Review: Nimble 10,000mAh Power Delivery and Quick Charge Portable Charger

Nimble 10,000mAh Power Delivery and Quick Charge Power Bank

  • Makes use of Three output ports
  • Features Power Delivery and Quick Charge
  • Can be recharged at Power Delivery speeds
  • Made of recyclable materials that are great for the environment in the long-term

Just think for a second, a consumer electronics company that is concerned about the environment. Sounds strange, doesn’t it? When you’re purchasing a tech product are you thinking about the materials that it’s made up of or what happens Once you throw it away? Well, the common answer is that most people just don’t care and that’s basically the question that Nimble is trying to raise.

Nimble is a new brand of charging electronics and they’re more focused on the environmental effects that tech products have once they’re thrown away. Not only that, but it’s also about the packaging that it comes in, and that reason that this is all is so important is that their portable chargers and other charging electronics are all made of biodegradable material. So is the packaging it all comes in. This is something that not many other tech brands are doing and so they’re definitely competing in a Blue Ocean even though it might not seem like it.

With all that said, the main thing that holds value is their chargers and in this case, with this review, we’re focusing on their 10,000mAh portable charger. Nimble’s portable chargers definitely hold quite a lot of value and that’s because of their charging power and the charging tech that they feature. For this mid-range power bank, the power capacity might not be the highlight, but the usage of Power Delivery and Quick Charge definitely is.

Power Capacity:

So the power capacity of this portable charger is nothing to be impressed about and that’s not a negative thing, as it’s still a good amount. If you want more power to use then Nimble also has their 20,000mAh or 26,000mAh portable chargers that have tons more power. With all that said, let’s take a look at how much power you’re actually able to use with this charger.

3.7 x 10,000 = 37,000 / 5 = 7,400

So the average amount of power that you’re able to use with this charger is 7,400mAh. However, this much power is really applicable if you’re charging a Non-Quick Charge or Power Delivery device and that’s because if you’re using the fast charging with this power bank, the conversion rate goes down.

If you’re getting this power bank then you’re most likely going to be charging a Power Delivery or Quick Charge compatible smartphones and if that’s the case, then you expect to receive about 6,000mAh of output power capacity that you can actually use. In this case, that would be enough for charging most smartphones on the market to full power about two times. That’s basically what this power bank is made for, and that would be charging smartphones.

We realize that the power bank does feature Power Delivery, but it’s at the lower end, and in terms of power capacity, you might be able to charge a MacBook to full power, but that would take nearly the entire power capacity.

Output Charging:

On the charger side, there are three ports to use.

There are two USB-A ports, one is a standard port that has a 5V/2.4A charging speed. The other port makes use of Quick Charge and can, therefore, fast charge Quick Charges compatible smartphones such as Samsung smartphones, LG phones and many other Android smartphones that make use of the fast charging tech.

Fast Charge the iPhone X, 8, XS, XS Max and XR with Power Delivery Charging

The other output port is the USB-C port which can be used with a USB-C to USB-C charging cable to charge USB-C compatible devices. The charging rate of the USB-C port is 18W, and that’s basically the base of what Power Delivery is able to offer. That’s why we think it’s best to have this power bank for fast charging Power Delivery compatible smartphones

Can you charge USB-C Power Delivery compatible laptops? Yes, but only a few. When we say, “few”, we really mean that we trust this charger to charge a USB-C compatible MacBook and that’s about it. As many other Power Delivery compatible laptops on the market require more charging power, and that’s why we recommend getting a 30W or 45W Power Delivery portable charger for those larger laptops.

Keep the Power Delivery charging for this power bank for smartphones.

Input Charging:

For recharging this power bank, you have to use the USB-C port, and you can recharge this power bank at Power Delivery speeds when you use a Power Delivery wall charger.

Size and Weight:

The size of this portable charger is not a problem at all, and it’s not really surprising considering that 10,000mAh portable charger basically has the form factor of mini power banks now. So this charger has a length of 4.2 inches, a width of 2.5 inches, and a thickness of 1 inch. The weight of the power bank is 9 Ounces.

So the charger can be held and also placed into a pocket. The 1-inch thickness might be uncomfortable to some, and that’s why holding the charger can be a better option.

Functional Components:

All the charging ports are on a single side of this power bank and on the long-length side of the charger has 6 power indicators and the power button to start charging.

Yes, there are six power indicators and this is quite uncommon. One of the power indicators acts as a charging power indicator, with it being Orange for fast charging, and Green for regular charging.

The other five power indicators are Blue and each of them represents 20% of the power capacity that’s available. The use of the charging indicator is definitely helpful as you actually know what’s happening with the charging, and this is something that many power banks on the market do not use.

Structure and Material:

The build quality of the power bank might seem a little different than what you’re using on other portable chargers, as this Nimble charger is made of recyclable Aluminum and makes use bioplastics.

So the charger actually feels great in the hands, but at the same time, it feels somewhat lighter than what it looks like. Of course, it’s not a rugged power bank by any means and you should still be careful about dropping it.

Even though you’re able to charge three devices at once, the max output of the power bank is low enough that charging that many devices at the same time actually does not cause it to overheat.

Most 10,000mAh portable chargers on the market make use of either two or three USB-A ports. This Nimble portable charger not only makes use of three ports, but they’re powerful ones, with featuring Quick Charge and Power Delivery. So if you can make use of either one of those charging technologies, then this power bank is very reliable. You can still charge Non-Quick Charge compatible devices with the Quick Charge port.

Another reliable factor that many don’t think about is that you’ll actually know when fast charging is happening as there’s an indicator that switches from Orange to Green to show you what’s happening.

Charging power is great, as it features Power Delivery and Quick Charge. The Power Delivery charging on this power bank is 18W, which is mostly for smartphones that are compatible with the tech.

The charger has a power indicator for fast charging, which can give someone reassurance that the power bank is doing what it’s supposed to do. There are also five power capacity indicators while most other power banks have four power indicators.

The build quality of this power bank feels different but solid. Despite making use of three charging ports, the charger does not overheat when they’re being used at the same time.

The use of three ports is highly useful for a 10,000mAh portable charger and on top of that, you get fast charging.
