Power banks that have power capacities of 10,000mAh are ones that are in a tough spot with what they feature and the reason for that is because these types of chargers have power capacities and charging abilities that can either be mediocre or great.

That’s because, with that high of a power capacity, you’re able to charge smartphones to their full power a few times, then the charging power comes into question, such as if the portable chargers will use a single port or two ports.

This is Puridea S2 power bank is such a portable charger that could have gone through the low-quality path but it didn’t because, with its use of two USB ports, the power bank actually has powerful charging and a power capacity that can deliver enough charges.

Power Capacity:

The power capacity of this Puridea power bank starts at 10,000mAh and while you’re charging it, the capacity is going to go through an average conversion rate.

The reason that you’re going to receiving an average Output power capacity with this power bank is that it has a max output of 3 Amps.

Now, that’s actually a good output and the USB ports themselves can Output 5V/2.4A charging speeds, so it’s not a substantial amount of power that’s being used so the power capacity can go through an average conversion rate.

However, if you’re using the 3 Amp Max Output of the power bank, then the conversion rate can be less than average because there is more power being converted to charge your devices.

In this case, though, let’s calculate the amount of power that will be available to you if you’re charging a single device at a time.

3.7 x 10,000 = 37,000 / 5 = 7,400

Power Capacity for Smartphones

Most of the time you’re going to be receiving an Output power capacity of 7,400mAh and it’s going to be perfect for charging most smartphones to their full power.

Most smartphones can able to charge two times to full power because a Galaxy S8 with its 3,000mAh power capacity can charge to full power.

So if you’re charging a smartphone that has a battery capacity lower than that, you can get more than just two full charges.

Power Capacity for Tablets

Charging tablets with this Puridea power bank is not the best idea.

What I mean by that is that you can charge tablets with this power bank, however, doing so will drain nearly the entire power capacity from the charger.

As even Mini iPads such as an iPad Mini 2 or 4 are only able to charge to full power only once with this power bank and the charger will barely have enough to charge a smartphone.

If you want the best experience when it comes to its power capacity, it’s best to stick to charging smartphones.

Output Charging:

There are two USB ports and each of the ports is capable of Output 5V/2.4A charging speeds and the Max Output of the power bank is 3A.

A 2.4A charging speed is really good as it’s the charging speed that comes before Quick Charge, and as a result, it’s able to recharge most smartphones and tablets at their max charging speeds.

When you’re charging two devices with the power bank, then the max charging speed of each port is 5V/1.5A and this may seem like a bad thing but it’s really not.

The reason that a slower charging speed is not a bad thing when you’re charging two devices at once is that most power banks at this level just have a set speed for their ports. Not in this case, because each of the ports shares the same power from the overall Output of 3 Amps.

Input Charging:

It uses a Micro-USB Input port that has a recharge speed of 5V/2.0A and as long as you’re using a 2 Amp USB wall charger to recharge the power bank, it’s able to recharge to its full power within 4-5 hours.

Size and Weight:

The size of the Puridea S2 power bank is quite good and the weight isn’t going to set you down.

It has a length of 5.9 inches, a width of 2.8 inches, and a thickness of 0.5 inches. The weight of the charger is 7.5 ounces.

It can potentially fit into your pocket because of the slim form factor the charger has or you can just hold the power bank in a single hand if you want to.

Functional Components:

It’s a highly minimal feature power bank and that is a good thing. On the short side is where you’ll find the two USB ports and a Micro-USB input port.

At the bottom of the charger is where there’s the power button and around the power button is where there are 4 Blue LED power capacity indicators.

Puridea states that the power bank automatically starts charging but that can only be for some devices, but most of the time you’re going to have to press the power button to begin charging.

The power bank stops charging once the devices that it’s charging are fully charged and also the power bank stops recharging once it’s fully recharged.

Build

Structure and Material:

The power bank is made of plastic and Puridea states that the outer shell of the power bank is drop tested, however, this charger doesn’t really seem like it’s ready to be dropped onto hard flooring because there are no shockproofing build qualities.

Tech:

On the tech side the charger, the power bank has the basic safety features that can keep the power bank and you safe during charging.

Reliability

This Puridea power bank has a great level of reliability, it may not have Quick Charge but with its current capabilities, this power bank is quite good at what it has.

The reason for that is because it has a power capacity that you can utilize to charge smartphones multiple times to their full power and the charging speed is designed very well because each of the ports shares the same max output.

Best of all, you’re able to take all of this awesome power with you nearly everywhere that you go because the charger has a compact size and lightweight.

Summary:

Power:

The power capacity is perfect for charging smartphones, but not so good when it comes to charging tablets. The charging speed design is great because the two USB ports share the same Output.

Design:

It has a small size and lightweight. The power bank is easy to use but it won’t automatically start charging with all devices, however, it does automatically stop charging when not in use, it’s recharged to its full power or when the devices it’s charging are at full power.

Build:

The build quality of the power bank is great but it’s questionable if it’s able to survive a serious drop onto the hard flooring because of its lack of protection.

Reliability:

Even though it doesn’t do anything extraordinary, this Puridea power bank holds a lot of prowess when it comes to its many different parts.

  1. Nothing much about using this device. According to the tiny instruction manual with it, there are 4 capacity indicator lights lights indicating the level of charge. I cannot find these lights, therefore have no idea when the device is fully charged, Am I to assume when the one blue light stops flashing the device is fully charged? Nice, lightweight gadget though. Hope it does the job.
