There’s a pretty high chance that you use a wall charger. Every single smartphone on the market comes with a wall charger, not only that, but the wall charger that comes with a smartphone is able to fast charge it, too.

Except for the iPhone. Unfortunately, it still comes with a slow 5W charger even though the new iPhone models are in fact Power Delivery compatible.

With that said, the main flaw with wall chargers that come with your smartphone is that they only have a single port. In this review, we’re going to be taking a look at one of RAVPower’s newer wall chargers, which would be this 3-port wall charger.

Power

Output Charging:

The first thing to know about this wall charger is that it does not feature Quick Charge and neither does it have Power Delivery, as it lacks any USB-C ports in the first place.

It’s a standard wall charger, but at the same time, it’s a powerful one too.

Each of the three ports is able to output a 5V/2.4A (12W) charging speed. While the max output of this wall charger is 30W or 6 Amps. This means that you can use all three of its ports at the same time, and if charging power is maxed out at 6 Amps, then each port would still be able to output 2 Amps.

Charging a Galaxy S6, recharging a power bank and powering a wireless charger

So even though you likely have a Quick Charge compatible or Power Delivery compatible smartphone, as most Andriod smartphones now use either of the two fast charging techs. This RAVPower wall charger is still able to supply great charging power even if you’re charging three devices at once.

Not the fastest charging you’re able to get if you own an iPhone X, iPhone 8, or iPhone XS. The same thing can be said if you own a Samsung Galaxy phone, LG phone or any other Andriod phone.

Perhaps you’re someone that doesn’t exactly need fast charging but needs a wall charger with multiple ports that have some good charging power. Then this wall charger has just that.

Design

Size and Weight:

The size of this wall charger is nothing to worry about.

It has a length of 2.2 inches, a width of 2 inches and a thickness of 1.1 inches. The weight of the charger is 3.2 Ounces.

You can easily just place this wall charger into your pocket if you wanted to, or place it into a purse or bag. It uses a retractable AC adapter that makes portability with it even easier as the charger has no protrusions for you worry about catching on anything.

Functional Components:

It’s just like using any other wall charger. You just plug it into an AC outlet and you’re ready to use it. Once it’s plugged in, there’s a white LED light that turns on above all the charging ports letting you know that it’s powered and ready to use.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this wall charger is solid. The AC adapter feels sturdy, doesn’t feel like it’s going to fall out.

The charger has ridges in the center where you would place your fingers to place it into an AC outlet or take it out. We thought that its use of ridges was just for show, but it does actually make it easier to place the wall charger into an outlet and take it out as you have a better grip of the charger.

Small detail but a noticeable difference.

Tech:

Since there’s no fast charging used with this wall charger, overheating isn’t present. Even if you’re charging three devices at once, our tests didn’t exhibit any overheating from the charger.

Reliability

This charger isn’t going to be reliable for those that are looking for fast charging tech with their wall charger. As none of the ports feature Quick Charge.

However, it’s still an optimal standard wall charger as each of the three ports are able to output 12W of charging power, and you can use 2 Amps of power per a port if you’re charging three devices at once.

Also, the form factor of the charger along with its use of a retractable AC adapter makes it very easy to take it anywhere that you want.

Summary:

Power:

Charging power from this wall charger does have a flaw, and that would be its lack of fast charging tech.

On the standard charging level though, this RAVPower wall charger does great with each port outputting 12W, and its 30W max output not limiting charging power too much even when you’re charging three devices at once.

Design:

The charger is small and it’s of a retractable AC adapter make it possible to take it anywhere without any problems.

Build:

The build is solid, and the use of a square ridge section makes it easier to place the charger into an outlet and take it out, too. Who would have thought?

Reliability:

If you’re searching for the fastest way to charge your smartphone, then this RAVPower 3-port standard wall charger is likely not the answer.

However, on the standard level and its ability to charge three devices at once, it still does a great job. Regardless of its lack of fast charging tech.

Specs of the RAVPower 30W 3-Port Wall Charger:

This RAVPower 3-port wall charger is a reminder that just because a wall charger is missing fast charging doesn’t mean it’s useless. It just means it can be optimal in other ways.
