Car chargers mostly have either one or two ports, and with that said, not many people find car chargers to actually be a useful charging electronic in the first place. However, that can be a big mistake, especially if you’re someone that drives a lot. Perhaps a car charger that uses a lot more ports can be a lot more useful and that’s what we’re going to be taking a look at in this review.

This is a 4-port car charger from RAVPower, and one of the best parts is that it features Quick Charge. So let’s see what it has to offer with its charging power and design.

Power

Output Charging:

So of the four ports, three of them have a standard charging speed of 5V/2.4A. The one other port makes use of Quick Charge so it can fast charge Quick Charge compatible smartphones at their max charging speed. The max output of this car charger is quite high at 54W so you can use the max power of the Quick Charge port and the three standard USB-A ports at the same time.

As using the three standard ports will result in a 36W output and combine that with the power of Quick Charge, which is 18W, there will be 54W being outputted all at once, which is the max power limit of the car charger.

Fast charging a Samsung Galaxy S8 even when charging another two devices at once.

So there’s plenty of power to use and you can use it all at once. The usage of four ports with a car charger is very helpful if you have many passengers in the car so everyone can charge their smartphones at the same time. The only thing is that you have to remember to supply your own charging cables as this car charger does not come with any cables.

Design

Size and Weight:

Since this is a 4-port car charger, it does have a larger size, but the larger size is really only present in the charging port location of the car charger. As it, has a length of 2.8 inches which are the standard with most car chargers and the width of the car charger on the port-end is 1.8 inches. The car charger has a weight of 1.9 Ounces.

So it won’t be getting in your way or anything, but the car charger will be more noticeable than say, a 1-port or 2-port car charger because of its larger width.

Functional Components:

On the functional side, it’s just like using any other car charger, with all the ports being on the same side. Once you plug the car charger into a 12-Volt outlet, there’s a Blue light that comes on at the top of the USB ports.

The standard ports are all colored White, and Quick Charge port is colored Green.

Build

Structure and Material:

The car charger is built quite well, and actually better than most car chargers on the market. That’s because the entire charger is made of Aluminum, while most on the market are made of plastic.

Tech:

Of course, with the usage of so many ports, and the ability to use the full power of all the ports at once at their max power, this car charger can heat up quite a bit. That said, with so much power being outputted, it’s easy for the car charger to become warm and that’s why charging speeds are slowed down at times for the car charger to cool-down.

Reliability

Comes with a Micro-USB cable

This is one of the most reliable car chargers that you own if you have a Quick Charge compatible smartphone, as you can fast charge your phone while you drive and have passengers charge their devices, too. If you don’t own a Quick Charge smartphone then this car charger is still a great one to have just in case you ever had someone that’s able to use the fast charging tech. A great charging experience to bring on a road trip with the family.

Summary:

Power:

This car charger is able to charge four devices at once, makes use of Quick Charge and you’re able to potentially use the max power of all the ports at once.

Design:

The charger is large with its width because of its use of so many ports. That said, it’ll just be more noticeable and still be out-of-the-way.

Build:

The build quality of this car charger is great with it being made of Aluminum and if it does overheat, charging is slowed down for it to cool-down.

Reliability:

It’s a very reliable car charger with it being able to charge four devices at once and makes use of Quick Charge.

  • Input: 12-24V
  • LED Power Indicator: Single Blue Power Indicator
  • Size: 2.8 x 1.8 x 1.8 inches
