Fast charging tech is basically the standard when it comes to most of the portable devices that we use. That’s because we all want faster recharging for our portable devices once they have run out of power. The two main fast charging technologies that we’re talking about are Quick Charge and USB-C Power Delivery.

This PowerAdd 3-port wall charger features Quick Change and USB-C, just not Power Delivery. It’s still a wall charger that features the new standard of USB-C and Quick Charge, both of which are very useful if you’re someone that owns a new smartphone that currently uses USB-C for charging.

Power

Output Charging:

There are three output ports on this charger, so let’s see what each of the ports has to offer.

USB-C Port

The first thing that you should know about the USB-C port on this charger is that it does not feature Power Delivery. Instead, this is a standard USB-C port that has an output charging speed of 5V/3.0A (15W). With that said, you can use the USB-C port with a USB-C to USB-C charging cable to charge some USB-C compatible smartphones quite quickly.

A smartphone that many people might not think that it will charge, is the iPhone X and iPhone 8. You can use a USB-C to Lightning charging cable to charge either of those smartphones at a faster charging speed. As the iPhone X and iPhone 8 are Power Delivery compatible.

Also, you can use the 15W charging speed from the USB-C port to charge even larger USB-C compatible devices such as Apple’s USB-C MacBook. However, it’s important to know that it won’t charge it at its max charging speed, as there’s no Power Delivery being used.

Quick Charge Port

The Quick Charge port, is just that, a Quick Charge port that can charge Quick Charge compatible smartphones at their max charging speed. If you’re not charging a Quick Charge smartphone with this port, then that will result in the port outputting 5V/2.4A.

The one other port is a standard port that has a 5V/2.4A charging speed.

Max Output:

The Max Output of this wall charger is 43W, so you can use the max power of the USB-C port (15W) and the Quick Charge port (18W) at the same time. That said, if you’re using all the ports on this charger at the same time, then that will surpass the max output as it would be 45W. Charging would be lower for the standard port, though.

Design

Size and Weight:

The size of this wall charger is what you can expect from most wall chargers such as this one. With it having a very small size and lightweight. However, it really helps that you get the fast charging tech with such a small form factor. As this charger has a length of 3 inches, a width of 2.7 inches and a thickness of 1.1 inches. The weight of the charger is 6.1 Ounces.

It uses a retractable AC adapter so you can more easily take it wherever you go.

Functional Components:

Using this wall charger is just like using any other wall charger on the market. This charger has a retractable AC adapter, you just plug that into an AC outlet. Once that’s done, you’re ready to use the charger. You have to use a USB-C to USB-C charging cable to use the USB-C port to charge a USB-C compatible device.

However, if you’re charging an iPhone X or iPhone 8 with the USB-C Port, you have to use a USB-C to Lightning charging cable.

The standard port on this charger is White, while the Quick Charge USB-A port is Orange.

One thing that we found was missing was some sort of light to indicate that the charger is on and ready to use. Which would have gone very well with just how aesthetic this charger looks.

Build

Structure and Material:

The charger has a great build quality, even though it’s all made of plastic. There’s a center silver part that makes it look like it’s made of Aluminum but really it’s just pained silver to make it look more premium. Even so, the charger feels great to use.

Tech:

There is no warmth even when you’re using the max power of the charger with all the ports being used.

Reliability

This charger is meant for those that own Andriod smartphones with Quick Charge and also for if you own a USB-C compatible device. As those are the two main ports on this charger. If you can’t find a use for those two ports, then it’s best to go for a more standard type of a wall charger such as Anker’s PowerPort 4 wall charger.

Summary:

Power:

Even though there’s no Power Delivery charging with the USB-C port, that’s okay. That’s because this isn’t a PD charger, to begin with. That said, you still get Quick Charge and fast standard charging as well.

Design:

The charger is easy to use as all you have to do is just plug it into an AC outlet and you’re ready to use it.

Build:

The build is good, and even if you’re using the max output of the charger, it doesn’t get warm.

Reliability:

You should really only purchase this charger if you’re actually going to use the USB-C port and the Quick Charge port, as those two ports are really what make this charger hold its value.
