Power

Power Capacity:

The power capacity for this RAVpower portable charger is on the mid-range side and that’s not a bad thing at all, as power banks with these types of power capacities are among the most useful to own. That said, a 10,000mAh power capacity sounds nice, but you should know how much of that capacity you’re really able to use with this charger.

3.7 x 10,000 = 37,000 / 5 = 7400

Overall, you’re going to be able to use about 7,000mAh of output capacity from this RAVPower portable charger and this is basically the standard for most power banks that have a 10,000mAh initial power capacity. With a 7,000mAh usable power capacity, you’re able to charge most smartphones on the market about two times to their full power. As most smartphones on the market have a 3,000mAh battery capacity such as a Galaxy S9 and LG V35 ThinQ, and many smartphones either have the same or nearly the same battery.

Charging larger devices such as tablets with this power bank can also be done, but it’s going to take basically the entirety of the power capacity to charge a tablet to its full power. That’s why we think to charge smartphones and another similar battery capacity sized USB chargeable devices is the best way to use this power bank.

You can also use this power bank to charge a few USB-C compatible laptops as this power bank makes use of a USB-C port, but that’s going to basically result in the same method with charging tablets, as it would also take the entirety of the power capacity.

Output Charging:

There are two ways to use this power bank. One would be the USB-C port and the other is the USB-A port. The USB-C port has a 5V/3.0A charging speed, and the USB-A port has a 5V/2.4A charging rate, which is a fast standard charging speed. Just something to know if you’re wondering is that this power bank does not feature Quick Charge.

Another thing is that the UBS-C port on this charger does not feature Power Delivery charging tech, so it won’t fast charge a USB-C MacBook and it might not charge most USB-C compatible laptops in the first place as it only outputs 15W of charging power. You can charge a USB-C MacBook with this power bank, but it will charge quite slowly.

So it’s best to use the USB-C port to charge UBS-C compatible smartphones as it’s those type of devices that will charge the fastest with the USB-C port.

One part of the power bank that we find to be quite weak is that the max output of the charge is 3.1A. This means if you’re using the USB-A port and a the USB-C port at the same time, the charging speed from both of the ports will be split up.

Input Charging:

There are also two options that you can use to recharge this power bank.

There’s the USB-C port that can also use as an input and there’s also a Micro-USB input. The USB-C port is the better option for recharging as it has a 5V/3.0A recharge rate, that said, if you want to make sure that you’re recharging the power bank at its max charging speed, then we recommend that you use a Quick Charge wall charger to do so.

While the Micro-USB input has a 5V/2.0A recharge rate.

Design

Size and Weight:

The size of 10,000mAh power banks has now become very small, at least that should be the standard now as top bands such as RAVPower and Anker are now doing it. As this RAVPower portable charger has a length of 5.7 inches, a width of 2.8 inches and a thickness of 0.6 inches. The weight of the power bank is 6.9 Ounces.

So it has a very slim form factor and along with that, you’re able to have a short length. It’s completely possible to place this power bank into your pocket if you wanted to.

Functional Components:

Almost all of the functional parts of this power bank are on a single side, as all the charging ports are on one side and the power button is right along-side them, too. On top of the power bank is where there are 4 Blue LED power capacity indicators. You do have to press the power bank to begin charging and you can also use it to check how much power is left.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this power bank is very good in terms of it basically being a regular power bank. You won’t find any rugged properties with this charger and you do have to be careful not to drop it from a high height.

What you do get is a well-built power and that won’t break apart because it’s put together very well and the charging ports make sure that the charging cables stay snug and tight.

Tech:

On the side, this power bank doesn’t get warm at all, even if you’re charging two devices at once, and that makes sense as this charger is only capable of an output of 15W of power at once.

Reliability

On the reliability scale, this power bank is going to be most useful for those that own a USB-C compatible smartphone, as it’s able to charge most USB-C smartphones at or near their max charging speed. It’s also useful if you want to charge another device with the USB-A port.

Charging USB-C laptops is not really the best idea to get this power bank for as it doesn’t feature Power Delivery.

Summary:

Power:

The power bank makes use of two quite powerful standard ports, and there’s enough power capacity to charge smartphones about two times to their full power.

Design:

Most 10,000mAh power banks have a small size and this RAVPower charger is no different with it having a form factor that is so small that it can fit into your pocket.

Build:

On the build side of things, this charger does have a strong structure and it doesn’t get warm even when you’re charging two devices at once.

Reliability:

This power bank is best used for those that own a USB-C compatible smartphone.
