyweight can result in some sort of damage.

Tech

On the tech side, the Lumsing portable charger made a strong focus to provide a strong safety tech feature environment. The safety tech that it features are Overcharge, Over-Current, and Short-Circuit protection; all these ensure that you and your devices are safe during charging with no matter how much or long you’re charging your devices.

Similar Power Bank

Reliability

We always take into consideration the other things that power bank features other than the amount of charging ports it has. This Lumsing charger does a very good job with providing value with the 3 charging ports that it does have.

Sure, there are power banks that have a higher Max Output Current, but even with its 3.2 Amp Max Output, this charger is still able to provide value to smartphones and tablets. It’s just going to depend on what you’re charging with what.

We find the power capacity to be much lower than expected and if you expect to rely on the entirety of the power capacity that it initially offers, then it’s going to be a disappointment. However, portability isn’t a disappointment and is actually really good with its small dimensions.

Summary

Power:

Conversion rate could use some work as you’re losing close to 4,000mAh of power capacity. With that said, it does a great job at charging smartphones multiple times and it can charge some tablets to their full power capacities.

Charging speed is designed very well, with a Max Output of 3.2 Amps, with each port being able to Output 2.4 Amps and all the charging ports are able to share their charging speed.

Design:

It’s small enough that you can fit it into your pocket and we say that a power bank that you can fit into your pocket is designed very well. It doesn’t begin charging automatically, so you have to press the power button.

Build:

It’s made of plastic and there’s no way for it to deliberately survive falls, so it’s best not to be rough with it. On the inside is where most of the build qualities excel with lots of safety charging tech.

Reliability:

With 3 charging ports comes 3 times more responsibility and the Lumsing portable charger does well with increasing its responsibility of providing a charging experience that provides lots of value.

Conclusion

Lots of ports just not just a power bank to be useful, it matters more on what it can do with its charging ports and how well it does it. In this case, the Lumsing power bank does well enough but it doesn’t deliver a charging experience that goes very far in terms of being extraordinary.
