At Charger Harbor we understand what it means when a power bank has 2 charging ports. Or at least we understand what it should mean when a power bank has 2 charging ports.

There’s a certain criterion that should be in a place that makes having 2 charging ports logical. In any case, just putting a bunch of charging ports onto a power bank doesn’t make it a good one.

Sure, you can charge multiple devices at the same time, however, it’s the quality behind those charging ports that matter more than the quantity of them.

In this case, the Poweradd Pilot 5G power bank reaches a pretty good standard with all of its aspects and they come together to deliver a charging experience that is useful with every use.

Power Capacity:

This PowerAdd power bank uses the usual A+ Lithium-Ion batteries and since it also has 2 charging ports, the Output power capacity is going to fluctuate depending on the way that you use it.

It has a Max Output of 3.4 Amps, and we’re going to assume that you’re going to be using it at that level. With the power bank being used to its limit, you’re going to be left with about 7,500mAh of power capacity.

An Output power capacity of 7,500mAh is going to make this power bank great to use with smartphones as it can charge most smartphones 3 times or more. Larger battery smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S7 can still fair quite well as they can get 2-3 full charges.

If you’re charging smartphones that have extremely larger batteries like the ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom, then you’re going to manage a full charge of about 1.3 times. That’s because the ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom has a battery capacity of 5,000mAh and that’s lots of power to replenish.

Charging tablets, on the other hand, isn’t the purpose of this power bank but it can surely be done. Charging Mini tablets is the best option as you can charge them to their full capacities only 1 time. Charging Full-sized tablets are going to charge them about 70% of the way to their full power capacities.

Overall, the PowerAdd Pilot 5G power bank at its base works great for smartphones in terms of longevity for its power capacity.

Output Charging: Per Port: 5V/2.4A     Max Output: 3.4A

The charging Speed for the Poweradd Pilot 5G is really good. Sure, it’s not the fastest charging speeds from a power bank that we’ve seen but the design and the speed of the charging ports put together are done well.

Not only is the Max Output of the power bank 3.4 Amps, but the charging Max Output is also shared between the charging ports. This means that the charging speed of each of the charging ports is not exclusive to their charging speed.

With that said, each of the Output charging ports on the power bank is capable of outputting a Max standard charging speed of 5V/2.4A. So you can charge any standard charging device, that doesn’t feature Quick Charge at its max charging speed.

This goes for smartphones and tablets that can charge at 2.4 Amps which is their max charging speed. Even taking the charging speed to its potential of 3.4 Amps, each of the charging ports can Output 1.7 Amps each, and that charging speed is still enough to charge the most device at acceptable charging speeds.

It’s a powerful enough power bank that can charge many devices at a charging speed that can charge them fast enough for you to notice that they’re charging. However, if you’re searching for a power bank that can charge 2 tablets at their max charging speeds, then this isn’t it.

Input Charging:

On the recharging side of this power bank, you can recharge it within 5-6 hours if you’re using a 2 Amp wall charger or above. We recommend using a 2.1 Amp wall charger or higher because the max recharging speed of it is 5V/2.1A.

Design

Size and Weight

It has the ideal size that you’d be able to walk around with quite comfortably. With that said, its weight is the main thing that’s going to be holding you down and make you want to place this into a bag or your purse.

It has a length of 5.1 inches, a width of 4.1 inches, and a thickness of 1 inch. So fitting it into your pocket isn’t possible unless you want to be uncomfortable with it. It has a weight of 10.4 ounces, so it’s heavy and so holding it in a single hand isn’t going to provide the best portable charging experience.

So most of the time you’re going to want to set it down or place it into a bag for the best portability.

Functional Components

All the functional parts are on a single side and they’re really easy to find since this power bank is split into only 2 different colors. No matter what power bank color you’re getting, the Silver or Gold one, each of them has a Black side to them and on that colored side is where you’ll find the functional parts.

It’s there where you find the 2 USB Output charging ports, the Micro-USB Input port, 4 LED Power capacity indicators, and the Power Button.

Charging automatically starts when you connect a device to it and charging automatically stops when there’s nothing charging. This leaves the power button with the primary function of simply checking the power capacity.

Build

Structure and Material

The entire power bank is made of Aluminum and this helps protect itself from minor bumps and falls. It’s separated into 4 pieces with the 2 side panels, and the 2 pieces that make up the center body. It’s not a rugged power bank, but it’s great for daily use.

Tech

On the tech side, the Poweradd Pilot 5G does just good enough by providing a safety tech like Over-Current, Voltage, and Short-Circuit control to make sure nothing goes wrong during charging, even when you’re pushing the portable charger to its limit.

What would have made the tech build superior, though, is the usage of Panasonic or LG batteries that would result in better Output power capacity and longevity of the batteries.

Reliability

It’s a universally reliable power bank. It doesn’t do anything too special and that’s why we feel it’s appropriate for this portable charger to be used by any USB charging device.

It doesn’t use Quick Charge or USB-C ways of charging, but the total output charging speeds are still good enough for the power bank to provide fast enough charging speeds for any device regardless of whether they make use of those charging ways.

The size is small enough to be held but the thickness and weight could be a problem for those that are searching for the most portable charging solution. In that case, the Anker PowerCore 10000 is something more of what you’re looking for, but it only has 1 USB charging port.

Summary

Power:

It has enough power capacity to charge smartphones multiple times, and some tablets can charge to their full power capacities.

The charging speeds are where it shines since the Max Output of 3.4A is shared between the 2 charging ports and that can provide optimal charging speeds to most devices, especially smartphones.

Design:

It’s a small power bank but that doesn’t mean it’s the most portable one. It can be held in a single hand but the weight of 10.4 ounces can hold you down.

Build:

The build is quite good with the material that it’s made of being Aluminum, so it’s wonderful for everyday use.

Reliability:

We view this as a power bank that’s perfect for everyday use. Some may think that the lack of USB-C Output or Quick Charge is a bad thing but it’s not that bad since this power bank doesn’t target a certain group of users, and that’s what makes it a universal portable charger.

Conclusion

This Poweradd Pilot 5G stands true for what it offers. It has 2 charging ports with a Max output of 3.4 Amps to back it up. Not only that, it’s the usualness is what makes it a good charger too.

Many power banks on the market can provide more Output and more power capacity.

For what it has, though, the Poweradd Pilot 5G does well with its design of not having set charging speeds with its charging ports and taking advantage of at least a small size that still offers quite the heavyweight.
