Wall chargers might be one of the most used charging electronics on the market as they’re so small and easy to use. That said, if there’s one limiting factor is that they can lack the number of ports that you want to use, and so you can’t charge as many devices as you’d like to. Another thing is that they might not feature the fast charging tech that your smartphone is compatible with.

That’s why in this review, we’re going to be taking a look at this RAVPower 6-port desktop charger that makes use of Quick Charge. So you can charge quite a lot of devices with this port, and if you’ve got a Quick Charge compatible smartphone then looking into getting this desktop charger is definitely a must.

Power

Output Charging:

This desktop charger uses 6 USB-A ports. Five of the ports have a 5V/2.4A (12W) charging speed, and then there’s the Quick Charge port that has an 18W charging speed that can charge Quick Charge compatible smartphones at their max charging speed. The standard charging rate for the regular ports is perfect as it’s basically the standard for max standard charging speed that can charge most USB chargeable smartphones and tablets at a fast enough charging rate, if not at their max charging speed.

The max output of this charger is 60W and this is great because you can use the max power of the Quick Charge port along with the standard USB-A ports. Just to put this into perspective, you can basically use the max power the four standard USB-A ports all at once, as it would be 12W x 5 and that would be 60W of charging power.

You can still use the Quick Charge port in combination with the standard ports, and 18W of charging power will be used for the Quick Charge for fast charging the smartphone.

With all that said, the main selling point of this RAVPower desktop charger is that you should have a Quick Charge compatible smartphone, or else, you should just go with the regular RAVPower 6-port desktop charger that uses all standard ports.

Design

Size and Weight:

Despite its use of 6 ports, this desktop charger is very small and you’ll have no problems with placing it on a table near your laptop or monitor on your computer desk. That’s because this charger has a length of 3.5 inches, a width of 2.2 inches, and a thickness of 1.1 inches. The weight of it is 7.4 Ounces.

You can easily take this charger anywhere that you want by just wrapping the 5-foot power cord around the charger itself. Speaking of the power cord, another benefit over a wall charger is that you have more freedom of where to place this charger. As a result, you can have the devices that you’re charging closer to you.

Functional Components:

All of the charging ports are located in the same location, with the standard ports being White and the Quick Charge port is colored Green. Once the charger is receiving power, there’s a small LED Greenlight that turns on above the pots so you know that it’s ready to charge.

The charger does not come with a stand and it’s really just meant for laying down on its side.

Build

Structure and Material:

The entire charger is made of plastic, however, it’s compromised of mostly just two pieces and because of that, it has a more solid build quality, despite being made of plastic.

Tech:

Since this charger does feature 6 ports and has quite a high max output, if you’re charging six devices at once it tends to get a little warm in the center. That said, it’s nothing serious and if you’re worried about it catching on fire, the good news is that it’s made of fire retardant material.

Reliability

If you want to have the ability to charge many devices at the same time and with one of them being a Quick Charge compatible smartphone, then this RAVpower desktop charging station is a must. If you don’t have a Quick Charge smartphone or nobody in your family owns one, then it’s best to go for the standard model that has a lower price.

Summary:

Power:

Charging power from this charger is great as each of the standard ports has a 2.4A charging rate, and it features Quick Charge with one of its ports. To top it all off, this charger also has a max output of 60W.

Design:

The size of the charger is very small and you can travel with it quite easily by wrapping the power cord around the charger.

Build:

The charger does get a tad bit warm if you’re using its max output of power, that said, this is unlikely as each of the devices would have to require 2.4A of charging power or more. You can still charge six devices at once with one of them being a Quick Charge smartphone and the charger still won’t become warm as the standard ports aren’t being used at full power.

Reliability:

This RAVPower charging is most reliable for those that own a Quick Charge compatible smartphone, as it features a Quick Charge port.
