Power banks are one of the best types of charging electronics that you can use on the market because of the versatility that they have. The versatility that we’re talking about is how they’re able to be taken anywhere and still have charging tech that can be helpful to use anywhere that you go. For example, there are now quite a lot of USB-C Power Delivery portable chargers on the market and the result of that is you’re able to charge quite a few USB-C compatible laptops on the market quite easily without needing an AC outlet.

This is basically what has happened to chargers for the Apple Watch, as there are now portable chargers that use a Magnetic charger that you can use to charge your Apple Watch. That’s what this Ottim Magnetic Apple Watch portable charger features, so you’re able to charge your Apple Watch while you’re away from an AC outlet.

Power

Power Capacity:

The power capacity of most Apple Watch power banks is on the low side, and these are basically mini portable chargers that we’re dealing with here. That’s exactly what this Ottim power bank is, as it has 5,000mAh power capacity. This capacity is on the higher-end when it comes to mini power banks, so you’re able to supply quite a lot more full charges to not only your Apple Watch but also for other devices that you might charge with this power bank as it has a USB-A port.

3.7 x 5,000 = 18500 / 5 = 3,700

Of the 5,000mAh that these power banks start out with, you’re able to use about 3,700mAh of it. This is still a good amount of power for charging the Apple Watch, as the regular Apple Watch has a 250mAh battery, of course, that’s a very low capacity because it’s a watch and it uses a very tiny battery. The Apple Watch Series 3, the latest model, has a slightly higher battery with a 279mAh battery.

So if you’re solely using this power bank for charging your Apple Watch, then you can expect to get about 14 full charges. That said, since this Oittm power bank also uses a USB-A port, you can also charge smartphones with it and you’re likely able to get a single full charge for most smartphones on the market. However, if you do plan on charging a smartphone, just remember that it’ll likely take the entire power capacity to do so and you might not have enough power capacity to charge your Apple Watch.

For the power capacity that’s available, there’s still a lot if you want to just charge your smartphone a little bit.

Output Charging:

The magnetic charging for the Apple Watch on this power bank has a 5V/1.0A charging speed, and that’s basically the max charging speed of the Apple Watch.

The charging speed of the USB-A port is 5V/2.1A and it’s quite a fast standard charging speed, but don’t expect Quick Charge as the port does not feature Quick Charge tech. Still, though, we’re glad to see that the USB-A port has at least a charging speed higher than 1 Amp.

Input Charging:

To recharge this power bank, it’s done through the Micro-USB input and it has a max recharge speed of 5V/1.8A. So to recharge this Oittm power bank at max speed, we recommend that you use a 2 Amp wall charger or higher, as that will result in about a 2 hour full recharge time.

Design

Size and Weight:

This is indeed a mini power bank as the charger has a length of 4.9 inches, a width of 1.6 inches and a thickness of 0.9 inches. The weight of the power bank is 5.7 Ounces. So you can very well just place this power bank into a pocket and not have to worry about it slowing you down. Holding it while you charge a smartphone and use your smartphone at the same time is also quite easy.

Of course, when it comes time to charge your Apple Watch, you are going to have to place this power bank down.

Functional Components:

The power bank is very easy to use, with the top consisting of the magnetic charger that you can lay your Apple Watch on for charging. Also at the top is where there are two rows of LED lights that show the amount of power capacity that’s left.

Off to the left side is where the USB-A port is, and then on the opposite long length side is where you’ll find the power button and the Micro-USB input port for recharging. You do have to press the power button to begin charging from both the USB-A port and the Magnetic Charger.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this Oittm power bank is very good as it has an Aluminum Alloy center and the two sides caps are made of plastic. We can tell that Oittm really wanted to put some Apple DNA into the build and we think that they succeeded.

Tech:

On the tech side, the power bank does get a little warm if you’re charging an Apple Watch, but only slightly and that’s quite common when it comes to magnetic charging in general.

Reliability

This Oittm magnetic portable charger for an Apple Watch is absolutely reliable with its power capacity that can charge an Apple Watch into the double digits, and it can also charge a smartphone to full power. That said, this isn’t the most reliable power bank for charging a smartphone to full power and still having leftover power capacity. The use of a USB-A port is still welcoming though if you do need to charge your iPhone or any other smartphone.

Summary:

Power:

The power capacity of this Oittm power bank is quite plentiful and you’re able to charge an Apple Watch to its full power multiple times.

Design:

It’s an easy power bank to use with minimal functional parts and the magnetic charger for charging your watch is front and center. Also, the power bank is able to lay flat so there’s no trouble with aligning your watch to charge.

Build:

The build is quite good with the power bank having a solid structure and it’s basically on par with Apple’s product feel.

Reliability:

It’s able to provide multiple charges to an Apple Watch and charge a smartphone to full power about a single time. It all comes in a small form factor that you can fit into a pocket.
