The usage of an AC adapter with a power bank has become more common, and that’s because the portable charger can double as a wall charger. This can be useful because you can basically just use one charging electronic for charging your smartphone or tablet.

That’s what this RAVPower 6,700mAh power bank features, with its use of an AC adapter, and two ports. So let’s take a closer look to see if this charger is really worth the 2-in 1 charger that it features.

Power

Power Capacity:

The power capacity of this RAVPower portable charger is 6,700mAh. Not a high capacity by any means, but its perfect for charging smartphones to their full power one time, and still have just a little more power left.

As most smartphones such as the iPhone XS has a 2,658mAh battery, while the Galaxy S9 has a 3,000mAh battery. Either of those latest phones is able to charge to their full power, once.

If you plan on charging a tablet with this power bank, then you’re not really going to have the best experience. As tablets such as Apple’s iPad or Samsung tablets have 5,000mAh batteries or larger.

6,700 x 3.7 = 24,790 / 5 = 4958

When you consider the output capacity that you’re really able to use with this charger, which is about 5,000mAh, then you’re either going to get close to the full power or may halfway.

So it’s best to stick to charging smartphones with this power bank, rather than charging a tablet, as it’ll basically take the entire power capacity.

Output Charging:

Then on the charging side, there are two ports to use.

Whether you have the power bank plugged into an AC Outlet or not, the charging speed of the ports is the same.

With each of the ports outputting a 5V/2.4A charging speed and the max output of the power bank is 3A. So if you’re charging two devices at once, and the max output of 3A is being reached, then each port will be able to output 5V/1.5A.

There is no fast charging tech such as Quick Charge or Power Delivery on this power bank. That’s one major downside if you do own a fast charging compatible smartphone.

Fast charging would definitely give this power bank more value, but at the same time, we think it would only be available when used as a power bank.

As using this power bank as a wall charger and using Quick Charge at the same time, might cause overheating.

Input Charging:

To recharge the power bank, there are two options.

You can either plug it into an outlet and the recharge time would be about 3.5 hours.

While recharging the power bank through its Micro-USB input will result in a 4.5 full recharge time as it has a slower recharging speed of 2 Amps.

Design

Size and Weight:

The power bank is small, but the thickness of it is larger just because of how compact it is. That’s because it has a length of 3.3 inches, a width of 3 inches, and a thickness of 1.1 inches.

The weight of the charger is 3.9 Ounces.

So you can definitely place this charger into a pocket if you wanted to.

Functional Components:

Using this AC adapter power bank is quite simple.

When you have it plugged into an AC outlet, you can simply just connect your devices to the power bank and they automatically start charging.

However, when used as a power bank, you have to press the power button.

The power button, two USB ports, Micro-USB port, and the four Blue LED power capacity indicators can all be found on the same side.

Of course, the AC adapter for this power bank is retractable.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this power bank is pretty good but at the same time, it’s not breaking any limits.

With it mostly being made of plastic, the charger holds well, but don’t drop it onto hard-flooring as that can cause damage.

Tech:

If you’re using it as a power bank then the charger stays cool at all times. That said, plugging this RAVPower AC power bank into an outlet and using it, does cause it to get a little warm.

The reason for that is likely because the charger is recharging and charging your devices at the same time.

Reliability

This is a reliable power bank if you’re searching for a 2-in1 type of a charger. One that you can take with you on the go and one that you use as a wall charger.

That said, it’s really only reliable if you’re charging a smartphone because of its low power capacity. Also, because the power bank does not feature fast charging such as Quick Charge or Power Delivery.

Summary:

Power:

The power capacity is good for smartphones, not really enough for a tablet. Charging power is good for standard charging, but if there is no fast charging such as Quick Charge.

Design:

Size of the power bank is very small and with its use of a retractable AC adapter, the charger basically becomes a cube.

Build:

The build quality of this charger is pretty solid, but it’s not a rugged power bank so you should be careful about dropping the charger.

Reliability:

The main part that makes this RAVPower power bank special is its use of a built-in AC adapter and how you can use it as a wall charger and power bank.

Without that AC adapter, it would be just like any other power bank.

That said, the reliability of using it as a wall charger and power bank make this charger very reliable to use.

Specs of the RAVPower 6,700mAh with Built-in AC Adapter:

  • Power Capacity:

Initial Capacity: 6,700mAh

Output Capacity: 5,000mAh

  • Output:

Each USB Port: 5V/2.4A

Max Output: 3.0A

  • Input: 5V/2.0A
  • LED Power Indicator: Four Power Indicators
  • Size: 3.3 x 3 x 1.1 inches
  • Weight: 3.9 Ounces

Conclusion:

This RAVPower portable charger is the reliable standard power bank that also features an AC adapter that enables you to use the charger as a wall charger and power bank.

The lack of fast charging is one reason not to get it, but if you don’t really want or need fast charging it’s a pretty good power bank for smartphones.
