Most of the power banks that we’ve reviewed from Poweradd have been rather mediocre other than their 30,000mAh power bank. That one proved to be quite a monstrous one with its extremely large power capacity and a wide range of charging possibilities for both Output and Input. With that said Poweradd also has a few portable chargers that specialize in fast charging technology and have much better tech than their other power banks. They know what they’re doing with some power banks and some other power banks have much less effort put into them.

This is the 10,050mAh power bank with Quick Charge 3.0, it not only features the popular fast charging technology, it also makes use of other powerful features that most modern power banks should be taking advantage of.

Power Capacity:

The power capacity of this Poweradd power bank starts at 10,050mAh and it doesn’t go too much lower than the initial power capacity because it uses LG battery cells. LG battery cells are able to improve conversion during charging so less power is lost. With that said, it’s also going to matter if you’re going to use the fast Quick Charge charging that this power bank has and if you’re going to charge either 1 or 2 devices at the same time.

With that said, most of the time you’re going to be averaging about 8,000mAh of Output power capacity that you’ll actually be able to use. It’s with this power capacity that you’re going to be able to charge smartphones 4 times or more. Even tablets can be charged with this power bank to their full capacities; this is especially true for mini tablets, which can charge 1 full time if you’re taking full advantage of the entirety of the power capacity. Charging a full-sized tablet with this charger isn’t something we recommend since it won’t charge it all the way and it’s best to use this power bank for smartphones most of the time since you can get multiple charges.

Output Charging:       Quick Charge 3.0 Port: 5-6V/3.0A  |   6-9V/2.0A   |   9-12V/1.5A         Normal USB Port:   5V/1.0A

Quick Charge:

The Quick Charge port is going to be the charging port that you’re going to be using the most. That’s because devices that are Quick Charge compatible are going to be able to charge at their max charging speeds. This goes for both Quick Charge 2.0 and 3.0 devices. The max charging rate is at 3 Amps with 5 to 6 Volts. When Amperage is decreased, the voltage goes higher so charging speed is able to stay more constant; that is why Quick Charge is called “Quick Charge” even when charging is slowed, the higher Amperage levels make the slow charging still relatively fast.

Also, even for Non-Quick Charge compatible devices, the Quick Charge port is the way to go because it can deliver a Max Standard charging rate of 5V/2.4A. So all your standard charging devices will be able to charge at their max charging speeds. This is extremely helpful if you want to charge tablets at their max charging speeds while you’re away from a USB wall charger. Most smartphones will be able to charge at their max speed with the Quick Charge port as well.

Normal USB Port:

Then the other USB Port only a offers a charging speed of 5V/1.0A and it’s a rather slow charging speed. We recommend, if you can, to avoid using this charging port if you don’t want slow charging for the device that you want to charge and the only time you should use this port is if you’re charging 2 devices at once and have no choice but to use this port as well.

Input Charging:          5-9V/2.0A  | 12V/1.5A

This PowerAdd power bank is recharged through a Micro-USB input port. It has some fast and unusual charging. The both possible charging speeds are 5-9V/2.0A and 12V/1.5A. So we recommend you either use a 2 Amp wall charger or a Quick Charge wall charger for max recharging speed. Using a 2 Amp wall charger will result in the power bank being recharged in 6-7 hours. Using a Quick Charge wall charger will result in 4-5 hour full recharge.

Size and Weight:

It’s a portable enough power bank that isn’t too large and it’s just small enough that you can take it with you for on-the-go purposes.

It has a length of 4 inches, a width of 2.8 inches, and a thickness of 0.9 inches. It’s can fit into a single hand easily and you can use your smartphones while you’re holding it. With that said, those that do hold it in a single hand will have to bare the 10.6 ounces of the weight of the power bank. It’s quite a heavy one, but we found that it was still acceptable to hold.

Of course charging a second device will result in the power bank needing to be set down and if you don’t want to hold the power bank in your hand, it’s still small enough to fit into a purse or any bag for that matter.

Functional Components:

All the functional parts of this power bank are on a single side, and to be more specific they’re all on a single side panel of the power bank. That’s where you’ll find the 2 USB Output ports, the Micro-USB Input port, power button, and 4 LED Power Capacity Indicators.

Charging DOES NOT start automatically and that means the power button must be pressed to begin charging when your device is plugged in. There are no side things like a built-in flashlight and that’s what we like to see, which is objectivity. You can also press the power button to check the power capacity of the power bank by simply tapping it; yes, that will turn on the power bank’s charging but the power bank turns off automatically when there’s no current being drawn from it.

Also, a device will stop drawing power from the power bank when it’s fully charged, so there’s no power capacity being wasted.

Build

Structure and Material:

It’s a structurally strong power bank and even though it’s not on the level of being a rugged waterproof power bank, it does well enough to be used every day and take the occasional shortfalls and bumps.

That’s because the center casing is made of Aluminum and the side panel with all the functional components is made of PC+ABS heat resistant material. This makes the power bank hold together even when you’re in a hurry and grab this charger in a hasty way.

Tech:

On the tech side, this Poweradd power bank does quite a fantastic job because it has a Mult-protect system that protects it from a multitude of safety concerns. Also, the main aspect that this power bank has is a quality one is the use of LG batteries that are able to provide a better conversion rate during charging and they’re also able to hold their near original power capacities even after numerous usages. Normal Lithium Ion batteries degrade quite a lot over time.

Reliability

It’s reliable power bank for the most part, and this is true even for those that don’t own Quick Charge compatible devices; since the Quick Charge port is still able to charge Non-Compatible Quick Charge devices at their max charging speed. Then when you couple the possibility of charging 2 devices at once, that’s quite welcoming as well. Also, you can recharge this power bank quickly and that’s not just exclusive to people with Quick Charge devices, because as long as you have a Quick Charge wall charger, you can recharge this power bank very quickly.

On the tech side, the usage of LG batteries makes the power capacity and longevity of the power bank better than the norm.

With that said, for the most part, this Poweradd power bank is highly reliable and there are things that you can do to make the power bank more reliable by owning a Quick Charge compatible smartphone or a Quick Charge wall charger.

Summary:

Power:

The power capacity isn’t going to deplete too much with the usage of the LG batteries, and charging speed is quite good with the Quick Charge port offering universal fast charging. Although there is the Normal USB port that only offers a 1 Amp charging rate. The power bank can be recharged faster than normal if you’re using a Quick Charge wall charger.

Design:

It’s a small blocky design, and even though it’s small, it’s still heavy. You can use it in your hand, set it down, and or you can place it into a bag or purse because it’s really that small.

Strangely, charging doesn’t start automatically and you have to press the power button to begin charging. With that said, charging stops when the device you’re charging is charged to full.

Build:

It has a strong structure the power bank being made of aluminum and PC+ABS, perfect for everyday use.

Reliability:

This Poweradd power bank is reliable for the most part. However, there are things that you can acquire to make the reliability even better by using a Quick Charge wall charger to charge the power bank faster and by using a Quick Charge compatible smartphone with it.

Conclusion

We really like this power bank in comparison to PowerAdd’s other, rather mediocre power banks that don’t have all the up to date tech. It uses Quick Charge Output charging and in a way Quick Charge Input charging if you’re using Quick Charge wall charger. The usage of LG battery cells is definitely a step up from the normal A+ Lithium battery cells.
