Many smartphones are now compatible with some sort of fast chaging technology. Most Android phones use Quick Charge, and also quite a lot use Power Delivery. The iPhone is now a phone that does use Power Delivery for fast charging. So, if you’re getting a charger, you’ll likely go for one that features some sort of fast charging tech.

What about a charger that just features standard charging? Well, that’s what we’re here to review right now. It’s this PowerAdd 10,000mAh power bank that does not feature any fast charging, so let’s see if fast charging is truly the reason to get a charger.

Power

Power Capacity:

The power capacity of this portable charger is 10,000mAh. So, it’s a mid-range power capacity that is going to be most helpful for charging smartphones and possibly tablets. Also, no, you cannot charge laptops with this power bank, the charging power from it is not that powerful and we’ll get to that in the next section.

Enough for Smartphones

When it comes to charging most modern phones on the market with this PowerAdd power bank, you’re going to be getting about two full charges for most of them. This might not sound like a lot, but that’s because many phones these days have large batteries. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and S10+ have batteries that go up 4,000mAh. The Note 10+ has a 4,300mAh battery, so smartphones are already nearing 5,000mAh batties.

Even iPhone 11 Pro Max has a 3,969mAh battery, and this is a surprise because the iPhone has always been known to have a small battery.

Charging a Tablet? Takes the Whole Capacity.

With all that said, if you have a pretty new smartphone, then you can indeed expect two full charges for your smartphone. Even with two full charges, since your phone has a large battery, it’ll last longer. If you have a phone that came out about two years, ago, then you might fair about 2.5 or three full charges.

If you want to charge a tablet with this power bank, it can be done, but you should know that it will take the entire power capacity to charge it to its full power. Even then, the power capacity of this PowerAdd power bank may not be enough.

Output Charging:

Charging from this PowerAdd portable charger is best to be explained as simple. That’s because this power bank only features a single port. The port features a 2.4A charging speed, so it does not feature Quick Charge or Power Delivery as it does not have a USB-C port in the first place.

That said, even though this power bank does not feature fast charging, the standard charging is still quite fast. Of course, if you want a power bank that can fast charge your smartphone then this isn’t it. The great part about having standard charging speed with a mid-range power bank is that it has such a small form factor, and still has quite a lot of power to use.

Input Charging:

The recharging portion for this power bank isn’t exactly an impressive part of it either. This PowerAdd charger uses a Micro-USB input port to recharge from. The recharging speed from the input port is 2 Amps. It’s an alright recharging speed, and you’re able to get the fastest charging speed when you use a 2 Amp wall charger.

Design

Size and Weight:

Despite not having any fast charging features, this power bank does have a very small form factor with its length of 4 inches, a width of 1.9 inches and a thickness of 0.9 inches. It’s also very lightweight with it weighing in at 6 ounces.

Functional Components:

Using the power bank is simple because most of the time you won’t have to use the power button because charging automatically starts. At the top of the power bank is where you’ll find the power button and four power capacity indicators.

Build

Structure and Material:

The charger is made of plastic, but it still has a solid build that is perfect for everyday use.

Tech:

There is no overheating either, but that’s not surprising considering that charger only uses a single port.

Reliability

This is going to be a reliable power bank for charging smartphones in general, however, it’s not going to be a reliable power bank for fast charging your smartphone because this charger does not feature Quick Charge or Power Delivery.

On the bright side, this charger does come with a carrying pouch and a Micro-USB cable.

Summary:

Power:

There’s enough power capacity for having two full charges for your smartphone. The charger isn’t exactly impressive when it comes to its charging power as it just uses a single USB-A standard that does at least have a 2.4A charging speed.

Design:

The size of the power bank is one of the best parts because the form factor of the charger is the size of a 3,000mAh power bank.

Build:

Even though it’s made of plastic, this PowerAdd power bank holds up well for everyday use.

Reliability:

It doesn’t have fast charging and uses a single port, but this charger is still helpful for charging smartphones when on you’re on the move.

Specs of the PowerAdd 10,000mAh Power Bank:

  • Power Capacity: 10,000mAh
  • Output: 5V/2.4A | 12W
  • Input: 5V/2.0A | 10W
  • LED Power Indicator: 4 White LED Power Indicators
  • Size: 4 x 1.9 x 0.9 inches
  • Weight: 6 Ounces

Conclusion:

Fast charging is pretty important these days, but for portable chargers, it can be less important since you’re charging on the go. This PowerAdd 10,000mAh power bank brings at least standard fast charging and a very small form factor that makes you forget about fast charging.
