When it comes to high capacity power banks, most might think of one that has a 20,000mAh power capacity and it features two ports.  Well, you’d be right to think that, but there are also power banks that are a level higher than that and that feature more power capacity and more than just charging ports, and that’s what we’re here to review.

This is quite a new AC outlet portable charger from the brand, Omars. The charger the has a 26,800mAh power capacity and the charging and powering side on this portable charger is very impressive as it actually features an AC outlet and an also three ports with one of them being a USB-C Power Delivery port. How awesome is that? With all that said, let’s see if what this supposedly powerful portable charger has to offer is actual value and not just fluff.

Power

Power Capacity:

The power capacity of this power bank is very high as it starts out at 26,800mAh, but even though, this is a lot of power, some of it is lost during charging. So let’s see how much on average you’re actually able to use with this Omars power bank.

3.7 x 26,800 = 99,160 / 5 = 19,832

So you’re able to use about 20,000mAh of the power capacity that this power bank has and this is quite a lot lower than what the power bank starts out at. With that said, this is an average conversion rate and so other 26,800mAh power banks that you use on the market will have similar output power capacities for you to use. Another thing is that this much power is also quite a lot, too.

With a 20,000mAh power capacity, you’re able to charge most smartphones that have a 3,000mAh battery capacity to their full power about six times. Larger smartphones such as the Note 9 with its 4,000mAh battery can charge to its full power about fives times if that’s all you’re using to charge this power bank with.

However, solely charging smartphones with this power bank is not the only thing that you’re able to do, as you can also charge tablets and laptops. Most tablets and laptops that have a 5,000mAh to 7,000mAh battery can charge to full power about two to three times with this power bank. So there’s no shortage of power.

When it comes to using appliances with the AC outlet on this power bank and the power capacity, well, it’s less about the power capacity and more about the usage of the power of the appliance. Since the AC outlet is capable of a 90W output, and if you use a 90W appliance with it, then it’s only able to last for one hour.

Output Charging:

There are a total of four ways to use this power bank.

Three Charging Ports

So there are two USB-A ports, and the most surprising thing about them is that they make use of Quick Charge so you can fast charge a Quick Charge compatible smartphone with either of the USB-A ports. However, you can only fast charge one Quick Charge smartphone with either of the ports, as charging another device will make that port output a 5V/2.4A charging speed. You can also charge any Non-Quick Charge compatible smartphone and another device with the USB-A ports and the ports will simply output a 5V/2.4A charging speed.

The USB-C port on this power bank makes use of Power Delivery, and this is very surprising considering that the charger already makes use of an AC outlet and so you have another powerful feature. The Power Delivery has a 29W output, meaning that it fast charge Power Delivery compatible smartphones and it can also charge a USB-C MacBook, too. Charging a Nintendo Switch with this power bank is also possible.

This Omars portable charger is definitely going far and beyond with its capabilities as it could have just used as a standard USB-C port that has a 15W charging speed, but it can take quite a few steps further than that.

3-Prong AC Outlet

The AC Outlet on this power bank makes use of 3-prongs and it has an output power of 90W. So it’s definitely not the type that you’re going to use to power large appliances such as fridges or even mini-fridges for that matter. The AC outlet on this power bank was more made for the purpose of using laptop chargers with it or if you wanted to, to power something very weak such as a lamp.

The usage of a charging brick for a laptop that uses a DC port to recharge or a more powerful Power Delivery wall charger that has a 60W charging speed is more about what the AC outlet on this power bank is made for.

Input Charging:

The recharging for this Omars power is quite well done as it makes use of a DC input port and the power bank comes with its own AC charging brick that provides an 18V/2.0A recharge speed. So you can get this power bank to its full power within just 4.5 hours.

Design

Size and Weight:

Since this power bank makes use of such a high power capacity, and many charging and powering options, it’s quite large. It has a length of 7.2 inches, a width of 6.3 inches, and a thickness of 1.5 inches. The weight of the power bank is 3.6 Pounds.

So this is definitely not the type of power bank that you’re going to be able to hold for a long duration and placing it into a pocket is basically impossible. We found that placing this power bank into a backpack and using it once you get to your location is the best way to use it. It is quite heavy but it actually manages to hold for quite some time and bring it to somewhere.

Functional Components:

With a bunch of features, thankfully almost all of the functional parts, except for the four White power capacity indicators are at the top of this Omars power bank.

To activate the USB-A ports, and USB-C port you do have to press the DC port power button that’s to the right of the ports.

When it comes to using the AC outlet, there’s a switch right next to it that you have to set to “ON”. Once the AC outlet is on, there’s a Green LED light that turns on.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this power bank is great, as the shell around is made of Aluminum. Now, the charger is not a rugged one and so you still have to be careful about dropping it.

When it comes to using the AC outlet and any of the ports, it feels very premium as if you’re using an AC outlet within your own home or a USB-A port that a wall charger uses with either of them holding on strongly to the charging cable or AC adapter that you plug into them.

Tech:

With such powerful charging and powering options, this power bank gets a little warm if you’re using the full power of the AC outlet for a long duration of time. Other than that, using the USB-C Power Delivery port or the Quick Charge ports don’t cause overheating as they don’t output as much power.

Reliability

This Omars AC outlet power bank basically features all you’ll need when it comes to charging most portable devices and this is true for smartphones and laptops. The AC outlet can be used for laptops that are not compatible with Power Delivery or require more than the 29W that the USB-C port outputs.

Then you’ve got a Power Delivery port that outputs 29W which is powerful enough to fast charge Power Delivery compatible smartphones and can also be used to charge laptops that use USB-C. To top it all off, you can also fast charge Quick Charge compatible smartphones.

The only problem is that this power bank is large and heavy, which is understandable with its massive power capacity and many charging options. It’s an equivalent exchange that we find to be fair.

Summary:

Power:

There are plenty of charging options to use and we found that you can make good use for charging smartphones and laptops with them.

Design:

The power bank is very large and quite heavy in terms of being a portable charger. It’s really meant to go into a backpack or you can hold it and use it once you reach your destination. Using it is quite easy with a button being used to turn on the charging ports and a switch for the AC outlet.

Build:

On the build side, this power bank does have a solid shell of Aluminum but it does get a little warm if you’re using the power bank to its fullest power.

Reliability:

It has everything that you can use to charge portable devices that are small and large. The only unreliable part is its size, but when you really think about the power that you’re getting and how you can take it with you anywhere then the size of it becomes more minuscule.
